Man are you sure that renaming it with a 1 will make my saves not go away? Because I'm very far through the game and I killed Ryder and I would be very upset if I lost it so I'm contemplating if I should take the risk for the mod or not
Just rename both the data file in the data folder and the obb file in the folder in the Android folder then your saves will not be deleted otherwise after the mod you'll lose your progress
i followed it and it saves all your files and you spawn in the same place and everything

Zarchiver will ask for some permissions when you will try to access Obb folder or DATA folder, Make sure that you give that permission for being able to make changes in those folders. :)

The main menu is just a black screen, I can't even enter the game. I know the basics of modding so I've removed the built in scripts but the menu is still black. I'm pretty sure it's because the version of this apk is outdated.

It's happening because you are missing game data file in your OBB folder. Game data folder name is "com.rockstargames.gtasa", check weather you have this folder or not in your Android » OBB folder. :)
