@@Arcadelife1 I took a long time to use it and still more often avoid it in favor of Bloody Pox, but I do have to admit it is stronger than I initially thought. Anyway, simple answer - level an occultist on Dreeg’s Evil Eye and acid-converted Bloody Pox (see the following episodes of this video series) and you will wreck everything until you reach level 100 and then you can think about what 2nd mastery might be fun. If all you want is a Warlord build, there are plenty out there - Blitz, Forcewave, Eye of reckoning, retaliation and all of them can do pretty much everything.
Just got into it and decided to choose Inquisitor and Nightblade(I kinda regretted a bit after reading both of there skills) though I'm having fun being a "I may run out of mana but I ain't out of bullets" play style... I still have no idea what I'm doing
There's not really any wrong choice with mastery combinations, just that some are way more obvious/simple to get working and others rely on experience, lateral thinking or a creative mix of both. With the combo you have, I'd suggest looking at the attack skills and associated damage types, see what sounds fun and go with it for as long as possible before radically altering the build. Nightblade can dual-wield melee weapons and Inquisitor can dual-wield ranged weapons, so there's an immediate decision although you're not obliged to dual-wield anything and could easily play as some kind of elemental caster. Mostly, don't worry about making mistakes, you can fix anything eventually.
@@Arcadelife1 Starting Nec with 3 skellies can't br beat imo. It does begin to dead end if you don't branch. Occultist has the angle its the best of all worlds, IE support, offense and defense out of the starting gate.
@ Yeah, the term ‘starter class’ caused a bit of a stir… I’m recommending Occultist because it is very strong from the start, can easily go to 100 without a 2nd mastery, can diversify into many different builds and damage types (and pets) on its own and is, in my opinion, the best support class for any other mastery.
I love love love occultist, but I don't know if I can face another character where Im smashing blood of dreeg constantly. I was playing my version of this character last week and looking at 3 days off work. She was probably level 38 or 39 and I wasn't paying attention (I think I was half asleep to be honest) and got her killed. I rage quit and went to bed. 6 hours later I get out of bed and I'm sitting in front of the computer staring at the games character selection screen and I decide to go through my shared stash and clean it out. An hour later I gave up and said "Screw it". I deleted the saved game folder and started from zero. THAT is an act of liberation that should NEVER be underestimated!!!! I created a new Occultist and just now got her up to level 53 without a single death!! I think the best I've ever done was level 48... MAYBE!!! With all my previous attempts at this character I put my stash-stored MIASMA SET on her at level 20. This time though I didn't have it (HELL, I haven't even SEEN a single part of the set and I've already completed the base game and am now working on FORGOTTEN GODS). All is going AMAZINGLY well this time and I've barely put ANYTHING in the stash although I've already purchased all six tabs. This one is named "Anna Mae the Acid Queen". I usually try to stop before I get that tired but when I'm having a good time.... So all my fault. Taking a break from her now and going to create a dual pistol wielding Inquisitor just for fun. Gotta come up with a name though...
I couldn't leave her alone. So I took her to the end of FORGOTTEN GODS. And she got killed 5 more times. Only 3 to start, but that 3rd was at the same moment that Korvaak died and the game wouldn't let me open the loot chests when I came back. So I exited to the main menu and came back having to kill my way to him again. And then she died the final two times. And the loot in the chests wasn't really worth it. Please make a vid on killing Korvaak. I have no idea what the hell is going on. I'm so busy running away from everything he's dealing I barely have time to attack.
So now I put everything I had, in Dreeg's Evil Eye +, Bloody Pox +, Blood of Dreeg + and Possesion. What I got, is a glass cannon that obliterates everything in the game. I LOVE IT! 10/10 would go for DEE again. 🤣

Thanks for the Occultist support - it's a great class! The easiest/cleanest way to 'delete everything' is to just rename the save folder from 'save' to 'old_save_056' or whatever. I do that for every 'fresh start' video character to ensure it's a legit fresh start. The game creates the new 'save' folder if it can't find one when you start the game. Big props to anyone who gets that. Later.
@@charlesballard5251 Thanks for the comment, always love these lengthy war stories 👊🙂
Without google-cheating, the only Anna Mae I can think of (spelled that way) is Tina Turner so that’s unlikely to be the right answer.
@@Arcadelife1 Actually you are correct. And in the movie version of "Tommy" she played THE ACID QUEEN!!!! As to my character, she got killed about a half hour ago when getting close to 55. I'm continuing to play her though. She just got Crimson's Vile Scepter. I had to run her up to 55 to use it. She's now over 30K damage per cast of DEE.
@@charlesballard5251 I’d be interested to hear how these deaths are occurring - the build should be fairly resilient unless you’re being extremely reckless 😜
@@Arcadelife1 This one in the same dungeon as Sister Crimosn. I went in a second time to see if I could get a better scepter (I did) and there was a random totem. I activated it and started the fight. At least one maybe more of the bosses that spawned were HELLA powerful. I was maybe a bit dragging as well. I could have been more awake.
Thanks for the comment, always great to hear you're trying this stuff out.
I'm currently level 96 (hardcore ultimate), skipped Elite completely, haven't spent a skill point since level 65 because I want to do a video all about 2nd mastery. Should be soon...
@@Arcadelife1 Thanks to you, for making these videos. I'm a variety gamer and coming back to play Grim Dawn every now and then. And with your videos it's easy to play along and getting to know the places where to farm/get the items for the "build", and not have to dig around Grimtools myself. (No time for that!) 😅
playing along now what beast this is
Thanks for trying it - one of my favourite ways to play the game.
Nice
When a new patch come out, I reset/delete all my old saves (with stash and blueprints too). I often start with bloody pox / sigil occultist. No doubt this is my fav mastery in this game.
And you don't lose your old characters if you ever want to go back to one of them.
@@Arcadelife1 thanks so much, maybe next Time. For the moment I like to play with a full reset. But who knows for the next patch or for the further expansion
@@materafa957 What I’m describing is a full reset. I don’t know how you’re doing it but the save-folder renaming resets everything every time.
@@Arcadelife1 ah ok, my bad. I delete the files in the directory (userdate/steam). It works too
Still love inquis myself because of how powerful it is early on with 0 gear, and after the rune buffs, it has gotten even crazier.
Yeah, if it's about speed and levelling then Inquis is v good but I spent a while thinking about which class has the speed, the variety, and also the abilities for a support class. Ultimately it's quite subjective but I keep finding new and different ways to have fun with Occultist so it had to be this one.
I think you are so used to playing without the evade skill, you forget to use it haha even to speed up moving around
@@XuroX. Maybe. After reading this comment, I imagined what the game would be like if I used evade most of the time to move around and my first thought was I’d find it nauseating and then I thought the majority of comments on videos would be complaints about me constantly evading 😂
Purifier is said to be the easiest
Well ... I do love Purifiers but a Purifier isn't a single class and in my opinion the Occultist is the best class for easy starting, variety of potential builds and quality as a support class.
To be fair all classes are the "Best" starter, except for oathkeeper.
The 'Part 1' in the title and the '?' on the thumbnail might be a clue...😜
@@Arcadelife1 i'm a bit dense 😆
Yeah, occultist was my very first character when the game first came out. Now i'm getting tired of the hellhound and raven. I want my character to be able to do everything without the need for pets. If you overrely on a pet you can die quickly if it dies.
Try Dreeg's Evil Eye with or without Bloody Pox support. Ditch the pets, see how it feels.
