for me it's how i watched this when it came out, played the demo a ton on the 360, eventually got a PC and now I have like 5k hours in war thunder :3

This game seems like War Thunder with some spiffy camera angles and no tanks.
it came way before war thunder, and for a good amount of time in war thunder there were no player-controlled ground vehicles.

Charles Dark interestingly, these are the ones with the terrible american allison engines as opposed to the Rolls Royce Merlin that made the Mustang MkIIIs and P-51Ds the iconic american symbols they are. They were hated by the RAF and quickly got rid of.
chocks are logs attached to ropes that are used to keep a plane or vehicle still on the ground, "chocks away" means to remove the chocks to allow the vehicle to move, generally so a plane can take off.
Actually the two types of people in video games are freaks(people who invert) and normals(people who don't invert)
normals are up is up? well there was a game that the walking was up is down but no option and in flying games i like up is down but if the normal (infantry) does not have a seperate option then i will go up is up while flying
I'm ultra weird, I never invert the mouse but if flying using a joystick or WASD then I always invert.

Chocks away refers to the triangle blocks placed in front of and behind wheels of a plane to stop it rolling. In order to take off the chocks need to be removed, hence chocks away.

I just came back to this video after years of not realising that war thunder a game I play regularly used to be this
IL-2 1946 remains my favorite in the series. Good modding scene too.
Not to mention that planes dont spontaniously explode when landing.

In landing taildraggers you aim to put all wheels on the ground at the same time just as the aircraft stalls, touching the rear or front wheels first is laughed at as a bad landing, usually referred to as a "two pointer" or "three pointer depending on whether the front wheels touch down together or individually.

It's more than just the same engine, most of the aircraft models and flight physics are directly ported over from WoP as well.

War Thunder was known as Wings of Prey before it became War Thunder.
War Thunder was based off of Wings of Prey, which was known as IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey in North America
War thunder was more developed on Birds of Steel, which itself came from Birds of Prey.

Isn't the reason you touch the front wheels down first because those wheels are the most shock absorbent, and have the brakes in them?

1. The P-38 has really stupid tricycle landing gear. There is one wheel in the front, and two wheels in the middle.
2. It has a long tail, which is a guaranteed tail-strike.

Zhana Kalmagambetova well in real life if you pull down on the planes steering it goes up and if you push it up the plane goes down. I guess I just like to do it because it's more realistic.

How to land: decrease speed, extend flaps, gear down, lower altitude, land on either back wheel or all wheels at same time, and add brakes to stop.
Nerdcubed version: land at top speed without landing gear with nose down

the best American war-plane is either the P-51 Mustang which was a fighter plane mainly used to combat the advanced air force of the japanese and suceeded in outclassing the japanese planes or the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress which is exactly what it sounds like (and interestingly enough was the influence for the AC-130 Airship only much MUCH larger as it was around the same size as a 747 jumbo jet)
Okay. That's for modern jets, where they're at epic speeds and they are 100 times more aerodynamic, so they have to use the bottom of their plane to increase drag. They were smaller, lighter, and much less "nimble" back then.
So this and IL-2 are the same game?

Chocks hold the aircraft on the aircraft carrier so the aircraft doesn't roll away. I think they use these at airfields too to keep wind from blowing the landed aircraft away.

I believe that inverted means that pulling back aims upward, never played this game before, but played similar. So that means that it's more life-like, and is much easier for some people, such as him and me.

1.The THR has to be 20-50 when going to land 2.start bring the thr down and bring the nose of the plane down, when the plane is about to touch the ground start slowly bring in it up 3.when you land put the thr 10 and start slowing it down. it works for me :D

Considering the way I play Birds Of Steel involves me always taking off and always landing,the last few minutes were both amusing and aggravating .

But what Dan doesn't know, any landing you can walk away from is a good landing. That means all of the ones where he didn't turn into a giant fireball were technically landings.
Playing in arcade mode yet crashing every time you landed?
Important: don't fly too fast when you're trying to land. Because even if you touch down gently, your speed will probably still kill you if you hit something at the end of the field.
Your speed should be just above stall level. The trick is to stall slightly before or at the moment your wheels touch the ground. This takes some practice that is why RAF fighterpilots did not start their career in a Spitfire but in a trainer like a Tiger Moth biplane. And after they got their wings, first they would have to learn flying in a Hurricane, most never got to a Spitfire because the RAF had far more Hurricanes than Spitfires.
You already found out that you can land a plane that is lighter and also has less horsepower like in that MS Flightsim where you landed a small plane on the bridge.
