Hai is the NA LCS’s original shotcaller, the league’s first real leader whose unique shotcalling style and macro play got Cloud9 into the LCS and revolutionized the league itself.
This is his story.

Man right in the feels. The first League of Legends I ever saw was Hai leading C9 their first game in the LCS, he quickly became my favorite player. Watching his story has been a roller coaster, from his lung collapse to his retirement, to his return and Cinderella run to worlds, reverse sweeping all the way its been quite the journey. While I hope to see him be able to compete at the highest level of the game again, even if he never does, the impact he has had and the mark he has left on the NALCS will be ever present. Great work on the documentary for my favorite player, and the person who got me into the game as a whole. Fly Hai, Hai, Fly high.
It was the same for me! It's what got me invested in the lcs. I'll root for these boys no matter what team they are on. 😊

Hai was my favorite pro player too, in whole League there isnt a single another person who could have motivated me to play league like him, i tried to copy his play style and macro mechanics and now im at challenger at euwest and i would not have never ever got to that spot if i haven't seen Hai in C9 team at LCS. and im pleased to see Hai back in league as pro player again even that he is little bit bad at mechanics but he is still great
Hai should be one of the first few people Riot should think of if they ever want to have a hall of fame

Im relatively new to League, but even so, Hai quickly became one of my favourite players. I never knew the full extent of his story, so thank you very much for this amazing video. I think that no matter where he goes, a part of me will always be cheering on for Hai and hoping for his success.

Hai is one of those players that no matter what team he's on, you can't doubt them. Hai has the capability to just bring out the beast within the team and bring them to victory. His shotcalling is what i'll always respect him for.

Hai is the most unique player I've ever seen in pro League. That season when he was in and out of the C9 roster, you could see him across the map. Without even looking at the roster, you could look at how the team was playing and know whether he was in the game or not. When he was in the game, the team was decisive, made bold moves, they were unified, they made plays that were unique and often forced the enemy to choose between two bad options. Without him, they were just another LCS team. I've never seen another player have that kind of influence across the map.
My god, this one is eye tearing, really well done.

Legend, there should be a film about Hai. His success on c9, them farming tactics vs SSB (when he hid in the bush), the cinderalla story with the gauntlet, you'll always be a legend to me.
Hai will always be my favorite player, no matter what team. no matter how long this game lasts
I got into watching the NA LCS by watching that C9 at worlds in 2015. That first week 3/0ing a group everyone considered them as a 0/6 team was a thing that I will never forget. I always liked underdogs, do watching Hai lead C9 to be able to do that (Balls penta on Darius is the most iconic moment from those C9 worlds) made me wanna watch more from that region. Now, I'm a CLG fan. Watching Aphromoo made me fall in love with the team, but I still root for Hai wherever he is (unless he plays vs CLG, of course). Flyquest last year, Golden Guardians this one... This man is golden and one of the main reasons to why LCS is so macro-focused. And he deserves a comfortable sit in the NA LCS history for that.

I started the scene in season 4 with Tsm vs C9 summer finals. I had no fucking clue what was going on but it was hype af! (The only esports I had experienced was with Halo 2-3 And not lol). Great video as always !
I would love to see one on xpeke. He's a pretty big idol in the league scene and it would be pretty sick to see his story.

I personally would LOVE to see the story of Montescristo. I loved him back in the days casting korea and was shocked when he announced the problems he had with riot and went to overwatch.

I loved Hai when he was in C9 and I'm glad we were finally able to move on with Reapered leading the team. I'm so happy GGS are doing so well now, hopefully he's able to pass on his knowledge to the next generation of NA talent.

Yeah back in the day SSB was the expecting champion and they almost took them to game 5. Such a great series. Beat out SSB in their glory day was seem like an impossible task for an NA team.

When hai's shotcalling was at its peak they were the only team that could challenge the Asian teams. As hard as that is now it was even more impossible in the past. His mindset of playing the is way beyond his time. I think if hai were to play right now with the gap clearly closed now. NA would actually win something.

I've been a Cloud9 fan then!
He should have just become C9's coach. Instead of hopping around a bunch of teams and in a way kind of tarnishing his legacy. He was never really even in the top 5 best midlaners mechanically but he got by with his incredibly macro and shotcalling and having a great set of players around him that were his tools for victory. He should have just retired after his first 'comeback' and jungle run and then movied into a coash/analyst role for C9 and helped them with transitioning to playing without him. C9 would be in a so much better spot now if he's stayed there behind the scenes.
Hai might not be the best player mechanically but damn he's my favorite. I love how he lead C9 and literally dominated teams using strategy and not brute force.
