This song is a story of a girl infront of her guy, on the verge of breaking up. The first line literally goes "i don't have anything to say" like she's so tired to even explain herself... leading up to the first chorus is her saying that all this time she's just pretending to be happy. She switched her singing style up to that point signaling the tension building. And the end part where she keeps hitting those high notes is not for the sake of showing off... everything is intentional. As the couple's conversation intensifies, her belts signify full-on meltdowns. In 20:38, the part where she cries IM SORRY ("mianhe") followed by an even higher "PLEASE UNDERSTAND!" Man, that broke me. You don't hear the guy's perspective but you can sense the intensity of the breakup with wheein's delivery. Jungkey x Wheein collabs are just amazing.
It's still hard to wrap my head around the fact that Jung Whee In, a top-tier singer (this reaction vid is one of the many proofs), is also a top-tier dancer, artist, and so much more. She's also very smart and excels in everything she tries (e.g., drums, archery). I mean, it's like she has it all. Btw, INTHEMOOD (her solo comeback) is just around the corner! 🦋🦋🦋

Wow! I feel so lucky running into you guys, just watched your other MAMAMOO reax last night and it's truly lovely learning from you. I'm just new to MAMAMOO and wheein is also my bias. Idk much about the technical things when i first heard her, but the way you've explained it so well made me understand why i've gotten to appreciate her voice immediately too! It's like giving names and clarity to what i've observed on her singing style and skill. ❤
The other thing is a lot of 'classical' singing is oriented towards Latin/Italian vowels but Korean has some vowel sounds that your opera teacher would NEVER let you sing like 어 (uh) and 으 (euh). If you change those to a 'pure' sound like an English speaker (with certain accents) would while singing it will change the word. It always catches my ear when a Korean singer holds a long drawn out euh sound.

This song really helped her to expose her singing to the general public. You have to listen to a brother sister duo korean group called AKMU. They just recently did a killing voice episode, but they always sing live and their vocals are always on point! They can harmonize on the spot and turn anything into a song. There’s an episode of a variety show called knowing brothers where they were guests and made up tunes to random books on the shelves! They are AMAZING!
