Brilliant video! I am currently working on a new epic comprising 20 years worth of footage and ALL the 57 BA 747-400's. It will online later this year. I too did that walk down the LHR perimeter road with the jumbo's and did an emotional intro for my video.
Thank you guy for this beautiful and very emotional video. I loved it, as I loved, and still do, the « Jumbo Jet ». I was a teenager when I attended the first coming of a Swissair 747 in GVA Airport :- )
What an amazing video, many many thanks.......We'll miss that amazing BA 747-400......I had the fortune to fly in it from New Delhi to LHR back in december 2013; such a great flight.
At the end of August I will be leaving BA, a career spanning over 3 decades. I have operated on all the 747s in your video, however it is the retro BOAC 747 that has a special place in my heart, I was at LHR last February to greet her when she arrived from Dublin, together with my brother and nephew. I was and always will be proud to have worked for BA, 2020 will be remembered for decades, as the most disastrous year for aviation, but I cherish the memories I have. I would love to know where my special plane will end up, due to the covid19 crisis, I never got the chance to say goodbye to her properly, but hopefully I will have a chance to see her one day. Thank you for this video, as heartbreaking as it is,

Looks like an amazing video mate! Just about to watch it, saw some of the grounded BA 747s at Heathrow in July. Got some great shots and a great video for my channel!
Thanks man! and that's awesome! I believe you were there around the same time as me, I remember seeing your video on G-XLEC departing LHR and I was there when G-XLEC was there!
I worked as an aircraft loader for BA . I have since retired, but seeing all those jumbos brought back some happy memories. I have loaded most if not all of them , remembering the registrations. Sad to see where they have ended up.
If you think the hangers look big from ground level you should see them from the roof, we did all the roof maintenance on them a few years ago, they were undergoing the adaptions to accommodate the A380
Just thought I’d say thanks for coming to Cardiff and st Athan these are both my local airports, i frequently come up to see the BA747’s and the ST Athan aircraft. I loved this video!
G-BYGC was the last aircraft I flew on last August back from LAX and flew on G-BYGG on the way out to SFO. Such a shame but glad I got to fly on both a retro and the youngest in the fleet whilst I had the chance. Great video!
So so so sad. Huge respect. So glad you got to see them at least one more time. I enjoyed the great editing. Weather was ideal. I really hope the world can get better.
Wow...very informative mate. I didn't realise BAs youngest 747 was purchased in 1999!! I knew they had a massive maintenance facility at Cardiff, I watched a video a while back when they filmed a complete strip down of a 747. That was amazing to watch (kids think I'm sad!!) I suppose the object is to get as long as possible out of 50+ 747s (plus other aircraft) so maintenance is the key. I read somewhere a while ago that some airlines will only do 3 strip downs (every 7 years??) then they sell for cargo or retire (21 year?). BA obviously could get that extra 7 years with there maintenance facilities. That's only my assumption!! Glad you didn't get a ticket at Cardiff!! Lol
O have an old book showing a day in the life of G-CIVA. Its nose cone was painted gold and flew athletes back from the Olympics. I was reading the book whilst at Heathrow waiting for a flight and what plane came into land? Yep, G-CIVA right there and rocked up across the terminal.
earlier i was at heathrow admiring all the stored 747s and thought about making a video about all the stored plane (747s in particular) i then can home and saw this video on my subscriptions! ;)
Hey just incase your interested, we did Cardiff a few weeks back and got right next to the ones in the distance you can’t see very well from the rental area. They are BYGA and E. it took an hour or so but if you drive into the house estates on the other side of the airfield suddenly there they are. So sad, my favourite aircraft. Last trip although I didn’t know it, CIVP, 5th Jan from Vancouver. We also did LHR this weekend (CIVD wasn’t visible, I’m surprised they seem to be moving them?) and St Athan and Kemble prior. So I’ve now seen as many as I could, without going to Teruel 😆 so sad. Great vid by the way.
Thanks for this and the other video you recently put up. Among others, I flew on G-CIVK. It just seems unreal, all of them with a few years of life yet, the celebrity retro liveries still gleaming, but suddenly all the celebrations are cut short dead. Not even a few last flights of maybe one or two, like Qantas did with their short joyflights moving tributes and farewells to their final two, VH-OEE 'Nullabor' and -OEJ 'Wunala. Aside the fact they have two preserved, a -200 and the first -400, along with a 300 stored that I'm sure will be preserved too. I'd like to think something could be done that one makes a final flight to mark near 50 years of them in BA, and go to a museum for preservation. A big aircraft to preserve, yes, but hopefully.
I really want to get the GeminiJets British Airways 747-400 in the Landor livery in 1:400 scale. Anyone have this model and if so, what are your thoughts on it?
Still think it's criminal that the jumbos are being grounded. Aviation history still needs preserved and I don't think any of these will be kept intact for our future generations of flight enthusiasts to see.
Aviation18 make one of he best sentimental outro's. Even though I have never flown on a 747 in my life entire life, this is soon going to be a part of the aviation history
Watched you vids in reverse order! i like your style and your enthusiasm. BA died when Rob Ayling took over, and we had the famous Maggie incident with the handkerchief! It has never recovered since. Seen as a high priced carrier with poor customer service. Pity there is nobody to take over as the flag carrier!! Thank you, Very enjoyable :)
Just a quick question does anyone know the status of G-CIVZ as I have a 1/400 scale model of it and was wondering if it was in storage or had been scraped.
I did the exact same route obviously not from Southampton and I saw all the 747 and 777 stored at LHR loads of time and when I saw that there getting retired I was not happy I tried getting photos and I hot some but some of them I havent got anymore.Edit: Giving the time this video was uploaded I probably saw you.
What a complete waste of such a fantastic piece of iconic engineering. As you say, the aircraft are no age, and many other aircraft types in the fleet are somewhat older. Hope BA will begin to realise what they have done! They certainly will do when customer levels return and they haven't got enough seats over to America with the smaller more compact planes, be too late then. I think your video's are spot-on, I'm truly saddened by BA's decision myself. I think that's what made BA special, the 747, and seeing it flying around majestically in the sky's
No problem for the help with the segments mate! Glad you added them, I had the same issues myself :D I'm so sad to see BA retire these birds, but ofc I can't really talk since I never had such a connection to the BA Queen. It’s so sad seeing all these beautiful aircraft parked up ready for scraping. Even sadder they have four more years of serviceable life in them. I hope G-BYGC can at least be kept as a museum piece, since it was only recently re-painted into the BOAC livery. A sad goodbye to the “Queen of the skies”.
While it is very sad to see this beautiful aircrafts go out of service before their time it is more important to save as many jobs as possible. On Friday, thousands of cabin crew lost their jobs, a lot of them worked for the company for decades. Flew on G CIVC Heathrow to Las Vegas. Was surprised how bad it all was. No USB port small ife screen with poor picture, just a really poor set up. Compared to Virgin Atlantic 747s........or delta. Oh yes delta. Want to fly with them again.
It's an absolute shame to see any Boeing 747 retired today, as that bird was designed when Boeing was a great engineering company! Sadly, today since the Mac Dac merger, Boeing is no longer a great engineering company they are a stock market company run by the Douglas regime who took over the old Boeing leadership. 👍

Hey remember me? Its been a long time ago but we have been talking to eachother in the past. I always said do you remember me in every video

Sad seeing them go. One thing triggering me is you saying Indigo, it’s not indigo, it’s india on the phonetic alphabet
Flew on G CIVC Heathrow to Las Vegas. Was surprised how bad it all was. No USB port small ife screen with poor picture, just a really poor set up. Compared to Virgin Atlantic 747s........or delta. Oh yes delta. Want to fly with them again.
Your phonetic alphabet needs some working on, except that good video.
