I've heard the main reason for the subway system's beginning was the 1972 olympic games, that's why the olimpic center was in the subway system at 1972.
i'm sorry, but no, this wasnt the main reason. The idea of building a subway system was decades older than the idea of hosting the olympic games. The main reason was the high traffic in town. More and more cars were used and the public transport with trams/streetcars at its capacity limit. In the city center there had been an 1 minute interval already. So for Munich there was a need to go underground to avoid this high amount of road traffic. The 1972 olympic games might have given some more pressure to have the first lines ready for the games .. yes.. .. but they weren't the reason for building it.
You’ll find that the pressure of hosting an event often gives impetus to some long dormant transit plan. Vancouver and Montreal both got their subways immediately before a World Expo, Athens expanded their metro, Beijing Metro got a kickstart to expansion for the 2008 Olympics, and so on
Sure! I use Google’s Style Editor for the base maps, draw and write on them with paint.net, and edit/add “transitions” (ie. the software does the work for me) in Shotcut. Hope this helps!
And now nothing happens after 2010, Munich U-Bahn and S-Bahn transport became very nice new trains (S-Bahn trains were modernized) but there aren‘t any extensions on the Subway, the next extensions will be the one to Martinried and to Pasing but they won‘t happen in the next year. :(
There is a slight chance of them building the U9 and its counterpart for the U2 as well as the MVG extending the U4 to engelschalking and blumau respectively. The U5 will most likely be extended to freiham as soon as pasing finishes heavy construction. They are building the second Sbahn core line with the possibility of a junction under maximilian park routing core like trains to the south. If they don’t come around building the U9, poccistraße would be completely rebuilt, due to it being structurally unstable. Odeonsplatz and hauptbahnhof will be upgraded and partly rebuilt. Theresienwiese, providing the U9 doesnt get built, could be expanded to a 4 track station and lots of other stations are getting rebuilt or renovated for all sorts of reasons :)

Same goes for the S-Bahn

@@Direction-North still not making it the main reason.
Hello! I love these kinds of videos :) Would you mind sharing how to make these maps, I would love to try it myself.

1980: the new line is from Neuperlach Süd to Olympiazentrum
The U5 opens not to Neuperlach Zentrum the U5 Cousine down to NeuperlachSüd in 1988
