    I also have a '21 Elantra N-Line but in a 6-speed Manual. I've had mine for about a year and it was about as good of a replacement for my totaled 2017 Civic Si as I could've asked for. Love the fuel economy, the features, reasonable power (more than enough for me), not too big, solid storage space. I've got 16K miles on mine so it's good to know that it'll be pretty much the same once mine hits 50K. Also, nice to stumble across a fellow New Englander.

      Awesome! What color did you get? Are there any characteristics you enjoyed more about the Si?

      @Stargazer1331 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@auto_joe Mine is in Lava Orange (which I think was only offered in 2021). In terms of characteristics of the Si compared to the N-Line, there are a few differences. The Civic's handling is a bit better (having the limited slip differential helps quite a bit), the throttle response is sharper as well, which makes rev-matching downshifts easier. The Civic's Infotainment is slightly worse, the gas mileage is slightly worse in the city, but a bit better on the highway. Lastly, the Si had fog lights which I miss quite a bit as well. The real kicker being is that if I got a 2019 or 2020 model, it came with LED's.

      @@Stargazer1331 I figured you’d miss the LSD. I understand they wanted to price the NLine below the current Si, but I think it would’ve really helped the car’s performance.

    Great review! I really like what Hyundai did with the Elantra N-Line. It’s a strong competitor to the Civic Si for a lot less. I have an Elantra N, so I can tell Hyundai knows how to tune a car. They did a fantastic job with both cars. Great point about the tires making the car, too. I switched my stock 19” Michelin PS4S summer tires for 18” Continental DWS06+ and I actually prefer them because they’re more comfortable and quiet but still handle really well!

    About the 0-60:
    Yes, it's pretty slow when it's completely stock. A engine mount, better tires, and even a transmission mount bushing from powerflex (race black) will lower the 0-60 significantly. But the EN will still gap you unless you have a JB4.
    About the 7 speed dDCT (Dry Dual Clutch Transmission):
    For what it is, it's not bad. When it's cold, it does do what you said in the video so I got easy on it till it's fully warmed up. Mines squeaks when it's cold.
    I'm at 32K and it'll still shift super fast if you're driving like a racecar driver in sport mode like very very fast. It does learn from you aswell.
    The paddle shifters makes it shift much faster than the brains.
    A TCU tune WILL fix the sluggish 7 speed DCT as the TCU tune for the Elantra sport DCT has fixed the stock sluggish tune.
    About the OEM hankook tires:
    Trash. I literally slid in those in the rain.
    I am not getting a JB4. I'm going straight to a ECU and TCU tune which is getting closer for release.

    It’s better if you do the intake and intake valves decarboned once every 10,000 - 12,000 miles to avoid problems in the future. Get your plugs changed by 60,000 miles. It’s a turbocharged engine so sooner is recommended. I do my plugs myself every 20,000 mi. It’s worth it to me

    Good content. Two sets of tires in NE really makes a difference. The Michelin pilot sport 4s on the WRX increased corner speeds dramatically.

    • @auto_joe
      @auto_joe  ปีที่แล้ว

      Looking back on it I definitely should’ve gone that route. It’s pretty much impossible to find a tire without some sort of compromise so having two sets, one for each season is definitely the better way to get the best of both worlds. Thank you for the comment, Zach!

    Have you taken any long, single-day road trips? I'd say around 600+ miles.
    I ask because I have a '13 Impreza Sport L. that I plan to trade in soon, and a few of my choices are this car, civic, corolla, or just a new gen Impreza. (probably Impreza RS despite it being kinda a joke with a 2.5 with barely additional horsepower, no turbo, and that god-awful tablet infotainment.)

    • @auto_joe
      @auto_joe  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Round trip 600 miles yes. My only gripes for road trips would be the seats if you are 200+ lbs and lack of trunk space. The seats hurt my back after a while because of the side bolstering. The ride quality, infotainment, and cabin space make for a great trip.

      Opt for full blown winter tires if you can. All seasons are fine but winter tires will allow you to drive through anything, mindful of ground clearance still since it’s a sedan

  • @druStryker
    @druStryker ปีที่แล้ว

    Did your n line come with the Hankook all seasons? I have a 23 n line that came with em and I can feel every nook and cranny on the road, wondering if a better set of tires will make this better (at least marginally). Thanks for the video!

    • @auto_joe
      @auto_joe  ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine did too yes. I actually liked those tires and didn’t feel like they gave me too much road feel. I now have Continental DSW06+’s which have been good as well but decreased my fuel efficiency a little bit. If weather in your area and your wallet permits, you could look into getting nice summer tires and then switch over to a winter set at the end of the season. I haven’t tried tons of different tires but there are reviews online that you can trust regarding different brands and models of tires. Lastly, if switching tires doesn’t help you could opt for a smaller rim to give you more sidewall. It will help if the roads are bad in your area!
