This W222 Chassis S class has been quite the car, one of the most stand out experiences I have had. If you have experience with this car, please leave your thoughts in the comments below. It’s a model year ‘14 S-Class or newer not a ‘13. The delay your experiencing with throttle inputs isn’t turbo lag it’s a designed feature of larger engined Mercedes. If you want all the power you have to stab the throttle to the overdrive button. Try to get your hands on a ‘12-‘16 E550. It has that same twin turbo motor but in a smaller more driver focused package, 402 hp 448 bhp. Such a sleeper!

    • @MeynMotorGroup

you probably wouldn’t believe, but the guy who told me that was actually “connected”. He used to run one of the largest privately owned mortgage lending groups in New Jersey. His vehicle lineup was ridiculous. Silver g55 amg, two toned black:Himalayan red maybach 62s, flying spur, 911 turbo, artic White s600, matching land cruisers was just what I saw...Right before the financial crisis of ‘07 happened one of his offices got raided by the feds but he was tipped off and all the computers and docs where removed from the building the night before..

Its such a phenomenal car to drive. So smooth, so luxurious, and you definitely feel like the king of the road. Another thing worth noting is that when you put the cars suspension and engine in Sport mode its a blast to drive with that 450+ HP V8 😍

Mercedes are reliable if properly taken care of like any car. Cars that were this highly engineered and ahead of its time will be more expensive to maintain so people must not complain. But look after it and it'll go for years. Look, 150k miles and still driving like new. And that's a testament to their build quality, solidity and engineering. My dad has a 2005 C Class with 300,000kms and it drives like new. Interior looks immaculate. Paint is still excellent. That's quality products.

Big thumbs up to you on this fantastic review!!! Believe it are not, you answered all my question before asking. I'm a previous owner of the 2011 s550 witch I miss dearly, but now that you mention this generation ride smoother, I'm sold. Smooth, quiet, and sound system is of upmost important to me. My old 2011 s550 had amg 20" rims which give it a harder ride, this is why I'm not treating myself to a brand new one. You had mention that you hope they don't change things for the worst. Well they did. The 20" rims not good. They turned it into a limo catering for the back passenger. I don't care about all that stuff for a back passenger. This just means there are going to be more unnecessary things to break. The 2018 s550 has the baddest head lights of all! You know when it's coming. With that said, I will be hunting the country for a 2018 s550 with 18" rims in immaculate condition certified under 30,000 miles. This high mile review was great to know because that amazing car is a keeper.

You have answered my question ! Thanks. I have owned MB products since 1998. That SLK, kept it for 18 y and 40k miles. Never had ONE issue with that car. I have a CLS 2012 with 60k miles, again, no major issues. I bought a 2018 S450 (propulsion) in February with 30,000m. LOOVVEE the car. I’m older and now i want peace and quiet. Found it ! The answer you gave me is that the car is growing old very well (as my CLS). I looked at the new generation S (2021). I will be polite here, i don’t like the interior and i think there’s WAY TO MUCH technology for it to be a good buy for the long term. I have decided to exchange my S for the same 2020 with the least mileage possible. I will keep that one for a good 10 years.

When something goes wrong, it’ll be super expensive to fix. If you want reliability, Lexus but if you want the best comfort and luxury that’ll cost a bit a dough, the s class

Great video. Thank you. I previously had a '96 S-320 short wheel base. I love that car. Had to get rid of it after a couple years since I was in a more 'rugged' type job. Knew I wanted another S-Class one day. I just bought a Palladium Silver 2015 S-550 20" rims / sport package and premium and driver assist package. It has the Ash Exclusive leather and silver wood. 46K miles, one owner from local Benz store. Sorry for the long description, but I saw this color combination and was just blown away. It is a beautiful car and rides so incredibly smooth. I was originally looking for a LS460, but couldn't find one in good shape. Glad I didn't. The interior of the Mercedes I think is much nicer. Certainly has a lot of tech and the driver and passenger seats are better than any massage chair you can buy for your house. I'm very excited to be back in an S-Class and especially the S-550. Mercedes did a great job with this car. Sure I could have bought a new car for $40K, but I can drive this beautiful, one-owner S and turn heads for the same price... I'll do this all day long. Yes. Recommend the warranty. I would love to see you do a video on great warranties to buy for a car like this. Some warranty companies are terrible. Again, great video. Thank you.

I just bought a 2015 too with 78k miles, let me know if you have any issues. Oh and remember the wiring harness issue! Oil has been known to get in their and short out components, keep an eye on that! Replace all the coolant lines too when you got some extra cash laying around. After you do those two, change the oil every 5k miles to protect the turbos and you should be in a pretty solid vehicle.

The car with the best ride quality that I’ve been in, thus far, was the ‘96 Lincoln Town car ! A group of friends and I took one from DC-ATL and it was smooth af ! Right below that is the ‘05 S430, ‘06 LS430, ‘04 A8 & ‘96 Maxima oddly enough !
IDC what anyone says, Ive seen first hand that Lexus is tops when it comes to worry free motoring well into the 300k mile range. Change the fluids and drive with some sanity and your car will last a long time !...AND KEEP IT CLEAN

I've got a '17 CPO LS w/air ride but the 19's instead of standard 18s. While it's very comfy for sure, I always wondered about how much smoother the S class would be. Would you say 10, 15% smoother?

    • @MeynMotorGroup

Hey thanks again for stopping by! So this is how another subscriber described it, the biggest thing with a car like this is it manages to smoothen out all the bumps while not feeling wallowy. It feels firm and planted to ensure confidence.
Now the 2013-2017 cars did eliminate the wallowy sensation the 2007-2012 cars had. You still feels certain jolts and bumps in cars like the LS or 7 series which is fine but for the first time I felt that "magic carpet" quality all these reviewers talk about. Dude I really didn't feel a thing so yea I would say 10-15% again, this level of comfort is not necessary hell a Lexus ES will do it for me as a daily driver haha. Hopefully this made sense thanks again for watching and enjoy that incredible LS

@@MeynMotorGroup Thank you Sir! I have almost 3 years left on the CPO warranty, but it's nice to have something to aspire to. But you nailed it to NEVER own one of these bad boys w/o a warranty unless you have $10k lying around and don't mind if it leaves your wallet (this is most certainly not me, lol). I think the Merc's CPO is basically 1 year added onto the factory warranty when it expires, so when the time comes, I'll be looking for about a 2 year old one which lost $40k plus value and still has about 3 years warranty...

I bought my 2015 S550 in July 2014 and has 80,000 miles on it. I've replaced both batteries at about 50,000 miles. The rear brakes have screeched loudly whenever it goes in reverse since I bought the car and can be really loud in the wintertime.
But the overall maintenance has been minimal so far. I've got my fingers crossed since the dealership is an hour and a half away. It is a fine riding car although a rather expensive one.

Excellent question, I was an absolute idiot and forgot to talk about the G90. The G90 is as close to this as you're going to get. It is far superior to the Lexus LS and handles a bit better and handles better than this S class but not quite as well as a 7 series or XJ which is fine.
G90 is about as quiet as this S class and truly feels substantial on the road unlike the other large cars in this class that mask it size. Swear that the G90 is an incredible car.
Biggest problem with the G90, it has no swagger, no prestige, you feel like a nobody unlike the other cars in this segment where you feel empowered

Seriously considering an 08 ls460, there’s a few in my area for 8-10k. Definitely don’t want to sacrifice the sports car element of a car, and I feel like the LS is quick enough where I’ll still be satisfied, but I’m interested in what you might get for a budget of around 10k. Any suggestions?

Once it comes time for my next car the S-Class, 7-Series, and A8L will compete for my business. That I’m a current A6 owner won’t score Audi any brownie points in my decision. I will decide, very objectively, based on overall comfort, convenience (but not necessarily tech) features, space, reliability factors, and other objective factors. Most subjective factors (sans overall pleasure to drive), such as prestige, will have no bearing with my decision (after all, I’m buying for me, not for others). One of the big factors I will be considering - which one has an electronic interface that’s the least distracting. I look forward to this contest and subsequent acquisition!

Yea random actuators I'm no mechanic but yes I've heard there's like a Door lock actuator that went bad on some guys LS430 and that cost him over a G. Then the Brake Actuator on the LS 460.
But 1600 is nothing glad you got that and yes that's the beauty of the warranty when you buy up front, just roll it into the payment

Exhaust Sports Auto Yeah when I had that piece of crap BMW X5 (which ironically i traded it in for my ES350) one of the door lock acuators went bad. I remember the part was covered under an extended warranty thank god so i know it was expensive.. Dude Cary imports has a 2013 GS350 with 241k miles for only $11,455. Damn if I was in the market for a car this is a steal. Edmunds is saying retail thats worth about $17k in outstanding condition.

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

They're all super comfortable I would probably say:
      S Class
      7 Series/A7
      And LS
But all are insanely comfortable in this class that's not remotely an issue idk just certain character and quality the S class had it doesnt drive like the other Benzes. The other cars feel like larger versions of the other vehicles in their respective line up but with more insulation and comfort so perhaps that's why the S was so special to me. Again all are super impressive

As a European I owned many different Benz models, never had any rattling problems with any of them … in Europe those cars will run 300.000 - 400.000 km any day of the week , and then some … you won’t need insurance if you maintain and take care of your Benz , and don’t abuse it … S550 will give you years of enjoyment , just take good care of it … btw I own 2015 S550 and 2013 GLK350 right now , and love them both , both fantastic cars … stay away from a dealer garage tho lol … plenty of parts on eBay or other on line places, do service at local shops like Midas, Valvoline and shops that specialize in European cars … if you go to Mercedes dealer it’ll cost you an arm and a leg

Matt from CarWow said it well, merc used to have a Top-down approach where the lower models got some of the design language from the S class, currently its bottom-up, with the C setting the language for the E and S and imo it sucks how they are so similar that at a glance u can hardly tell them apart. But up close the S certainly has the presence that we love in an S class.

The new body is OK but they need to bring back the fenders which in my opinion made the W221 special. The interior of the 2013 also needs to come back with all metal buttons and rectangular air vents. The little keypad for radio stations and phone calls need to return which is much easier to use while driving than the little mouse pad like feature newer ones now have; very distracting and dangerous to use while driving.

The previous gen s class you drive had the same engine and transmission and it actually had about 50 less horsepower. So while it was athletic it was not faster than the one in this video. The 4.7 v8 amd 7g tronic tranny were use from 2012 all the way to 2017. Then it was replaced by the 4.0 in the s560. And all the previous gen s classes (W221) aged beautifully if they weren’t ragged out by stupid drivers amd kids. I have a 2010 s550 that looks brand mew and everything works with no rattles or squeaks at almost 130,000 miles on it now. The S class that aged like garbage and us terrible build quality was the w220 from 2000 to 06. Such a terrible car to follow up the acclaimed and most dignified s class ever, the W140.
