When one has been working in the field for a number of years and then decide to get N4-N6, do they need the 18months practicals post N4-N6 to obtain a National N Diploma?

Hi Monde , you are privileged that you already work for government and get all the exposure you need, next steps will be getting your hours of practicals at your current job obviously performing duties required to obtain your diploma. Get your diploma apply for posts in government 😀

@@theturf9000 it depend to what degree you want, for Bsc/BEng(professional Engineer route) from Uni likes UCT, wits, up and stellies it will take 4 years(Normal duration) (I know UCT will only credits you for drawing then rest like maths/physics they won't, even people with BTech/BEng Tech don't get them). But for degrees like Beng Tech( Technician/Technologist route) from university of Techs/unisa/uj it will take 3 years(Normal duration).

Hi Sandile first get in touch with the placement officers at your college they can assist you in finding the most suitable job for you. You can also look into jobs where you will do admin, clerk, secretary, assistant to senior management, bookkeeping. Business management is broad there is quite a lot you can do to gain experience.

Can one with they're nated results apply for a university degree once completing n6 without doing the workplace experience and doing it on a later stage, so can one use they're n6 or n4 and 5 results/ certificate as a further education option and what are the chances I'd get in?, I saw at NWU they have an option when applying asking what my further studying qualification is and it had an option of vocational certificate, but I want to know what are the chances I'd get in cause my aps isnt bad it's above 20 with 2 C's a B and a D with 1E (49%) and a 30% but I got a diploma pass, would the n4-6 boost my chances of getting in or should I just apply for a higher certificate and then go study a degree? I chose tvet college cause I didn't know one could study a certificate and apply the next year for a degree but I don't regret picking it because I gained a lot of experience and knowledge on a new field I have never thought I'd ever do or know( Public management) but I would still like to further into a degree option more bcom fieldish that's also a branch in public management.
Hi, I'm afraid I cannot give you an accurate response for that, but my advice will be to try apply online at the respective universities for example NMU and CPUT are able to tell you whether you qualify or not most often they only look at the matric certificate. I would suggest that you apply for a diploma in public management if you don't qualify for a bcom.

As far as I know you need 40% to pass all subjects in nated. after that do the practical for 18 months following the DHET guidelines and submit that to your college. the college will the submit to DHET and if competent get the diploma.

Hello I completed my N6 certificate but I'm struggling to get placement I enrolled at a private institution which is accredited but most institution want funding for me to be able to do the 18 months...how can I go about it.. because I'm also struggling to get funds
Im confused funding? Placement is more like an internship. You should apply for jobs in your field of study where the outcomes of your programmme will be met to get your diploma.

I've tried to explain that the college doesn't give out a stipend for the 18 months in-service, since it's a private institution .... Each and every department I've visited won't allow me to volunteer it's must that I must have a stipend , I've tried contacting seta...but no help

Hi, if you meet the 50% requirements in maths and science you should start in N4 however if it’s lower then usually students start in N2/3. Also note that N1-3 are being phased out you, won’t be offered anymore so if you make it you may be on the last batch of students of n2/3

Best thing to do is to go to your college for them to check if duties you performed align with BM outcomes. They should assist you with the diploma application.
The diploma offered at tvets is different from those offered at universities. The structure and curriculum are not the same. They might credit you it all depends on the unisa requirements. Its best to enquire at Unisa.

No because already have beeen working therefore your job is the’ practical’
I did what you asked. After N6 My employer wrote a letter to the department stating my situation and within 6 Months I got my Diploma.
