It's finally here! The Maserati MC20 is the Maserati supercar we've been waiting for. With a light, strong carbon fiber tub, a boosted six making 630 horsepower, and absolutely stunning good looks, the MC20 is poised to take a big chunk out of the $200k-$300k supercar space occupied primarily by the Lamborghini Huracan, McLaren GT, and Audi R8. It looks excellent on paper, and it looks even better in photos. But is it usable? Does it sound good? Will it be worth the $213,000 (plus options) price tag? Zack and Matt get a bit of track time, and hit the streets in the most anticipated supercar of the last two years.
Maserati provided the vehicle, insurance, fuel, and track time at Willow Springs for this review.
Car-to-car track shot provided by NextJen Studios.

And the fit and finish, driving dynamics and performance alll seem to be here. And judging by Matt and Zach's overall demeanor and voices, the emotion seems to be there too. Reallly impressive. As far as looks are concerned, I give this car a 10. And I give 10's very seldom. The lines are so even and balanced. The color combos with the interior are perfect. IMO I wouldn't change a thing about it.

Beutiful car, genuinely pretty, not overly aggressive, and very amserati. The sound was my only hesitation but it seems good just different that what maserati use to sound like. My only question is regarding the build quality of the interior, seems to have alot of alfa derived parts, but atleast the infotainment system is great.

The ignition system is very similar to that of your standard aircraft reciprocating powerplant. On aircraft the cylinders are so large that they need two spark plugs to actually burn all the fuel in the cylinder 👍

The Nettuno engine uses the same 90 degree config and firing order of Maserati's V6 used in the Citreon SM, Maserati Merak, and that raced in Le Mans in the Ligier JS2 1972-74. Sounds like a modern version of this old engine.

Maserati has the heritage, older than Lamborghini, Ferrari and McLaren, they were winning races before any of the others even existed! They won the INDY500 twice before any of the others even were driving!

I have seen renders of this Alfa, and it was truly mind blowing.
At least is not hybrid, like they planned before.

I had to go watch an old one take to verify my hunch and the MC20 sounds like the Ford GT. It’s more refined, less harsh and a bit more melodic, but the tones and frequencies seem to be the same. Sounds great.

I have been blessed with one. So far, put 2000 miles on it and still want to drive it to discover more and understand it better. If I don't try to understand it, extreme performance is intuitive/natural and scary. But when I want to learn it it to control it, then (most times) I find myself behind the eight ball unless I concentrate intensely on the revs during shifting. But that is difficult at first to do (still learning) as torque and power develop exponentially when in the active secondary ignition chamber zone at higher 3500+ rpms. The unpredictability of it all is compounded by the fact that, in this zone, the power train suddenly becomes uncannily calm and smooth compared to the rest of the engine's 'grainy' nature ( compliments of no counter-balance shafts). This 'eye of the storm' phase betrays a corresponding spike in speed which can only clearly be confirmed by eyes glued to the speedometer: a sensation that is unpredictable by adopting either a naturally aspirated or modern turbo or hybrid predictive model (rev-reach power threshold- shift-repeat) or an old school turbo predictive model (rev-nobody home-sudden burst). With the MC20, the sensation can be explained by brief pause-sudden shove-exponentially growing shove only detectable by sudden suspension adaptation sounds and jitters when the road is not smooth enough. Mostly refined though rough around some edges, the car has an unusually high feel of solidity (feels like a tank), glides down the road when driven casually, tends to 'get a move on' and then surprises with more; and is, to me, stunningly beautiful and well proportioned. I truly believe, that if this car proves to be reliable enough in the long term, it's pleasing uniqueness will make history as one of the few Maserati brilliant stars.

That white one with blue callipers, the blue pin stripe interior and all the black/grey (or carbon of specced) lower half of the car in the same blue as the callipers or the same blue as the MC12…. Oooosh I would have one of them big time. Would look the nuts! Shame the car doesn’t sound as good in Europe due to the OPF’s. Imagine it with the masser V8 sounds 🤤

The brakes do not feel as other carboceramics because they are by wire, so they are calibrated to feel as they do. Probably they didn't change the feel between normal and carboceramics or they didn't want to have that grabbiness that could put off a normal user
