I remember the official DoK reveal trailer dropping; I woke up at 6am for uni and had no idea it had just come out, and my mind was blown. And that was before they fully revealed the Shadow Queen variant of Morathi! I knew immediately that I was buying them, especially since I already had a few Witch Aelves in my collection, and having collected and worked on at least one of every kit in the range I can attest to how awesome it all is (even though Witch Aelves should not be £35 a box). I’m now about 2000pts into my Daughters, only stopping because of Idoneth and the upcoming Lumineth, and they’re probably still my favourite AoS force to play (though I love my Idoneth to paint).
I do believe the Witch Elf with the mad hair on the cauldron of blood. Was a special character called Helebron from the WHFB 8th edition. Fluff wise she was head of the Witch Elves and had a bit of a rivalry with Morathi. Who at the time was the head of the cult pleasure.
The cauldron of blood is also pretty popular in the Eldar community as a plastic (if somewhat statically posed) stand-in for our 1994 finecast Avatar of Khaine
Their SC kit is around 700 points iirc. Also, forces of "Order" doesnt mean good. Plenty of real life examples of states that were big on "law & order" thing but were clearly NOT the good guys.

Order is just anything that A) doesn't worship chaos B) isn't dead C) tries to do anything more than just destroy, i.e. build cities, worship gods, negotiate with others

The DoK shrine kit is one of the most multi-purpose kits in AoS (and possibly) 40k. So much to get from one box, if you divide it up right (and maybe use a few magnets). I'd even advocate for using the Khaine statue as a 40k Eldar Avatar.
Trick for elven eyes, works for Emperor's Children. Paint eyes black, maybe bit of hint of dark purple dry brush with small brush. And maybe do panda style eye makeup with purple..? For skin purple base and various light dry brushing on top of it. Works both EC and elves... Maybe like purple, wraithbone and basic white.
I know you've posted up how you're looking for ideas on videos to do, keep doing these. These range reviews are super fun to listen to at work and watch at home and it gives you an absolute ton of videos to cover when it comes to 40k and AoS, especially if you spread them out. Much love from Kentucky and if I may toss my 2 cents in, maybe the new Ossriach Bonereapers from AoS or AdMech with their new units releasing soon.
Only thing keeping me from starting DoK army is fact that box of 10 Witch Elves are so damn expensive and you need lots of them... They are one of my favourite Order factions, but cost of them... Btw, Kirioth, if you build that Medusae altar thingie, you still get 2 extra characters and avatar, so that way you get 4 units from single box. So 4-5 units from SC box... But for next AoS Range Review, do Skaven or Orrukz. Or Gloomspite Gitz. Okay, just do Gloomspite Gitz, graziest faction in AoS! Trust me, you love it!
I'm newly converted to AoS from 40K. Underworlds is a ton of fun with friends, but also Sigmarines are cool as heck, and I'm about to start a Kharadron Overloads Army because HAVE YOU SEEN THEM?!

Kirioth, a gentleman, giving the semi-nubile Witch Elves the benefit of the doubt: "It looks...like they could function as people." 2 minutes and 5 clicks later: "Oh, God! Bits! SO..MANY..BITS!"
Doomfire warlocks and dark riders are old models. They're in one kit, but only warlocks ended up as a DoK unit. The Cauldron of Blood is good value if you just want to put models on the table, but competetive lists often include multiple hag queens (the witch holding the cup) and she only ever comes in this big kit. Edit: still all worth it just for that Morathi model.
You get the varied poses because the game isn't restricted to rank and flank anymore. The running animations for Lumineth Realm Lords is actually accurate to how horses look while running. Dark Riders are in Cities of Sigmar.
A lot of the models came out for Fantasy. And the majority of them fit on their appropriate squares. It's not ranks and flanks that was the problem. It's that GW got lazy and people building Fantasy armies went elsewhere as a result.
Super late comment, but I have the Blood Sister/Stalker box and they are same torso and tail, you just add an armor plate to the Blood Sisters to bulk them up. They are nightmares to get the heads on, though. the Necks are very slim and so you can drill them, and it doesn't really feel like they're grooved in a way that makes holding them in place easily. Gorgeous sculpts though, across the whole range
the only new models in this range is Morathi, the flying ladies and the snake ladies. All other kits are from the old Fantasy Dark Elf army with round bases. still a nice army that i hope gets some updates whenever they update the book.
Re: your comment on the amount of bitz left from the WE/SoS kit: I have built 120 of these lovely ladies. My bitz box is JUST random arms and those spare masks.
i have an army of these and the Khinerai is seriously one of my absolute favorite warhammer models dangerous, fast, tactical and sssexy and Morathi herself is one mean bish
Love those Daughters of Khaine Witch Aelves. I know the look was popular back in the day, but it's been a while and I'm digging them. I think the faces are so good, great poses too. I have not painted any female models really so was happy to see some I like.
i hope you do admech as some point. personally for me there isn't a bad admech except maybe the forgeworld drill transport but that might just be how it's painted
I think for the wing of the small version of Morathi, the best way to make it look cool and logic would be to paint them in blood fully, like it's blood who maintain is shape because of her power.
20:04 I know myself the pain of painting skin, so I understand your plight. However, there are two ways how (at least in my opinion) to resolve it (or at least lighten the burden). I had much easier work with skin contrast paint, they can be really useful for this case. And second way - set your imagination loose. GW put several videos how to paint "untraditional" color schemes - particulary army of ghosts, living statues and fire elementals. This can be an interesting as well as entertaining way to bypass this problem. And honestly, as I'm starting Warcry warband of Splintered Fang, I'm intending to use it on their leader and paint her as spirit (which would make sense even rule-wise, since leader is the only member of warband that can't perish - flesh perishes, incorporeal-self does not xD).
The doomfire warlocks and Darkriders are from Warhammer Fantasy. They were part of the Dark Elf range. When the factions were split for AoS the warlocks ended up with the Daughters of Khaine and the riders went to a different dark elf sub-faction. I think it was decides that the riders didn't fit with the rest of the range
Probably my favourite range in the entire AoS lineup. I love monster-folk and particularly anything reptilian, I love evil elves, I love the old school scantily clad pulp barbarian look
The snake bottoms on the blood sisters are awesome! I just used them to convert a couple of exalted sorcerers to have snake bottoms and they look awesome!
I think what makes Morathi scarier is the fact she's a Good Gal! Out of all the Order factions I really like these the most. One thing I hate is how much GW are shoving the Doomfire Warlocks down our throats atm, they're in the Vanguard box and the Battleforce box. IF I got them I'd try and convert them with some left over pieces from the other kits in the range. It's also great that so many of the old Warhammer Fantasy kits that came out towards the end of it's life are still living strong today in AoS.
The Dark Elves had most of their Witch Cult models (including Witch Elves) released in 7th ed (around 2009 I believe). For models of 11 years plus they're don't fairly well I think. The melusie, New Morathi etc are new. But yes Fantasy kits gave a lot more options then anything we've ever gotten from AoS.
I mean, yeah Stormcast definitely are the bigfest range, but they don't get stuff every second release. In fact, since second edition, they only got the sacrosanct chamber
@@LcUlric almost every faction has got something new(along with new factions with new ranges) we haven't seen a single stormcasts release since the start of 2nd.they are primarily focused on getting everything a new battletome and releasing new factions before they go back and give more stuff to the existing factions
Ngl I started buying some nighthaunt and death just for dnd now I have a 3500 pt army and started some sylvaneth and yes that start collecting is also on my list (especially like the avatar of Khain for my eldar)

Daughters of Khaine otherwise known as the best argument for getting into Age of Sigmar. Seriously I'm so fucking envious as a Sisters of Battle player because the faces on these gals actually look feminine when compared to the Sisters. It's unfair! Also, I love those Slaughter gals. They don't look creepy to me at all, they actually just look awesome.
I use them as Brides of Fulgrim. Eldar souls chosen from the Seraglio of Slaanesh. The ones who did not recoil from Slaanesh during the fall. Emissaries to accompany Fulgrim across the galaxy and reveal that the true salvation from Slaanesh is not in a god of death but one who embraces life and all of its experiences. The Eldar need only share themselves and live in Slaanesh and Slaanesh will live in them. Ascension into Slaanesh is the final stage of Eldar evolution.
Kirioth I appreciate all the great videos but have you considered you approach almost every model from a point of view where you judge it by how easy it is to paint? It's really noticeable and you end up critiquing models for their complexity even if that level of detail actually raises the quality for people more confident in their painting skills. Its nice that you voice your opinion for those who like you approach the hobby from that angle but you could consider a large segment of your audience also likes these details and loves painting. Not trying to say anything else but that mate.
Everything that AoS has added has been visuals over substance. You have to work with it to get anywhere beyond the surface, because the surface is all there is. They throw up enough background to try to obfuscate that, but that's the truth and it's been the truth since AoS launched in 2015. That seems to be the intention of AoS; to be as easy to digest as possible, both in terms of rules and background. And then there are the issues of internal consistency, which is a whole other can of worms. So even if they get the factions all properly fleshed out, the problem is that they're still in the mortal realms where nothing will ever matter, there are 8 settings, the gods never die and the timeline jumps forwards hundreds of years at a time and every single rule has exceptions to the point of not being a rule at all. It's a mess.
Given the fact that GW is getting so digustingly woke I'm suprised we get boob armor. Because even tho we can have any other unlogical stuff in our FANTASY game, it's unforgiviable when it's a skimpily dressed woman - "how dare you add sexy".....

Witch Elves also make cool minis for DnD rogues, cultists, you can even play them as Dark Eldar!
I've even seen Harlequin conversions.
You can also easily convert them into Daemonettes.

Cities of Sigmar should be two part video. That faction has SO many kits!!!

Someone has probably already mentioned this, but the reason dark riders aren't shown as a unit is, DOK can't take them
The DoK range really give off a "What if Elves lived a gladiators lifestyle and shacked up with Classical Gorgons" kind of vibe.
I love the fact if you want you can take the statue of Khaine to be its own unit solo off the shrine if you want to run it separately!
They need to continue expanding this line. AOS biggest flaw is that they're copying 40k and oversuporting there Marines.

I used the doomfire warlocks for converting my Ynnari. The AoS models are fantastic for converting 40k stuff.
This is why they need to do stl files, to allow you to print wings without the blood etc. Doomfire warlocks have buck-teeth haha
If painted right, some of the wicth elves or sisters of slaughter could be converted to Howling Banshees.

Problem with the horses is the neck. The necks r too short for the size of the legs. Looks like a pony on full grown horse's legs.

Kirioth I appreciate all the great videos but have you considered you approach almost every model from a point of view where you judge it by how easy it is to paint? It's really noticeable and you end up critiquing models for their complexity even if that level of detail actually raises the quality for people more confident in their painting skills. Its nice that you voice your opinion for those who like you approach the hobby from that angle but you could consider a large segment of your audience also likes these details and loves painting. Not trying to say anything else but that mate.

Everything that AoS has added has been visuals over substance. You have to work with it to get anywhere beyond the surface, because the surface is all there is. They throw up enough background to try to obfuscate that, but that's the truth and it's been the truth since AoS launched in 2015. That seems to be the intention of AoS; to be as easy to digest as possible, both in terms of rules and background.
And then there are the issues of internal consistency, which is a whole other can of worms. So even if they get the factions all properly fleshed out, the problem is that they're still in the mortal realms where nothing will ever matter, there are 8 settings, the gods never die and the timeline jumps forwards hundreds of years at a time and every single rule has exceptions to the point of not being a rule at all. It's a mess.
Given the fact that GW is getting so digustingly woke I'm suprised we get boob armor. Because even tho we can have any other unlogical stuff in our FANTASY game, it's unforgiviable when it's a skimpily dressed woman - "how dare you add sexy".....
