I saw Bobby play in person at Wrigley Field and he stood out as the best player on the filed making great plays and creaming the ball. I was stunned by how much better he looked than any of the other players. He was just at another level - on tv you just don't see it. I thought he was all hype but now I think he can be amazing.
11:54 I have that Bobby auto /25!! Love it! Also the Bobby Update SP is an epic card. How do the Update SPs compare with that price comparison? Loved the topic today. I choose both for my PC but Witt is a much easier buy atm for the price you can get some of his cards for.
Witt is definitely cheaper! I love that Witt auto. One of, if not his best rookie auto image. You pull yours? Looks like the update Witt SP (mullet image) is selling above the Series2. Update SSP is probably the best image there. Thanks for watching!
Loved the topic on today's show, super cool doing the player comparisons. Personally, I'm more bullish on '22 than '23 or '24. I give the edge to Bobby Baseball. Agree, there is a good chance all these prices come down (out w/ old in with new) however, also have to take into consideration if you chase the rare stuff like I do sometimes you get more options to buy now vs years down the road where there stuff is less frequent on ebay. For example, just picked up a Witt Heritage Red Ink on ebay last week for like $900. With it being /74 you just never know when you might see another one via an auction starting at $1. Even for '23 I'm trying to find an Edouard Julien Red Ink redemption and you'd think those things would be popping up but have only see 1-2 surface since release.
Yeah that’s exactly right. Sometimes with the rarer stuff - like red ink autos, ssp, etc - you don’t see them much at all as the initial release passes. Sometimes you have to pony up the cash right away if you really want something. Love the Bobby Witt red ink pick up! Thanks for watching!
The bobby witt jr stadium club is his rookie debut, after he hit his first hit in the MLB(double). And returned to the dugout to be celebrated by team when he scored.
Chris here - You mean the dugout celebrating image? That’s great to know. Makes the autos seem even more special now. Thanks for the info and thanks for watching!
Something to looking at - Bobby Witt Jr Topps X Crown Collection RC Auto /125. Great looking card. I landed mine to close out his Topps X collection set.
The Julio Bobby debate is a good one, and I think it'll be a similar one come this season with Chourio vs Holliday. Considering how polarizing the flagship design is, I have to agree with targeting heritage or stadium club autos for these guys. As a Brewers fan and collector of Chourio, the heritage and platinum anniversary sets should be my top targets since those were Robin Yount's ('75) and Hank Aaron's ('54) rookie sets that have huge appeal to Milwaukee fans.
Great episode guys...these are 2 guys who I feel are going to be like the Acuna/Soto prices movements a few years ago. Both are great players...but when Acuna prices where too high, you bought Soto. When Soto was hot, you jumped on Acuna's cards. I am not buying anything but BC color autos of these guys. Or atomics...people may not realize the long history of the atomic parellel with Bowman. If Witt keeps the defense up (or gets better), keeps the K rate in check, and gets the BA up I think he could pass JRod in the hobby. JRod's speed surprised me when he debuted. I dont think anyone was expecting the addition of 20+ SBs annually. Both these guys have the "IT" factor (Griffey had the IT factor and look at how his hobby is) and if they keep up their current trajectors...by age 30, look out. Alot of "IFs" in that statement but that's what makes the hobby fun. Funny thing is, at the National last yr I picked up a blue auto of Betts (BGS9.5) for
Betts prices are a constant source of confusion. What kind of careers are we going these young guys have that their prices outpace Betts?? (Nice pick up on his blue auto btw) You’re right about Julio - definitely has that IT factor. Hopefully he can keep improving! Thanks for watching!
I think it’s tough with these guys because there’s no standouts like the big 3 in 2018. To my knowledge, there hasn’t been a rookie since those guys to have over a .900 OPS in their rookie year; except for Pete Alonso.
JRod’s first 2 years are about as good as you can ask for. 2 AS, 2 SS, ROY, 2 Top 10 MVP finishes You’re right about his OPS though. But 22 year olds with .900+ OPS are incredibly rare.
The Elley vs. Carter discussion was great. I think us nerds put a high value on WAR and Sabermetric stats, which is important, but not as important as SportsCenter and TikTok highlights... De La Cruz wins that debate 99/100. For me, the real knowledge is combining the two to get the best indicative value.
I feel like the big thing with the JRod being nearly double the Witt, has to do with print run and production numbers, as much as actual production on the field. The Witt is a much easier card to find in my experience. I've only seen the JRod a handful of times in person (most were at HUGE shows too)....they both have HOF potential, but the problem is the risk wagering on players under 24 years old. So many issues can arise. I think the best play is buying anyone in the twilight of their career unless a person is solely buying to sell within a few years. Imo.
Hey guys! Do you think that a flagship gold is still an investable card? Or is it bowman chrome auto or bust? What would the most investable non auto rookie card be? A true topps chrome color? Or has it shifted? This is for a long term play
Chris here - I’d say a Topps black. Number 1 paper parallel, lots of history, numbered, and extremely condition sensitive. There’s so much Chrome, so many sets. I’d go flagship black. Thanks for watching!
One argument for Corbin over Gunnar is his hit tool vs lefties, Corbin hit .283 with a .721 OPS vs lefties, not bad at all. Gunnar was .209 with a .618 OPS vs lefties. The orioles want to compete, if Gunnar does not improve vs lefties he has legitimate risk of being platooned and benched vs lefties.
I’m buying Witt at the moment. Hoping he continues to get better. Would love to see Witt go to my Braves one day (dreaming) What do you guys think of the Topps black and white cards. I’m a fan. Love the pics and parallels
Chris here, fellow Braves fan. The black and white set looks great, but is that enough? It just kind of got lost in the shuffle of releases. Tons of sticker autos. I’d have ordered that set to be an insert series in flagship maybe. But the images do look amazing. Thanks for watching!
I have a few cards of both Julio and Bobby Witt. But I like Julio in the long run. He just has the charisma that reminds me of Ken Griffey who is my favorite all time. I invested in Julio’s orange sapphire variation out of 25 psa 10 that I got for a really good price of $2700 in January. But I also got Witt’s logofractor psa 10 so I want them both to succeed 😆

@@SpitballinCards A number of things, but it wasn't always the plan from the beginning. Truthfully, I pulled a number of low-numbered Witts in the first few boxes I opened, and took that as a sign. Yeah, I still like him. Tons of PAs relative to other catchers helps the WAR. This year is a big year for him. I’d like to see him impact the ball more. Great eye but I want to see more doubles and homers.
Chris here - Phil said it all. But I also can’t help reminding myself that Soto is younger than Adley. Age does matter. But as we saw with Mauer recently - peak matters more!
This is tough call between JRod and Witt Jr. I agree JRod has the IT factor…his accolades alone are impressive. I also agree both are overpriced. The future performance highly unpredictable. I’m not buying either but if I had to it be Witt due to being cheaper to protect the downside risk. Not buying Carol or Gunner but I agree with Philmington.
Julio’s first two seasons are about as good as could be expected. But damn, his prices are high. He should NOT be higher than Betts. It’s a tough buy right now.
Chris here - I like the news of ToppsNow and I know lots of people love it. I just can’t get into it. But I won’t deny that some cards look fantastic! Does the Evan Carter have the RC shield on it? It was it held back for 2024?
@@SpitballinCards It has call up on the card but no RC . I just feel some of the numbered first cards will hold and increase in value, at least that is the plan. It is an awesome color match and that is the only reason I purchased the out of 49 on ebay
I think this was a great episode you are all very knowledgeable indeed. I love card talk like this. One thing I was surprised though. You did not bring up the sp from 22 update. Not the ssp from Bobby and Julio. I was hoping to hear about what your thoughts on the second sp’s and ssp’s from those two. I’m a huge collector of Bobby. I’ve pulled a bunch of his stuff so probably the reason why. But I’ve pulled the j rod series 2 sp and the chrome update auto. So I have some cards I am keep long term. I did sell that series 2 Jrod sp because I wasn’t sold on him when series 2 came out. But I do hope Bobby can do better than you see him doing in the future. I know you’re not saying anything negative. Now I don’t have as much capital as you all. But like Bobby’s golds are graded less the jrod as far as I can tell. I have one in grading right now. Hoping it comes back big for me.
1st hello Scott,Philmington,Chris,T-Pott,Chris,and Lance doing his thing in the background I agree with Philmington I’m in favor of Bobby Witt Jr he’s made some all around improvements as far as his hitting he’s hitting some impressive breaking pitches if you check his 2023 heights compared to previous seasons you’ll see his amazing hitting improvement 🔥and lastly Gunnar Henderson
Chris here - just my Opinion and please take with many, many grains of salt. I don’t collect ToppsNow. Just not for me. I know other collectors who love it. And I understand why they do. But it’s not for me. Long term hold? Gunnar has tons of potential to be a big tie player for a perennial contender in Baltimore - we could make an argument that all of his cars are great long term holds. Sounds like your card is a badass auto. It just won’t be every collectors cup of tea. But enough will like it, I’m sure.
Bobby gets my vote. Bad team, no lineup protection. Not sure how much more value that may add that he is doing this well on that team versus a team like the Mariners. A side note would be stats for Acuna and his steals, Ruiz had almost the same amount of steals, on the worst team in baseball and had less games/at bats where Acuna was on the best offense in baseball and one of the best teams in history. I know that will never translate to hobby love/value, but I like to look at the opportunity that comes with a players success. Maybe this is one for Phil and those floating numbers he has in his head at all times.
Ruiz had more value in fantasy baseball than real baseball in 2023. If he can play every day for A’s in 2024, no reason he can’t lead the league in steals. Sadly, A’s have nothing else to play for right now. You think Witt stays in KC long term?
@@SpitballinCards Well said. Side note, remember when Beckett had them up and down arrows. Wasn't that performance based? I know the early rookies were hyped in the early 90's, but I really wanna see the hobby get back to that. Even players like Eddie Murray with 3k and 500HR, his RC should be 10x the current values. I do feel Witt stays long term and continue to bring up prospects. They would deal Salvy 1st before anyone would be my guess to snag some prospects. Any contender can use his bat. Maybe if that happens we could see Witt move, but they are going young. I am a Tribe fan so I follow my division and it's been pretty thin in KC for several years. I do like him over Julio, but not down on Julio at all either. Just an edge for Bobby when looking at the top 2 RC from 2022. Love the show and topics. Scottie keeps you all in line 😁
AFTER TAKING ALL THAT WAS SAID I WOULD LEAN TOWARDS J-ROD HAS SWAG AND HAS ALOT OF DETERMINATION TO BE GREAT BUT I WOULDN'T BE MAD IF GOOD OL BOBBY WAS TO BE THAT NEXT GREAT ONE!!👍😎💯
Counting stats matter. At this time, (Elly hasn't done it for a complete season yet) no other SS in the MLB has the combination of power and speed of Witt.
I think Julio is more overpriced relative to Witt than this "it" factor justifies. I also get a weird feeling about the J-Rod marketing machine. Maybe it's just me but it feels like the "charisma" is manufactured / forced. Dude is an amazing ball player and he definitely has the look but I worry that he is over handled. Might not mean much in the long run but it really sticks out to me right now. I think Witt is a much better buy right now. Having said that I am sitting on a number of big gemed J-Rod cards that I was lucky enough to pull so I won't be mad if he hits another gear.
In my personal opinion, I believe the mass production of cards and sticker autographs is hurting the industry. I personally try buying hard signed auto's(it's more meaningful) and keep the # of a card 50 and under.
J-Rod Gunner Martian Soto Judge . Witt jr will never get the love of these players because he is inn KC and not dynamic !! He is how ever likely the better fundamental player all around !!
@@chrisc4264 no. They have autos as well. There first rookie autos are in 2022 series 2. I’ve personally pulled both. Base jrod auto and I pulled a Bobby auto #/199. There also on card autos that are live instead of redemptions.
Neither. Anything post mid 2020 is overprinted and was the start of a junk wax. The three worth buying is Ohtani, Acuna, and Judge. All three holding records that may not be beat (for a generation or ever) which is actual reflection in future price. Add the clubs/fanbase in, and you got historically speaking, future returns. The two mentioned is pure speculation at this point.
@@SpitballinCards well, In my opinion, this particular card checks all the boxes need to stand the test of time. This card is a true short print in the land of over saturated rookie images. As his demand rises and collectors pickup various Julio cards, they will be forced to all converge to this card. It is a collection separator. 2022 logofractor edition is the first year print run , so it will have the historical 1st year title. Classic baseball swing image on a vertical card. Many of the people who have this card also has the story of the card due to the original owner still having it, or being sold with only one transaction.
@@SpitballinCards definitely the logofractor. That card has sparkle. The SSP is definitely an awesome card, but if Julio make an mvp run, the logofractor will be bought out and you won’t be able to buy that card. That’s what drives up the price. That SSP will always have an active sale on eBay

Chris here - Phil said it all.
But I also can’t help reminding myself that Soto is younger than Adley.
Age does matter. But as we saw with Mauer recently - peak matters more!
Talk about Colorado, how about Tovar, 2023 rookie cards, this kid can flat out play and if he can cut down on the K's who knows how good he can be.
Carter Topps Now blue to 49 PSA 10 which is blue a color match and is an awesome card.
@@outwest100az sometimes a good color match hits just right!!
Thanx for the great advice just sold my car and bought a Kris bryant 1 of 1.....😂 jk keep up the great work boyz
😂😂😂😂
Thanks for watching!
Bobby jr all got damn day.
🙌
Can’t go wrong with either guy. I’d love to see both guys take another step forward in 2024.
Thanks for watching!
What are your thoughts on Topps now OS10D Gunnar Henderson rookie of the year auto orange 1/5 PSA 10? Long hold?
Chris here - just my
Opinion and please take with many, many grains of salt.
@@SpitballinCards I appreciate that Chris! Thanks for your opinion.
Good stuff guys
I have a massive Gunnar card that I ripped.. do you recommend I sell now or hold?
Which product/card?
@@Philmington I PM’d you on insta
AFTER TAKING ALL THAT WAS SAID I WOULD LEAN TOWARDS J-ROD HAS SWAG AND HAS ALOT OF DETERMINATION TO BE GREAT BUT I WOULDN'T BE MAD IF GOOD OL BOBBY WAS TO BE THAT NEXT GREAT ONE!!👍😎💯
The swag counts! And Julio has it!
I agree with you - either guy could take another step forward. Both career should be fun to watch.
🍻🍻
Counting stats matter. At this time, (Elly hasn't done it for a complete season yet) no other SS in the MLB has the combination of power and speed of Witt.
I am very high on Bobby, I can see him making a run at the MVP this coming season.
He’s gotta get that OBP up!! But he’s young and has plenty of time to figure that out!
Looks like a star in the making
Thanks for watching
I think you might be discounting the "Witt" name in baseball
It’s possible. Baseball is in his DNA!
Gimme Julio, dude's just got it. I'm so annoyed at the HR Derby format because he should have at least one title haha.
Chris here - I totally agree. Julio is ready to be a full on hobby Superstar
Love this show
Thanks for supporting us!
Based on some Witt prices I’m seeing lately, I have to agree with you
Well done
🤝
In my personal opinion, I believe the mass production of cards and sticker autographs is hurting the industry. I personally try buying hard signed auto's(it's more meaningful) and keep the # of a card 50 and under.
Just buy who you like. Thats usually some sort of a win
Agreed! Chris here - if you buy the cards you like, there’s never disappointment from not getting them in a box!
Thanks for watching a commenting
@@SpitballinCards yes exactly, np yw and thank you for the content
J-Rod Gunner Martian Soto Judge . Witt jr will never get the love of these players because he is inn KC and not dynamic !! He is how ever likely the better fundamental player all around !!
Tank god I found you guys
I'll stick with buying both like i have been since early 2022!
You better watch out for Reggie Crawford im JS
🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Julio 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🦾🦾🦾🦾🦾💯💯💯
Couldn’t ask for more out of a player’s first two seasons!
Julio has a higher ceiling. BWJ is a stud tho.
Chris here - I just wish Julio wasn’t already so expensive!
First. Nice.
🍻🍻🍻
I like 2022 cosmic..it has one of the lowest print runs of 2022
Evan Carter is the answer
His name came up!
Love his potential. WS didn’t faze him
Man, Soft Scotty couldn’t even make it sixty seconds into this video without being wrong on something sports-related… poor thing 🥺
I have plenty of 22 Update sealed stashed away plus Witt and Julio autos so I'm good. Both guys are overpriced. Thanks for sharing. Love the content!
You should pick up some series 2. Some great Bobby and jrod cards in there and product is cheap
@@nunzi83 Series 2 2022? They're only SP cards for Witt and Julio.
@@chrisc4264 no. They have autos as well. There first rookie autos are in 2022 series 2. I’ve personally pulled both. Base jrod auto and I pulled a Bobby auto #/199. There also on card autos that are live instead of redemptions.
@@nunzi83 Wait I did pull my 35th anniversary JRod auto out of series 2 yup. My mistake
Three nerds and a dude that actually knows something. The answers is BWJ
2EZ
Bottom left looks like Adam Sandler
I wish I had his bank account!
For that matter I would be buying Albies cards ALL DAY before witt or mini jrod.
witt 30hr 96 rbi jrod 32 hr 103 rbi albies 33HR 109 rbi
The Julio logofractor will be the none auto rookie that rules them all
Chris here - what makes you so confident? I’m not disagreeing, I just want to hear what you love about it.
@@billyworks3702 ok it’s got a lot going for it.
If you had to choose one card, this one or the update ssp w/Ichiro - which would you take?
@@SpitballinCards definitely the logofractor. That card has sparkle. The SSP is definitely an awesome card, but if Julio make an mvp run, the logofractor will be bought out and you won’t be able to buy that card. That’s what drives up the price. That SSP will always have an active sale on eBay
baseball cardaddict audio is terrible
Matt McLain will have a better career than Elly
I like McLain a lot. Will be fun to see how it shakes out.
I’ll take Nolan Jones over all these guys
