The quotes are random when Jak dies. You need to be in an active mission and this is the most common pattern I saw. You get 1 quote, die 3 times, get another quote and just keep repeating this.
@@Heoxy Actually you just need Jak to die and land on his back (same anitmation as Jak 1) to trigger Daxter to do a quote. Most of the death animations from Jak 2 on have Jak falling face down, which is why a quote doesn't always come up.

@@Heoxy The most efficient way to do this is during the "Find Oracle at Monk Temple" mission because the sentry bots deliver instant kills.
