But I decided to pick this up and was VERY rewarded. This was a treat. Honestly one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. 14:28 you are right, the director SS Rajamouli has said in one of his interviews that he thinks of some cool shots or action sequences and then tries to weave a story around it along with his father. That's why the movie credits go like story by Vijendra Prasad and screenplay - direction by SS Rajamouli.
A few comments on the movie on details you might have missed: 1) The bridge-rescue scene forshadows the movie! Akthar/Bheem is rescusing the kid (he is on the mission to rescue Malli), while Ram is holding the flag (his mission is rescuing the country) and dipping it into water (remember: Bheem is Water!) to do so. 2) Right after Bheem fights the tiger he is dressing up as a muslim (white cap and necklace with muslim text/symbols). Ram knows these dress codes and recognizes Akthar as Muslim. When Bheem is rescusing Ram from snake venom, he sees Akthar briefly praying at a Hindi althar. For Ram, THAT is the moment he starts to get suspicius, which gets confirmed when he sees the holy thread. 3) The vertical line drawn by someone on someone elses forehead is a blessing: Sita does it in Rams home village, and blesses him in the name of mother Godevari (the river goddess of that part of the land). Bheem does it in the climax scene in the forest, and blesses Ram in the name of Lord Rama (which seems to have made him an incarnation of Rama for the following action). 4) ALL animals in the movie (except the horse in the Dosti-Song (Friedship montage AFTER the bridge scene) were CGI, even the horse on the bridge! 5) Watch some of the behind the scenes and making off videos. It is unbelivable how much of the movie is CGI which you don´t recognise as such. 6) Telugu (the language of Tollywood movies) is spoken in Andhra Pradesh and Telengana. Alluri Rama Raju (after Sitas death Alluri Sitarama Raju) was a real freedom fighter from the region of Andhra Pradesh and was born 1897, fought from ca. 1919 to 1924, when he was killed. Komaram Bheem was a real freedom fighter from the region of Telengana, born into a Gond tribe in 1901, was a freedom fighter from about 1919 to 1940, when he was killed. The people in the song at the end were freedom fighters from other regions of india: - Subhas Chandra Bose (1897 - 1945) from Bengal - Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (1875 - 1950) from Gujarat - Rani Kittur Chennamma (1778 - 1829) from Karnataka - V.O. Chidambaram Pillai (1872 - 1936) from Tamil Nadu - Bhagat Singh (1907 - 1931) from Punjab - Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu (1872 - 1957) from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana - Varma Pazhassi Raja (1773 - 1805) from Kerala - Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj (1630 - 1680) presenting Western, Southern and Central India 7) Jennys last scene in the movie was planned to be helping Bheem with the plans (showing him the map) to free Ram. She was added digitally for the reuniting scene when the truck reached Rams people, and also in the end song, because the british actress thought it was the right thing to do and wanted to be part of it. SS Rajamouli was very positively surprised and happily added her to these scenes. 8) The dates and timeline of the movie are not representing the real world on purpose: After the flogging of Bheem, when Ram reiveves the letter, in which he is chosen to escord the next rifle delivery the date is February 23th 2021. But this isn´t possible, because the event of Ram defeating the indian Mob at the Anangpur Police Station takes place after the leader Lala Lajpat Rai was arrestet in Calcutta, and this was on December 3rd 1921. The map on the wall (in the scene where the case of the "tribal criminal" was discussed and Ram came forward to take the task of finding him) showes a world map, and all british colonies are represented with the british flag: Belize (a british colony) doesn´t has one, but Brazil (which never was a british colony) has it. Almost all cars shown in the movie are models that were made in between 1930 and 1940, the truck, in which the animals were brought to the party, is a sowjet truck from the 1960s. RRR is talking place in a fantasy alternative reality to our world. 9) The motorcycle that is thrown by Bheem in the final fight only weights about 29 pounds. His strength if superhuman, but not as much superhuman than you might have thought.
@@cinemalover4709 As far as i know Olivia Morris was not present when the song and dance number of the credits was shot. She filmed her scenes separately and was added in in post production (with CGI help).

I'm pretty sure this is a tollywood movie and not bollywood. This was one of my favorite movies last year and the fact that it wasn't in the running for Best Picture at the Oscars is a travesty. At least it won best original song for Naatu Naatu.
@@phoenixj1299 It certainly is not irrelevant. Many around the world still consider it prestigious. It can be a very good platform to increase visibility of world cinema.
This movie taught me the importance and pure brotherly love of taking a dive in a dance-off to make your bro look better for his bae. It's a lesson I didn't know a movie needed, until I saw this.
It is impossible to watch Komuram Bheemudo without tears even after 100 times. Several other places. I get very emotional remembering all those nameless thousands of heroes who sacrificed their lives for our freedom! We can never repay their ultimate thing one can sacrifice, their life!🙏
This is nothing ......read about Britisher's actions on india like bengal famine 1943 , jaliyawalabaug massacre by british army ....and many more .....you will learn how Britisher's human rights maintain that time
If you liked this one, you should watch the two Baahubali movies, which are at least equal to RRR (and have even better songs and more dances !). Also, as others have mentioned, Magadheera (this one stars Ram Charan who played Raju in RRR) and Eega. All of these movies are directed by the same director S. S. Rajamouli. In India there are several movie centers, the most known one being Bollywood. Bollywood (the name is a combination between Bombay and Hollywood) makes movies in hindi (which is the most spoken language in India), but there are a lot of indian languages and dialects. Rajamouli's movies are part of Tollywood where the language is telugu. Some of the Bollywood movies that I would recommend are 3 Idiots, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Dangal
In India we have 22 official language and most of them have their own film industries like for Hindi - Bollywood, Tollywood - in south for Telegu, Tollywood - another in East for Bengali , Mollywood - Malayalam, Punjabi, Bhojpuri, Bihari, Tamil, kannada, odia, Marathi etc.. all together makes Indian film industry which is biggest in the world in terms of film making in a year, and tickets.
Bollywood & Tollywood are not genres, but unofficial names given to different movie industries (different language & region). They both make movies of all kinds of genres. So India has multiples languages (languages, not just dialects). There's at least 29 languages with over a million native speakers, of which 22 are major languages (& also official languages of India, with English being the 23rd language of administration). Hindi although the most spoken language, is the first language of
India have many languages Hindi-bollywood Telegu-tollywood Tamil, kannad, malayalam have their film industries too Netflix have dubbed version(hindi) instead of telegu(original)
this movie is just amazing. I think it is a 9.5-10 for sure. Its just epic. Im waiting to be able to buy the physical media if it ever comes out because having to sub to a streaming service each time I wanna watch it, is annoying.
That movie is such an experience. I agree with Matt, I could have watched so much more of the two of them getting into buddy shenanigans with the occasional rescue thrown in. The moment the animals erupted from the truck with Bheem was such sheer exhilaration that you almost have to shout when it happens, even when you know it's coming.

Good one! I guess you have heard more about the different languages in India from the comments. Also, this movie was made with a budget of ~70 Million$. One of the biggest budgets to come out of India. In the last scenes with the dances the images...they are freedom fighters from various regions of India who led and fought against the British in their own ways. Although this may seem like exaggerated cruelty by the colonial British... but they were far worse in real history. Oh, and you see the grey-bearded guy who also dances at the end. That is the director. He makes a cameo in his films.
Heh my gf her brother and his wife watched this for the first time the other day I’ve seen it before and they LOVED it . They seen it was nominated for best picture at the Oscar’s so they wanted to watch it . But happy to see Emily’s mind blown was the best . Lol
Between this and Baahubali, Tollywood is quickly becoming "Pan-Indian Cinema." A great piece of historical fiction, the closest America has to it is "Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" or maybe even "Hamilton."
What blew my mind on seeing it again was knowing what drove him, and why he was SO furious when he was passed over for the first promotion. The first time you see it you're like Matt and Emily, you think "he is a force of nature" - but when you rewatch and you know why he is there and why that promotion meant so much to him it's like seeing a different film.
This movie has metamorphic historical epis ramayan references too🕉️🧡🙏🏻 Ram (ji) and Sita (mata) were reincarnation of lord vishnu ji and goddess laxmi mata ji they are every Indians idol, we worship them and love them ❤️
I hope you get a chance to see if in a theatre or with a group of people. I’m convinced that both RRR and EEAaO are enjoyed more as a group, even though both are excellent streamed as well. I was lucky enough to watch both in a cinema and loved them both for completely different reasons. Looking forward to the all your future videos! Also, happy birthday to the internet’s favorite cinema sherpa!
Ram's character towards the end was inspired by God Rama's character in Ramayana. Devi Sita was the wife of God Rama in The Ramayana.God Rama was the greatest archer of his Yuga and Bheema bowed down to the statue of God Rama before taking the arrows and quiver from him. By the way, Ramayana is the oldest epic in the world.
My favorite thing that is a subtle thing most western viewers won’t understand (I only caught it because I’m a huge history buff) is that Bheem pretended to be a Muslim as part of going under cover to find Malli. The tribe he is from follows Koyapunem (often translated as “the way of nature”), and that faith is really present in this interpretation of Bheem. However, as he knows this is a particularly known connection between his faith and his tribe, and he also knows they are likely looking for a Gind, he takes on an Arabic name: Aktar, and dresses as Indian Muslims do. Just a really particularly interesting part of the movie that’s referenced like twice, and only once by him talking about it.
RRR is a product of Tollywood, NOT of Bollywood. Tollywood is Southern India cinema. The “Tolly” in Tollywood is for Telugu, which is the language spoken in the states of Andhra Pradesh. Bollywood is primarily centralized in Mumbai, which used to be called Bombay, hence the “Bolly” in Bollywood. Bollywood movies are spoken in Hindi, which is the most spoken language in India, whereas Telugu films are spoken in Telugu.

When Bheem is rescusing Ram from snake venom, he sees Akthar briefly praying at a Hindi althar. For Ram, THAT is the moment he starts to get suspicius, which gets confirmed when he sees the holy thread.
3) The vertical line drawn by someone on someone elses forehead is a blessing:
Sita does it in Rams home village, and blesses him in the name of mother Godevari (the river goddess of that part of the land).
The people in the song at the end were freedom fighters from other regions of india:
- Subhas Chandra Bose (1897 - 1945) from Bengal
- Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (1875 - 1950) from Gujarat
- Rani Kittur Chennamma (1778 - 1829) from Karnataka
- V.O. Chidambaram Pillai (1872 - 1936) from Tamil Nadu
- Bhagat Singh (1907 - 1931) from Punjab
- Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu (1872 - 1957) from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana
- Varma Pazhassi Raja (1773 - 1805) from Kerala
- Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj (1630 - 1680) presenting Western, Southern and Central India
7) Jennys last scene in the movie was planned to be helping Bheem with the plans (showing him the map) to free Ram. She was added digitally for the reuniting scene when the truck reached Rams people, and also in the end song, because the british actress thought it was the right thing to do and wanted to be part of it. SS Rajamouli was very positively surprised and happily added her to these scenes.
8) The dates and timeline of the movie are not representing the real world on purpose:
After the flogging of Bheem, when Ram reiveves the letter, in which he is chosen to escord the next rifle delivery the date is February 23th 2021.
Thank you SO MUCH for these incredibly detailed comments! I've learned so much and now I'm even MORE ready to watch more Indian cinema!! Cheers!🥰
Thanks for your genuine reaction ❤❤❤❤
Added digitally what you mean?
@@cinemalover4709 As far as i know Olivia Morris was not present when the song and dance number of the credits was shot. She filmed her scenes separately and was added in in post production (with CGI help).

It's such a bliss to watch Emily's reactions and Matthew's predictions while watching the movie...Superb guys !!! This shows that the film has no language barrier and all who watch have same feelings like Emily and logical opinions as Matthew... :)
If you want another rollercoaster ride of this director another block buster movie
BAHUBALI-1 & 2 You will blown away after watch 😊😊😊
I'm pretty sure this is a tollywood movie and not bollywood. This was one of my favorite movies last year and the fact that it wasn't in the running for Best Picture at the Oscars is a travesty. At least it won best original song for Naatu Naatu.
Oscar is irrelevant.
@@phoenixj1299 It certainly is not irrelevant. Many around the world still consider it prestigious. It can be a very good platform to increase visibility of world cinema.
This movie didn’t deserve to be nominated for best picture
@@harishrao2000 Oscar is irrelevant when it comes to authorisation.
@@chumkrimson8161 This movie is better than all the nominations for the best picture.
We can never repay their ultimate thing one can sacrifice, their life!🙏
This is nothing ......read about Britisher's actions on india like bengal famine 1943 , jaliyawalabaug massacre by british army ....and many more .....you will learn how Britisher's human rights maintain that time
@@vaibhavpatel7766 Yaa and the behaviour of Britisher on the Freedom Fighters in Kala Pani was even more inhuman
Please don't forget Maryada Ramanna.... One of Rajamouli's bests....
It’s Telugu,change it
Bollywood & Tollywood are not genres, but unofficial names given to different movie industries (different language & region). They both make movies of all kinds of genres. So India has multiples languages (languages, not just dialects). There's at least 29 languages with over a million native speakers, of which 22 are major languages (& also official languages of India, with English being the 23rd language of administration). Hindi although the most spoken language, is the first language of
This is super helpful! Thank you so much!! 🥰
Their bromance offscreen too is as good as it was onscreen.... They have become the best of friends!!

Hindi-bollywood
Telegu-tollywood
Tamil, kannad, malayalam have their film industries too
Netflix have dubbed version(hindi) instead of telegu(original)
Magadheera is in my top 4 favorite movies. So glad Ramajouli and Ram Charan are getting some recognition now.
Same. Ram Charan became my favorite hero all through my childhood just because of Magadheera lol
The scene where in the night Ram realised that passion and emotions are more powerful than guns was really powerful
this movie is just amazing. I think it is a 9.5-10 for sure. Its just epic. Im waiting to be able to buy the physical media if it ever comes out because having to sub to a streaming service each time I wanna watch it, is annoying.
To me it’s a perfect 10. There’s nothing I’d change!
41:28 Bheem slipping past the gun is such an underrated move.
Wish version of Orlando Bloom had me HOLLERING! 😂😂😂
I have seen a bunch of reviews … you guys are very “in sync” with what the movie expects from the audience .. Emily’s screams of joy are all what this movie is about .. you guys are great … well done
You are so right - Marvel ain't got nothing on this movie. This is easily the best movie of the past who-knows-how-many years.
Your channel is gonna burst into thousands of subs and views going forward. You didn’t just discovered Indian cinema , you discovered a billion people . Love from India
I saw that you were going to react to this and I giggled uncontrollably for about 5 min knowing it was gonna be great. I wasn't disappointed at all and Mathew's one liners were fantastic. I love how excited you both got. Thank-you for a great reaction.❤

Huge credit and kudos to the white British actors who took part in this movie. If there is one other Indian movie I would recommend for people who don't regularly watch Bollywood (Hindi) movies, it would be "Lagaan", it's such a great movie.
Your reactions took me back to my first time! It was like experiencing the best movies I used to watch at the kiddie matinees as a youngster!
Happy Birthday to The Cinema Sherpa! This movie seems like it was made for your channel. It's insanity from beginning to end. So much fun.

To be honest your review is Best on TH-cam ever.. You guys covered all the aspects about movie .. your sense of perceptions and observations is wonderfully spot on
I swear that minds are blown with this movie.
Your reaction is very genuine and happy to see. You guys far better than many channels to watch it.
The building the story around the iconic shots comment by the lady is low key on point because SS Rajamouli, the director said that the iconic shots that an audience might enjoy are a starting point for the writing process.
I love the way you guy watch movies, you watch the whole movie without pausing and you have great reactions and conversations during yessssss great thank you ❤
Very good reaction, I have watched more than 20 RRR reactions and you guys are one of the top 5 for sure, keep it up.

Happy Birthday man! I’m glad you two enjoyed this movie. I personally think it’s awesome but happy you guys enjoyed.

Just a correction it's not a Bollywood movie it's a tollywood
You can tell it was an amazing movie because Pippen was riveted the entire time.
The last song they were real freedom fighter... 👍👍 Of our motherland ❤️❤️
Ram Charan was phenomenal in this movie.........So fit and bad ass than ever.....1 vs 10000 men, hit tiger with one blow .......so powerful than ever
41:51 in Britishers time bikes weights are around 70-80 kgs ( you can google it ) , thats why director created that scene
Fun fact : back in W. W. Time bikes used to be light weight that you could actually lifted them up like a bicycle
RRR 🙌🔥 I Have Seen RRR In Theatre 3 Time's and Theatre Be Like 💥🥳
Jeez. That laugh is so infectious. I am your fan hereafter 😄😄😄
Technically, this is Tollywood, not Bollywood. This version was dubbed in Hindi, but the original language is Telugu.
