I sit behind the wheel of a train and... wait... wheel? OK, I sit behind the controls of a train and... nah, that doesn't sound as cool.
Umm...
Ok, I sit on a seat made of crappy sponge and utterly fail at being a train driver for an hour.
That's better.
This game is actually a metric tonne better then I thought it would be. It's made with a real passion which is so weird for a game in this day and age. If you have any interest in this game or sims in general then pick it up, you won't regret it.
Now, I'm off to drive a train properly this time. Thanks for watching. :)

To think I was 11 when I watched this video when it came out... and now I'm 16 nearly finished my GCSE's and am still coming back to watch these videos... WOW, NERDCUBED you are truly the best

Zyperspace no its just that the train sim haters always get really triggered when you say that the graphics improved.
H306 the reason the graphics dissent look like they improved is as they don't update and make old routes look better routes made recently do look a lot better

I remember finding this and it being the funniest thing I've seen in a very long time then I watched all of his other videos and got sad when I ran out so I left it for a while. Now I'm binging the entire channel to catch up as I've only caught some series and a few bits and pieces but I'm obsessed and want to watch everything he has.

10 years ago I stumbled across this video and fell in love with a man named Dan. ❤️
@WhereTheVideoEnds Do you know why the DLC is always so expensive? It's because every single piece is built to a stupid amount of detail. There's loads of Freeware trains you can get but they are no where near as detailed as the Payware stuff. Plus most enthusiasts spend thousands of hours on this game so if it ends up costing only a few pence an hour even with all the DLC then it's still pretty good value for money. For some people it's a hobby, not a game. :)
12 Years later and he did a train sim world 4 video and there was a mention of the pensive man. Ahh, the smile on my face when he said that. These videos really never get old. Thanks for all these years of great entertainment dan!

I am a train driver and I think this is hilarious, the 'bing' sound is actually the alerter, AWS (automatic warning system), it tells you if there is a yellow or red light up ahead, not just to tell you to look up haha, and you have three seconds to push the white button next to the horn, this train is very different to mine but basically the same.
that last sentence...
i essentially rammed my own train up my arse...
NC: "...Greenford..."
Me: "Woo hoo, my hometown got mentioned!"
MC: "never heard of that"
Me: "daaawww..."
I love how it's snowing in this game and literally no trains ever run whenever it snows in the UK

The amount of hours, days, cups of coffee, and hot cross buns which have been wasted watching the wonderful Daniel Hardcastle is atonishing. Not complaining in any way what so ever, keep up the good work Dan!

I remember that I watched this video after coming home from school (no idea how I started watching this video but I did) and it hit 4pm when I went on to his channel to subscribe and he had JUST released Hard Time Part 2. 8 years later, still here. Also, I'm now older than he was in this video.

Don't bring it up to full notch straight away because:
1. You could damage the engines
2. The wheels could slip
3. The passengers are expecting a nice, smooth and comfortable journey
Also, HSTs don't usually stop at stations such as, West Drayton, Ivor or Taplow. They would usually stop at Reading, Didcot Parkway or Oxford. But if they travel on the oxford line, they usually miss out Didcot parkway, but in real life, HSTs call at Didcot Parkway if they are heading to Swansea or Bristol.

18:40 It's the coupling view for scenarios when you join onto other trains. e.g. Preston Park to Brighton in Brighton you use that view to join another train.

I know this is years old but, the BING is the AWS, makes sure the driver is present in the cab and you push a button to confirm you are there
he didnt cnfirm it, so thats why the train shut off at about 17:00

That's the DSD, AWS is an alarm hat goes off to alert you that you're approaching an amber and red signal! If green it just bings otherwise it requires a response!

So what? -there's thousands of dollar's worth of DLC and add-ons for Flightsim too. It's how this type of game works; one buys as much or as little extra content as one wants. I, for example, don't own any add-on steam locomotives, they're just not my thing.
It's also not something which is supposed to be aquired in one go... it trickles as one aquires one or two items at a time during Steam Sales or such when one indulges oneself with some new content for the game.
It's our spare time, our money and our perogative... if you don't see yourself enjoying the game, that's totally fine, but the amount of DLC as an argument for not trying it is a total non-starter, imnsho. Try it, running a train to time is trickier than it appears.
Edit: heck, getting a train from the depot into a platform without screwing up is trickier than it appears, let alone driving it in service. ;)
@@JVerschueren what if you get 3rd party DLC and you need a route for it that your never going to drive EG. london to brighton for £25 but you only want that 3rd party free route

The Ding is an AWS - automatic warning system. When it makes a high pitch ding it means that the signal ahead is clear. when it makes this noise at 16:46 it means that the you need to prepare your self for the next signal

I like to go back and watch his older videos after watching some of his newer videos because of the huge difference. In his older stuff he sounds more quiet, but his new ones he's exceedingly hyper. :)

J624 If you watch some of his newer stuff, you can really tell the difference between then and now. I don't know how to quite explain it. They're all still hilarious though.

The bells and stuff are warning systems. Green signals mean pass ahead. Red means stop here. The things on the tracks are part of the PTC system, I believe. Every bell I heard was about situational awareness. And when the train shut-down or went curvy? You had activated the PTC system, which then took over the train, put full brakes, and veered you out of harm's way. You know, after writing the above, I noticed how detailed this sim is.
I'm watching this in 2021 and I'm shocked at how Dan has evolved over the years and he still retains his funny comedic side. Keep up the great work Dan.

when you pull the red lever right down when you missed the stops you were just drifting. If you might miss a stop, turn on E brakes, pull blue lever right down to -100 and pull the red lever right up

that other beeping with the explanation point is a dead man's switch pretty much, it shows up randomly and you must hit the button that lights up ,if not it assumes your not here and try to stop you

I am guessing someone has already said this but here goes anyway. The Pinging noise is the warning that a green signal is up ahead so that you know if you can continue at the speed or have to start slowing down.
