For those of you that don’t live near a safe rest Village. Let me enlighten you, the areas around them are infested with drugs and crime. There’s active drug selling and use all outside of them and around them. Homeless people, drug addicts, needles and garbage. It’s an absolute disaster and has destroyed some of our East Portland neighborhoods, not helped. Regarding housing vouchers I can’t speak to all recipients, but I have two housing voucher recipients on my Block and they have had their rent paid for almost one year now both parties have not gotten a job, or gotten clean. They are home all day up all night making noise and keeping the neighbors up and selling drugs out of their “home”. Presumably when the voucher ends, they will be back on the street. People need to be held accountable and have goals, not just be given free housing with zero expectations.

Blaming RCV shows you clearly know nothing about it. RCV is the only way to fix our elections. You still only get ONE vote so put who you want at the top. In each round last place is eliminated so if your candidate gets eliminated you get your second vote. If your second gets eliminated you get your 3rd...Rounds continue until someone has a true majority - 50% plus one vote. If someone does reach a majority in the first round or any following there are no further rounds. There is no need to put any more than 1 candidate but if you do you have a greater chance of having your voice heard. Do some research before making ignorant comments.

This is dumb... We are supposed to pick 6 candidates. But you only debate 5???? How do we even begin to understand who is even running? RCV is disgusting.
Blaming RCV shows you clearly know nothing about it. RCV is the only way to fix our elections. You still only get ONE vote so put who you want at the top. In each round last place is eliminated so if your candidate gets eliminated you get your second vote. If your second gets eliminated you get your 3rd...Rounds continue until someone has a true majority - 50% plus one vote. If someone does reach a majority in the first round or any following there are no further rounds. There is no need to put any more than 1 candidate but if you do you have a greater chance of having your voice heard. Do some research before making ignorant comments.
