There's an incredible soothing & uplifting feel of a round home! Eric left the big city in search of a simple lifestyle centered around nature. He searched for affordable land and small home options. He decided on a wooden yurt kit that could be permitted. By doing the work mostly himself, he was able to keep costs down. Later he might add on with an extension kit. 👉 *Watch a tour of Lawerance's DIY tiny house on wheels on his waterfront property:* th-cam.com/video/qHbQJ0syQMk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=w8BmghXiRepCCxNz
I liked it until the closet was in the bathroom unless he has an awesome System that draws the moisture out of the air in the bathroom. He is going to end up ruining all Of his clothes
What a beautiful lot and homestead. I’m sure putting in utilities access was thousands of dollars but it’s a great investment to your real estate based upon the improvements made. Your views are incredible and I love how you maximized your windows to capture that. A kitchen on wheels is actually a great idea! Don’t sell yourself short. Anyone can see the thought and care you put into your creation. Just awesome❤️
Deep sigh - this is such a beautiful video! It exuded utter calm and the colors were amazing - the red leaves, the red wood, the red hair and beard, the pink bathtub(!). I keep going back and forth between building something like this or a dome or a Quonset - definitely something (half) round. (My most recent thought is a Quonset with same size hoop greenhouse extension.) I really connected with Eric’s practicality about everything! Wool!! What a wonderful treat and a very gracious thank you to the 3 of you!
My husband and I stayed in a air b&b yurt near Mt. Rainier, Washington State for his birthday in November a few years ago. It was so cozy and comfortable. ❤
This is one epic home so darn spaciouse and well designed love everything about it , & look at the views eric has , I could easly live in this home . wish I could sell my bungalow home here in Ontario and get someone to build one of these it lovley well done ! .
Eric's yurt is one of the nicest ones I've seen. Well designed, nice flow to the interior, beautiful carpentry, as well as spectacular view through his windows. The Methow Valley is a great setting to live in. I went llama backpacking years ago with the Methow Llama Tours in the 1980s through the Pasayten-Okanogan wilderness, so I can appreciate how lovely the area is.
Eric did a wonderful job, I love everything about his home. It looks so spacious, love the pink bathtub, the ceiling, and the wood pieces in his home. Tfs.
Absolutely loved this "yurt house" & the owner/builder/resident as well! I was glued to the screen & s'posed to be getting other things done, which I will do now. But, glad I fid sornd this time watching this video! I find yurts very intriguing & more so now, with this more permanent, 'kit' version. Answered many things I was curious about, due mostly to round shape of housing. Live how open & airy it is inside. He did really good job on it, esp. when you consider all the new things, like permits, etc, that he learned by doing! Good job! As he said, once living in it, you'll find things you may want to change. I think that's the only way to find out & I'd expect that. "Change is good." What's NOT good is being afraid to just do it, once have researched what you can, thinking have to (can) get it all perfect from start. That wouldn't be realistic & keeps many a person from trying something new ~ & living the life they want. They miss out! Take the 1st step, after learning all you can about what you want to do from those who have experience. The rest will be learning by experience, by mistakes perhaps, but changing it later is far better than never doing it at all! Fear of NOT doing things 'perfect' is crazy ~ biggest mistake of all, I think! You can waste a whole lifetime thinking about it, talking about it & waiting for IDK what!? I married a man who turned out to be that way & it ruined everything. Did nothing. Work towards your goals & know it won't be perfect. What ever really is? Don't be afraid to 'leap' once you find out much as you can. "Jump!" The only real failure is never trying at all cuz' lived in fear of making a mistake! This yurt home is wonderful & he's living in it, enjoying it. That's what matters & that is living your life! His parents must be proud of him.🥹 Great home. Great video. Great story. Thank you! Off to feed my animals & do housework....boring. ("ha!") This was fun tho.😁
Really enjoyed the video and the beautiful round houses I think maybe that might be the way for me to go because the bedroom had a taller ceiling and nothing looks small
Wow, at first I thought 50,000 or so I could manage someday, but 3x that for the full building (interior, water, electricity) makes me think twice. Very nicely done though Eric, you’ve got good taste!
This is a fantastic home. It’s different than all the rest of the small homes I’ve seen and just seeing it feels good. I’ve been thinking about a smaller home but I didn’t think about a yurt type home. Great information thank you and you’re doing a great job
Think the kitchen needs to be nearer the stairs in a galley style. The portion under the stairs can be pantry, as it has awkward heighth differences. This makes cooking a more efficient process. It also avoids odd cuts placing cabinetry against the outer yurt wall. Think I'd prefer a round shed over a round house.
Impressive! Very open space, comfortable, gorgeous inside and out.. The top floor of the home is amazing. Reminds me of a giant teepee. The heated floors, and wool insulation is very nice 👏👏👏❤❤❤. Congratulations! Great work!
You don't need a stove at all. We chose to use a two eye Induction cooktop set into our Acrylic counters. That along with a few appliances like a GE Microwave/convection/halogen oven into the top cabinet, toaster oven, airfryer and Instant Pot are all you need to bake, cook anything. We have a half size dishwasher...all 2 people need, so our kitchen is clean and simple. Love your yurthouse! If you sit and contemplate you can come up with innovative ways to do things that are way more efficient but unconventional. You have the talent...good luck.
We have a house with the same tub and color..........who would have thought. The toilet is still there. The sink had to be replaced with a Bates sink that had a similar color and goes well with it. Love your home.
Having seen lighthouses undamaged after hurricane I'm thinking this would be better. I might have explored being off grid, compost toilet, solar for electricity, inground tank for water, like my grandparents had, west coast gets a lot of rain.
You can get one from Smiling Wood Yurts 😊🛖 here’s the kit Eric has: www.smilingwoodsyurts.com/kits/twenty-five/ 🛠️ they can help estimate other costs needed for finishing. Best wishes with your research!
Never lived in a round home but have had a recurring dream of living in a round house that is essentially a kind of call back to a small two bedroom ranch house I rented years ago in the country. But for whatever reason I always dream about that ranch house as a round one. Weird.
The reason we don't keep our clothes in the bathroom is steam. If you put an unventillated box into a moist environment and fill it with stuff that absorbs moisture, you gonna have a bad time...
Wonderful space. He says he had to pay a lot to bring utilities up to the house. I’m wondering why he didn’t choose to put up solar panels. Maybe that would have cost more?

A Yurt has been my favorite house for over 30 years.
They have a real magic to them that’s hard to describe-just feels so good 😊 ✨
Wow, this looks way bigger on the inside than it does from the outside. Great camera work. Thanks for doing this one.😊
We appreciate the kind feedback! Thrilled that we connected with Eric & he said yes to filming-such a serene kind of home!
@@TinyHouseExpedition absolutely, y'all are the best!🤗
I agree
I think I could handle living in a round home. Very well done Eric.
🥶🖤🔔👍🏻❣️
What a sweet man and great job! 😊🤗
💯💕
What a cool space/home! Nicely done!
I like the way you did the yurt.

Yes, I agree. his yurt seems so spacious, and aesthetically pleasing. I would have no problem living there.

I absolutely love this gorgeous home & although I just turned 76 I would live here in a heartbeat! Well done.❤
Love it. We need more small homes.
yes, we do!
I agree !
Why?
@@AndreiFantastic After having large homes for years I regret all my time and energy that went into upkeep. Could have done better with my life.
I absolutely love this looking past all the little things that still need to be done. Love to see the updated progress in the future!
Beautiful all around. Washington state is awesome. This build is awesome.. everything is awesome
Now I have the everything is awesome song in my head 😂 but definitely agree with you!

The advantage in this particular situation is that he has a few out buildings to hold the rest of his stuff.
It’s absolutely beautiful , but I’ve always wondered how it will stand up in a strong hurricane with climate change ?

He was more than likely required to add utilities to pass inspection. Maybe he can add solar in the future!
Did he mention the coast of the hydronic flooring?
