I recently bought a 1974 914 race car very similar as far as components that yours has. I removed the roll cage and saved around 100 pounds of weight. I did a 4 to 5 lug conversion with the kit that PMB sells. I plan on having my paint and body guy weld the flares to have the GT

@Barry Greenstein, I was trying to figure out what to do with the cage. Mine is welded in but I’m going to gut most of it out.

I know this may sound rude and I understand perfectly if you don’t want to but can I ask how much you paid for the car thanks

@Barry Greenstein, I don’t mind disclosing how much I paid. I think I mentioned it on one of the videos. I paid $12.5k. That included a trailer, 10 fuch wheels and bunch of parts.

Looks like a fairly decent build for a race car. That roll cage though is horrible! God forbid you were ever in a accident in that car, getting out would be a PITA
How much did the car/trailer and spare parts set you back?

@Thomas Palmer, it’s a decent car for weekend fun. But the cage will need to be modified. It’s almost impossible to get in the car especially when the roof is on. I paid close to 12k for everything.

@@JioniDrive 12K That sounds like a great deal! Congrats and enjoy the ride :)

@@thomaspalmer4251 I thought it was a decent deal too. The great thing is 914s are still very affordable compared to anything else aircooled. I tried replacing the 914 with an MR2 but MR2 lacked character in my opinion.

That is a killer price. It is crazy what these 914’s are going for on bring a trailer. A lot of people don’t see the potential of a car like yours and don’t have the ability to do the little things that make it theirs, congrats

@Barry Greenstein, I had one before with wide fenders but I sold it to buy a Lotus Exige. However, I never bought the Lotus and I missed having a 914. So, I looked for an interesting one. A car with patina and history. It’s good the prices are going up so we can get back some of the money we invest in these cars.
