Maserati's best car since 1953. In a world of sport and supercars with angles and sharp edges etc this is refreshing and absolutely gorgeous. I love the way this car looks!
Used coupes are listed as low as £149k in the UK, roughly 50% off in two years, so you may not be wrong :D I'd be keen on a Cielo for around £100k in three years.
@@prolapsed5104They came to the US a bit later but a $250k car with 1500 miles is already listed for under $200k. If these fall into the mid-ones and prove reliable enough, I will buy one.
What a beautiful thing. Totally agree that the road focus is a good idea. Interesting that Mr Metcalf didn’t believe the weight story either and his Cielo was also about 225lbs heavier than Maserati claimed. Makes you wonder if the carbon is lead-reinforced.
so refreshing to see something road oriented. The motorsports for the road thing is such a trope by now, and one that seems to make cars less distinguishable from from one another rather than a differentiator it's propped up to be.
Just went to the Maserati showroom in Modena Italy and this was there. What an absolutely stunning work of art this is in person!!! Only bad part was we couldn't take it for a test.
I owned an alfa 4c for 3 years. Beautiful to lookat but hell to own. The experience turned me off of stellantis products. Beautiful car. I hope the reliability us as good as it looks
Man that is a beautiful car. Really I could see myself owning one of these if I could afford it. It's tastefully done. I get a good feeling looking at it and seeing it go down the road. Well done Maserati.
Beautiful spec on the convertible. The color is stunning. Used to seeing the hideous blue on the regular model didn’t appreciated the beauty of the car.
I almost cancelled my order after your review of the coupe. I was going to sell my 650s. Instead I decided to keep the 650 and waited a year for the Cielo which is being delivered in a week ! I wish I had it when you were here - but it will be here when you return !! It's going to be quite a build. I DID skip the exterior carbon......in favor of a 7designhouse bodykit in Texalium ! It's going to look as evocative of an aircraft as a car. Capristo corrected the exhaust, 21/22 wheels , Novitec bits, and very special aero. The most metal (*and mental) MC yet. Can't wait to show you. Sick timing to watch this fantastic vid.
Harry says the example he got to test was 220 kg over spec'd weight. For all that "carbon" and a V6, a bit porky? The plug-in hybrid Ferrari 296 is a lot lighter somehow. Same for the baby McLaren hybrid as well probably.
The Italians love to give dry weights, also all the mc20 paint choices are all beautiful, this is a special car, I want one...but a coupe, its like a more interesting 911tts
A very pretty one, but the interiors should be more special (especially for that price). Designers and builders should discover the importance of interior design and aesthetics: in the end it's the place where the owners stay when they are driving the car... I find there is a lot of improvement available in that area in terms of materials, shapes, styles, colours, textures... but a very few ones seem to notice that. 🤔
5:42 not quite regular-ass blinkers. They're the annoying old BMW-style blinkers that return to centre before the blinker has been cancelled, which are the root cause of why BMW drivers never used their blinkers.
Thanks for a very informative review. I can conclude for me that this car is a much more prettier alternative to a 911 Turbo (S) Cabriolet. The Porsche is a better performer and a better built car but these cars are barely driven 5,000 miles per year, if that, so reliability isn’t much of a concern it seems. They do build better cars than before. As for its ability to hold value, I don’t plan on selling these things anytime soon so, whatever, who knows. I would throw every carbon fiber option with a prettiest paint to dress it up as much as possible because the aesthetics is the car’s main appeal.
"That's the weirdest color I've ever seen on whatever that car is." "That car? Oh, that's called the Sky." "Um...er...that's the most perfectly fitting color I've ever seen on any car."
Harry Metcalf (Harry’s Garage) on his review said something astonishing about the car which I found hard to get my head around is that he weighed the car and came at nearly 1.8 tonnes!!! Almost 250 kilos more than quoted? But how….? It’s a flipping carbon tub car complete with all carbon panels. The sf90 is about the same weight and that’s got electric power units and batteries for Christ sake. Don’t understand. But it’s a pretty car and everyone seems to say it’s great to drive. Just perplexed how heavy it is and lying about it, which is a piss take really.
Would love to see a video comparing it to the Emira. Like the one you guys did with the Supra and the CTR. I think it’s the same principle but a bit elevated. Thoughts?
Had the chance to see a coupe in real life in a rosegold metallic color and oh boy this thing is beautiful , shame the trunk space is worthless and the engine is uninspired in the sound department
Matt I'm trying to figure out what's on your wrist? Grand Seiko? Edit: Ok now that I'm towards the end a couple more close ups that's a GS for sure. Nice piece.
Harry's Garage test drove the car but was unable to understand why the large openings behind the front wheels, shoot back so much dirt that coats the rocker panels every time you drive?
This is a pretty fair enough review, just came from Harry's vid on it. The thing is, the noise is something I'd be more critical of for 260k. Some of this does feel like they're charging this much just because they can. Come on guys, be honest about your weight too. As Zack put it at some point: it's like how much you weigh without blood. Ridiculous things. A nice thing to say, the paint reminds me of Alfa's 00s Azzurro Nuvolla. That's only a good thing because that was a f*cking spectacular color, it very nearly makes it look that expensive. Unfortunately, I don't think it is 260k beautiful. The Emira and the Artura far better seem to justify their price points; an Artura Roadster with that hydraulic steering would rule all.
Modern Ferrari, Maserati, and Alfa Romeo cars are always listed by their automaker with their weights without fluids. So no oil, gasoline, coolant, transmission fluid, brake fluid, washer fluid, etcetera is in their cars when they weigh them for the number they tell the world. It’s a very dishonest way of being honest on their part 😂
as long as we're making a point about how beautiful the name is, we might as well use its actual beautiful pronunciation "chay-lo". and yes, poopidiboppy is correct.
Good review. I've watched a few. Seems the car has an identity problem. The complete lack of storage space really sucks. Also fit and finish seems really lacking for such an expensive car.
It's pretty, but I just can't imagine myself in the financial bracket where I'm viewing this purchase in an "and" way versus "or" way. And when considering it with "or," I'm buying an eRay to do what this car does, some variant of Boxster, a C6Z, and a Gen V Viper.
It's beautiful, but I'll keep my C8 Corvette HTC and save $200K. And it's a better car overall anyway (And that's just the Stingray, Z06 is yet another league - and still half the price).
A 90 degree V6 will never sound great, I'm afraid. But the rest of the car is perfect for someone who wants something different than the other supercar brands.

It was actually kg not lbs, so close to 500lbs overweight. There's definitely lead.
Love the more classic video format of seeing the open road ahead, probably easier for you to produce too
