As an added tip, consider going to the advanced setting to set the on/off times so that the DC micro pump doesn’t turn on and off every second the water goes just a hair below the water sensor level…it’ll extend the life of those micro pumps as constant on/off for minuscule water level heights isn’t ideal as it can prematurely burn out the pump…I still have the original ATO micro pump over 3 years now…works great!
It should be noted that you're not tied to the Hydros ATO system. I use the water level sensor, but also use a stronger pump since my reservoir next to the tank in a closet. Pump powers into the power strip that's controlled by Hydros.
Hydros makes things as easy as you want them, but doesn't hold you back if you want to do more advanced things.
Their advanced setting are fantastic! I use mine to have my ATO pump switch on once every 30min to 1 hr depending on tanks size to lower noise and wear and tear on pump. And I also use advanced settings to only run the pumps for a max of 2 mins to prevent issues with temporary blockage in sump/overflow causing low water in the return chamber. Ie prevent the pump from being "stuck" on.
I plug my ato units into the Hydros ATO setup, ie Osmolator/Kamoer into the controller. The main unit senor lowest, Hydros senor slightly higher, main unit secondary sensor slightly above that. This gives me rock solid redundancy on the my level sensors and has saved my ass more than once..
jimmy… refill ato reservoir with another bucket filled with your rodi & pump. lol
I did't set it up that way but I thought of that ;)
@@jimmynewbiereefer it can be annoying but if you have a 10-15 gal reservoir, even better. i refill it every 2-3 weeks
What's the length of the cable for the micro pump?
We need some fail over features and safeties listed, salinity is pretty important especially when it can have a huge effect on smaller tanks. ☠️
Hydros has failover features but this video didn't get into the more advanced features.
@@ScottieMacF yeah, that's why I flagged it because it didn't state a reference just in case new users didn't have prior knowledge.
Jimmy does that app/sensor of ato calculate how much water is being pumped back in when water is level is low?
It doesn't, but you can get a log of when the pump goes on and off. I don't pay attention to mine as my reservoir is auto-fed from the RODI unit.
I like this guy, he seems chill. nice not to see some kid. guess i am getting old. ha
any issues with the triple level water sensor? I heard there to sensitive?
