Don't know why he took the G425 outta the bag. His problem is his consistency to find the fairway off the tee. But yardage seems to be more important than forgiveness to him 🤷♀️
Same thing I say too. He hit the titanium one great... all those balls right in the middle of the fairway. Then splattered them all over with the "premium" one. Check your ego Rick... you'll do much better and be happier with your round if you get clubs that will maximize forgiveness.
I bought the Dynapower Carbon model the first week it came out.. I was in the market for my 2023 driver, and oh man this this absolutely crushes the ball 🔥. I tried all the other brands’ best, but nothing impressed me quite like this one did. Wilson Staff nailed it with this lineup!
I predict Wilson is getting back up there with the Taylormade and Callaway very soon. Their Staff model blades and wedges look absolutely gorgeous! Been playing the Triad golf ball and love it!
I’m loving all the love Wilson are getting this year. They were once the leading brand in golf, but didn’t move with the times. I think this year’s lineup shows they’re ready to take on the top brands again.
@@The_Tokoloshe - I play off 8.5 and use the Wilson D9 forged. They are great for me. I also have a Wilson Staff putter (one of last years models) and love that as well. I had a Wilson D7 hybrid and 5 wood which I sold to ‘upgrade’ to Taylormade Stealth. Problem is this was a mistake as I find the Taylormades not as easy to hit. I’m actually going to go back to Wilson and trade in the TM’s for D9 5 wood and hybrid. Wilson make fantastic clubs and the staff model balls are good as well.
I have their recent cb staff model irons, 8802 staff model putter, and really loving those so much I’m debating getting the dynapower driver and the staff model wedges
My first round using this driver, I hit 90% of the fairways and shot my lowest round ever with an 81 from 6200 yard tees. I was using a Sim2 Max before and it just never felt as good as this.
Wilson are going for it. Their putters are fantastic as are their blades. Might be worth having a hit with the driver and see how it compares with the new Cally and TM stuff. Good review Rick
0:54 i have these irons. They were my grandfathers and what i used to play when i got started. LOVE the old school leather grips. Nothing modern is near as comfortable. Grips still look brand new 50+ years later
I would love to see Rick play a full round with these. Perhaps he, Guy and James could each pick a set of clubs to go "test" during a full round and get their takes on the clubs as well?
I still have an older DynaPower 5 wood in the bag. Looks like the DynaPower will make a comeback in a big way with that price point and overall quality. Great review as always 👏🏻
I bought the Wilson Dynapower Carbon driver and Dynapower 3/5 woods 2 months ago, and I’m so stoked with them. I hit so many different woods in the store, and the Dynapowers felt the best hands down. The simulator results proved it, too. It’s funny because Wilson wasn’t even on my radar. The best part was the set was $300-something less than the competition, which allowed me to splurge on a new putter. What can I say…the hype is real with the ‘23 Wilson woods.
As much as I love the top-brands being reviewed I absolutely loved this review. It makes me want to go test one even though I have the G425 in the bag!
My prediction months ago, 2023 will be a BIG year for Wilson. There balls feel good and the clubs are looking better and better. I think they will make a push back into the top names we talk about consistently
@bigjmal I actually use them over pro v1s. Cool I may use some distance and yadda yadda, but love the feel and I don't lose them as often 🤣 who cares about 10-15 yards if that
Wilson's main Problem now are the lack of no upcharge shaft options in irons and woods. If they can increase that selection, they'll be right back up with the others again.
The Dynapower Titanium is $549CDN and the Carbon is going for $599CDN in my market , which is $250 and and $200 less than the Paradigm or the G430. I was able to pick up a 9/10 used G425 for $460 which to me, is just as good as anything I have hit this year. I genuinely believe that the best bet in any new model year is to go with something a year or two old.
Everyone who loved the performance of G425, but hated the sound, is upgrading to G430. The market is awash with 425 drivers and this means they aren’t holding their value as much as ping drivers often do (like the G400 Max did)
Consistency off the tee was the best with this one. Knowing you are gonna hit the fairways more often is better for the mind and game. Everyone wants to hit bombs but if you're missing the fairways puts more pressure on the rest of your shots to keep your score low. I would love to see you play a round with that driver including the the stats after. Well done Rick. Good on.
I just ordered my very first brand new driver. I was torn between the TSR 3, Calloway Paradym Triple Diamond or the Stealth 2 Plus. Ended up hammering down on the Stealh 2 Plus. Gets here Thursday, your videos have been helping for years, thanks Rick!
I got fitted with this driver yesterday in the carbon after hitting 7 or 8 total. I loved it. No shot was more than 20 yards off-center and good distance for me. I never got above 2900 spin. Coincidentally, I also fit best into the same 3 wood and hybrid. Price point was pretty good for a new model too. Less than $1000 USD for all 3 clubs.
I’ve always loved Wilson stuff. Played some Wilson clubs as a kid, used a Wilson tennis racket etc. I still use Wilson gloves and have a Wilson wedge in the bag. It’s nice to see them back as a more serious option for golfers again recently.
I would like to add that in Quebec, it is currently retailed at $599 CA (carbon model) and $549 CA. Competes with Taylormade/Callaway, but still pretty expensive imo. Less than the "premium" brands, but still expensive imo. Although, I will say it's nice to see a premium shaft on both models. Did not try them yet.
Love that you actually gave an unbiased opinion and didn't sugar coat or go against the product. I have a wilson older model and love it and want to try the Titanium now. Tnanks
As usual I absolutely love these unbiased podcasts as you have never been afraid of ANY BIG BRAND NAME and give your honest opinions of them. Thank you Buddy. I’m not running out just yet to try them out but I promise you I will. Cheers Rick.
That carbon driver especially looks really nice and seems to have the performance. Been impressed with how Wilson have developed their irons over the last few years so maybe their drivers and woods are now going to catch the eye! Good review Rick
Wilson and Tour Edge are both really stepping up their affordable club game. They both seem to put out clubs that can stand and compete with the bigger brands at far lower prices. I'd love to see you compare the latest from Wilson and Tour Edge up against Pingm, Cobra, Mizuno, etc. and really see if the big brands are worth the money.
100% agree with you there. My first full club set was Tour Edge Hot Launch 2 back in 2017/18 and it was a really nice set, be it with less technology than these newer clubs. Recently just bought my second set for my 21st birthday last month which was the Tour Edge Exotics E522 irons and E521 driver and for the three rounds I’ve had with them, they perform well.
@@WhatsY0UTUB3 Fair enough. A Clubs sound is purely subjective, though. How well do you hit it compared to drivers that cost 3x as much? That's the important detail.
Tested this Driver yesterday so came on to see what the reviews said. I just totally loved it, feel was great, consistency was top notch and distance up there with any driver i have ever used. Its a winner.
I don't swing nearly as fast as Rick (50 years old and my back has seen better days), but if my choice was "240 yards and in the fairway 80% of the time" versus "255 yards and in the fairway 50% of the time" give me the 240 yards every day. Losing 5-15 yards off your drive is ABSOLUTELY worth it. 8-iron from the fairway, versus 8/9 iron from the rough? Easy choice.
Great video as usual. Im here is the US and I’m not sure about retailers still have to check but on the Wilson website the carbon driver is $499 and the titanium is $429.
Wilson brand has won over 60 Majors in its history. I play with Wilson clubs and have been since day one. The launch pad irons are really great. My trusty D9 iron set cant be beat, and my Ultra driver from 2018 still hits it 315 yards on any given sunday. Ive spent less on three sets of clubs in 10 years than some have spent on one.
I attended a seminar given by regional sales representative of Wilson sports at Ferris State University for PGA golf management and they told us that the Dynapwr was going to be their new series. I can’t disclose anything more specific due to privacy purposes but man they weren’t kidding! Really nice! In my opinion Wilson/Wilson Staff has always made really good drivers and fairway woods. I’m still gaming my D-200 3 and 5 woods from 2015. Love ‘em.
Based on your results. The titanium driver is the real winner! Look at your dispersion, the carbon was all over the golf course with most going left with a HUGE draw.
Purchased a Callaway Rogue in 2021 and does pretty good for me. Normally would not even think of Wilson for a driver. But will keep an eye on them now to see how they do going forward. Would at least consider it in my next driver fitting.
I was walking down a PGA store and was pleasantly surprised when I saw these new Wilson models, I am more than happy to find Rick give such a positive review on them, these might be my new drivers\woods !
Excellent review as usual. These Wilson drivers look good. I finally retired my trusty Cobra F9, (which I bought new because of your review) and got a demo model Titleist TSi2 for about 1/2 the new price. I should compare that to the Wilson drivers now since I'm playing the Wilson D7 Forged irons. Could be a great match. Cheers!
This is great , everybody that has reviewed this driver has came away the same way , surprised and actually like enough to play it and put it in the 14 CLUB line up which is huge deal for wilson in my opinion. I deff think it's a fitting driver , like ppl will want to hit it in both versions and comare them to the bigger brands models and then maybe they do not see much difference and choose it based on price & saved money lol. Only way I would buy it but I would absolutely test it against other and be open to picking it outright if it was close in testing.
I tried the Titanium and Carbon yesterday. Felt like I crunched the titanium, couldn't get a clean hit with the carbon, and when I did feel I'd caught it well it was a hook.... Ended up buying a driving iron, will have another look at the woods in April.
@@ultimatejay I've had lots of lessons with various different pros over the past 20 years, but don't reckon I get great value out of them. We change various different bits and pieces according to the pro's ideas and philosophies, and I practice hard, but my scores don't improve. Ultimately, I've come to the conclusion that a teaching pro's job is to sell lessons, rather than actually improve students' games/scores. I've yet to meet the pro who will take a look at my game and go for a performance-related fee. Interestingly, I feel I have learned and improved more from watching and listening to golf tutorials on "youtube" than from a whole bunch of 1:1 lessons. So I'll paddle my own canoe from here thanks.
Great review!!! The Titanium grouping was amazing.......270 dead center kinda seems like automatic in the bag!!!! Forget the #s you "wanna see"....results dont lie!!!
I always love your review videos. You're always fair and honest. Even though the carbon driver went a bit further, I like the titanium more because of the consistency.
Now that Rick is a mid handicap golfer… (jk) lol…. Break 85 ish… Actually a big fan. Been following for years and love the content. One of the few I trust. Great review as always Rick.
Great drivers and much better value than the frankly crazy price for the new Callaway or Taylor Made. I have just bought new D9 irons with custom fit etc. Half the price of the big name and brilliant irons. Wilson have always made great clubs!
Got fitted for the carbon model and it has not disappointed. Hitting it straight and further than my Epic. Wilson is doing amazing things. Cant wait to see if they have a new CB Iron coming.
I bought the carbon model yesterday. Looks great, quality components and finish, and it outperformed every other driver I tested on my GCQ. Everyone’s swing is different, so you may see different results, but if you don’t give this club a spin because the only guys on tour using their stuff are Padraig Harrington and Kevin Streelman, you’re making a huge mistake.
Really enjoy you reviewing on the golf course. Got to say the best one would be the titanium as the dispersion was so much better than the carbon. And for a possible few less hard that’s got to be better. Thanks Rick. Always good to watch.
The review I've wanted to see. These drivers ( especially the Carbon model ) have been getting some seriously good prise. I'm going to get fitted for the Carbon model I think. Great review RS
man i’ve owned my cleveland launcher 400 for a number of years now. i absolutely love it, i’ve tried many different styles but im so used to my drivers loft it’s impossible for me to switch. i can hit a comfortable 225-250 with it on a good day, the occasional 250+ glad to know i need to be keeping my eyes open. thanks rick!
I started with Wilson as a child, with a baseball glove; later playing tennis with Wilson racquets. So, Wilson golf clubs were a natural for me: quality & good prices.
Great Review! If this had been last year, I would have given this a solid look vs the ST Max LS I ended up picking up. But I'm a Wilson slappy, with the last name, how can I not be. I already play the D9 irons and the Triad ball. I'm in the market for a new 7 wood and the Dynapower is hands down the best one I hit so far(and $100 cheaper)! Don't sleep on this brand, great bang for the buck!
Gorgeous looking drivers. To be fair I haven't played anything but Wilson gear for over a decade now, after my Cleveland CG1 Irons got nicked. Wilson is comfortably the best bang for the buck in golf today.
Well this is the best news I've had all day. I have been a Wilson fan my whole golf life. They've always been good value, but hopefully starting to play with the big names again. Can we bother you for a direct shootout, TM2, Aero, Paradym, Wilson, G430, 10 shots with data, maybe you and 1 or 2 other people??
I actually spotted this driver at my local golf store last week. Its a pretty nice bit of gear. I remember my old wilson deep reds actuslly being a decent set of clubs for me as a novice.
I'd be curious to see a poll of how many people buy the season's brand new clubs at full MSRP. I've been playing for 13 years and have never once bought a brand new in plastic club. I've always been of the camp to wait or buy last years model which hasn't changed that much for much less (often 40-50% off) with the same or similar results. Of course, there will always be those people who need the latest and greatest :/
Been waiting for this review for a while! Great job Rick. I’ve tried both drivers and been using the carbon since September. Canada though so no winter golf. It’s great…for the price best driver of 2023 hands down
Been waiting for YOUR review on this one. Glad it's a good one. Still playing the Cortex and the V6 irons because of your reviews that made me want to give Wilson a shot. Will surely be giving this one a rip.
You will love the way this driver sounds compared to the cortex. I played the cortex for a while but just couldn’t get used to the sound! The carbon sounds and feels amazing.

Compared to the driving in his latest video that was chalk and cheese
Sounds like you should spend money on lessons
Thank you for this review! I needed this! Thanks Rick for the awesome contents!
By FAR my favorite brand. Lots of bang for your buck and for a working class player that matters A Lot
Best performing driver Wilson EVER MADE was the 275cc Killer Whale with the Firestick shaft, played by John Daly (and me). I loved that driver.
Really enjoy you reviewing on the golf course. Got to say the best one would be the titanium as the dispersion was so much better than the carbon. And for a possible few less hard that’s got to be better. Thanks Rick. Always good to watch.
Chuffed to see Wilson getting some love. Hope you put it in your bag Rick
You better add this to your bag right now
My father uses Wilson, and I think he will love this new line-up!! Thanks Rick for the great content !!
I started with Wilson as a child, with a baseball glove; later playing tennis with Wilson racquets. So, Wilson golf clubs were a natural for me: quality & good prices.
Looking forward to demo’ing this beast. Great video!
I will definitely keep these on my radar. Currently gaming a 905R
Awesome Rick! Would be great to see you test a few more of the "smaller/budget" brands.
this club looks sweet 🤩🤩
Nice looking clubs for sure.
Maybe you should have had that one with you at Bay Hill.
😉
Gorgeous looking drivers. To be fair I haven't played anything but Wilson gear for over a decade now, after my Cleveland CG1 Irons got nicked. Wilson is comfortably the best bang for the buck in golf today.
Based on your driving at Bay Hill, I'd expect to see this in Rick's bag for his next "break 75"
You've been expressing surprise at Wilson and Cleveland for years!
I remember my old wilson deep reds actuslly being a decent set of clubs for me as a novice.
thanks Rick, i subed to the review channel. appreciate you and your hard work.
Back in the late 90s the Wilson drivers and Fat Shaft irons were so good. Nobody played them but they were great
I'd be curious to see a poll of how many people buy the season's brand new clubs at full MSRP.
LOVE my Cortex
@@JT-xs4br also had sound issues with the Cortex at first. I switched the shafts to an xstiff and it sort of solved the issue for me. It sounds a little more dead than "pingny".
Everyone who's reviewed this driver has said it performs really well, but none of those reviewers have put it in the bag. Why is that?
Same reason people drive range rovers when a dodge truck does the job
@@dannybell926 They're sheep and only care about the brand name??
