Actually, the fall of Anvilgard has come out. The Stormcast has already laid seige on Har Kuron, but were caught in a trap by the combined forces of the Daughters, Har Kuron and the Idoneth Deepkin. It was only by the appearance of the Celestant Prime, who asked for a parley, that the stormcast was saved. It`s noted that Morathi expected that. The parley ended in an unsteady truce, and the Daughters was allowed to keep Har Kuron.
@@Spacefrisian I doubt it more than likely this is setting up future plot threads. Specially into what regard Morathi promised in return for the continued ownership of the city. Also the parley I called ages ago. The daughters are far to low numbers to legitimately be able to threaten sigmar and the chaos gods. Also another issue is the Idoneth are in no way universally united with the DOK, with the book outright stating that idoneth factions still raid the areas the Daughters of Khaine control in Ulga.
More snake ladies=always better All jokes aside, I like this development. It proves that GW is willing to actually progress the story and the factions in some ways. So far, much hasn't changed but the status quo for the DoK is different and I think it'll go and echo further down the line
One of the lines I find interesting in Broken Realms says "...she had bonded with the last vestiges of the Bloody-Handed God. She was High Oracle no longer, but Morathi-Khaine." It doesn't really say whether this is a claim she makes or if there is actual truth to it. The story of her inside of Slaanesh is pretty brief and it seems possible that at some point she DID consume the last of Khaine's "remains." So its possible that she actually is in some way mingled with Khaine, or at least his power.
She is fused with Khaine and is now Morathi-Khaine and basically her personal guard and the other members of her inner-circle are aware of her and Khaine being fused into one being while everyone else in the faction believes that Khaine has returned using Morathi's body as his vessel.
i just imagine sigmar when he finds out what happens is like...MORATHI! and you see thunderstorms all over the realm and that shout echoing through the skies
I love this new battetome! DoK was my intro army into Age of Sigmar, 2nd army I started building late 2019 was cities (So broken realms hit me hard personally). The lore in the last 6 months has been amazing and the newest book seems like going to be super fun to experience for me and my local opponents. We are excited to see variety from the army. Before, the point and click playstyle was great for me as a beginner, but it really was kind of 1 note after a while. I could never justify deviating too far from aelf hordes. I feel like this new rule set gives me the tools to have more consistently fun games against the people at my local store while being able to bring diverse stuff to the table. All the characters have value (especially the avatars) and the spells look great (hope they play half as well). The lore updates make sense and Best of all, I think move the WORLD forward more than the faction. The faction gets an upgraded morathi, and diversity. The AoS world gets new enemies, goals, alliances, problems, knowledge and insight into not just DoK, but Idoneth and Lumeneth as well. Very excited to see what the future holds. Thanks 2+Tough for the lore videos as well!
Doug. I think you have an older book? The new Daughters of Khaine battletome addressed your questions. On page 17 it moves the timeline. Sigmar learns about Har Kuron because Van Brecht, a Stormcast Eternal, escapes. Sigmar lays siege to Har Kuron. The Celestant Prime and Morathi parlay for a day or more in private council and Stormcast leave her the city. A secret agreement was made that remains unknown to us the reader. In a separate issue. On page 23 Khaine is still stuck in his cycle because Morathi is still draining his power from the Iron Heart. Morathi is keeping this secret from all the rest of the DoK and everyone else.
Yes my personal theory on what was struck was a concession of some form from Morathi, along with a cease of any further territorial aggression from Morathis part. But also with an agreement to move against Teclis. Sigmar obviously doesn't like Teclis stepping on everyones toes, who better to keep him in check.
My battletome still didnt arrived so I couldnt read the new lore myself. So thank you for making this video! Morathis arc has been one of my favorite parts of AoS ever since the first tome dropped. I really enjoy the different aspects of Khaine-worship part. Really adds to the religious foundation of the faction and neatly ties in with the changes from Broken Realms. The Scathborn being more prominent also helps with justifying the inclusion of the new Zainthar Kai subfaction.
I’ve never played warhammer but I’ve been really enjoying how you explain the lore and I think this faction is one of my favorites! I now really want to make a blood cleric for DnD based on this faction!
The battletome does say that Sigmar sent multiple chambers of Hammers of Sigmar to retake Anvilgard but it ended up in a parley between Morathi and the Celestant Prime.
I know of the outcome of Har Kuron. I called it some time ago. The thing is the Daughters of Khaine are far to integrated into the cultures of the other factions to just cut the cord completely. So a parley was the smartest course of action. She's not on best terms with Sigmar but they are not at each others throats either. My guess is she had to make some form of concession to Sigmar in addition for owing him a favor in the future. But it will likely influence future storylines. My personal theory is Sigmar wants her to move more against Teclis. Use them to keep eachother in check.
Tbf in the old world, the elven gods did essentially become one with their on world avatars (I,e how alarielle “scrobbled isha” i(in the words of one Markus kruber) and are sort of reincarnations of older elven archetypes so it’s entirely feasible that khaines incarnation in the mortal realms can be morathi
I am very excited for my next Soulbound campaign to have a Hag Priestess with the forbidden knowledge talent who knows that their God is dead and their religion is a lie. I think it will play off well with the Azyrite warpriest in the party.
I wonder if Doug Doug does AoS faction focus sort of vids. Not quite lore or Meta stuff just like sort of lore like these units are like *explanation* like here's how the bat ladies and snake ladies behave in attitude and how they fight and stuff
So not a daughters of khaine player yet (only just got the models), but I've loved daughters of khaine sense I saw them, mainly the snake/bat winged ones. I knew they worshipped khaine and who he was but only now learning more.
I was never fused with a dragon GW confirmed that fans assumed that but were wrong. I take whatever form I want. Typically I walk around the way I was before I got burned.
Although a chaos boy at heart, The daughters of Khaine is probably my favorite factions in terms of theme. The entire faction feels like a critique on organized religion, sexism, zealous fanaticism, and unquestioning obedience to authority.
Personally I put Alarielle and Sigmar a bit higher than Morathi but like, you won't find me saying Tyrion and Teclis are better than her! And I'm a Lumineth guy!

My two cents on it is I get the feeling that Marathi is changed. And does represent an aspect of Khaine. And my theory Ford comes a little bit to how we understand the immaterial realm of demons works. So it’s kind of blending 40 K with AoS. But my theory is that even though Marathi was siphoning any prayer that went to khaine into her to get her own power that that was still enough to bring forth some Aspect of khaine inside her. And to be fair I am completely OK with this. I have long been a proponent that even though they are in order that the elves of AOS need to I have a greater distance between all of the other mortal realms Order factions. And narratively speaking I still see this as a first step to that happening. Because if you look at the Realm Lord’s, daughters of khaine, sylvanith, and deepkin They all have their own purpose of fighting that is not sigmars And in someway resent the fact that they have to rely on him. While the aelven pantheon might be upset with Marathi I believe that Tyrion, Tectles and Malakith All are looking at the events of broken realms and her little rebellion and ascension in the godhood to realize that they don’t have to be under Sigmar thumb. And this is going to bring up a struggle inside the Aelves to who needs to be the ruler of the pantheon. And so I imagine you’re going to get a hold world Phoenix king battle again.
I was thinking this as well! I wonder if we’ll eventually see it become a full split personality that Marathi looses control of. maybe even have a version of big Morathi that plays with out the small, representing the Khaine personality.
@@TheNinjaPacifist I don’t know if we’ll see a full split, but I do like the idea of the Aelves having their murder God.
