I think Tarja is at her best when her lyrical voice has time to breathe and soar and I don't think that a lot of the new Nightwish material allows for that. I find the faster paced vocals in songs really don't work as well for me with her voice.

Tuomas dropped the operatic voice in his new creations, it's a pity because Floor has a soprano voice, I guess is more commercial this way.
Some people forget that actually Tuomas is the heart and soul of the band. He can do whatever he wants. Parting ways with Tarja must have been hard for him, that's a certain thing, but Nightwish will continue as long as Tuomas creates the music. Fans have their sentiments but it stays in the past and will never return or at least isn't likely to return. Time to wake up and see things as they are. I think it is possible that this epic story of Nightwish 1996-2005 was deep down a love story between those two. The deepest source of inspiration and motivation for Tuomas maybe was Tarja and his lasting yet unfullfiled, burning love for her, while Tarja was somehow connected to him but unable to feel that same love. Maybe that is why the music was so brilliant and the whole thing couldn't help but explode and be forgotten like a dream..

I still remember interview with Tara after they kicked her off from the band... So many true tiers... I love Floor Jansen, but when I put Nightwish on, it's always with Tarja.
I watched an interview of Tuomas and Tarja talking when all was "well" and she was talking about living in Germany, to study voice there. They were out of touch even then. It is such a cruel twist of fate that musicians who all were so talented and amazing with this magical chemistry did not mix in life...that their goals were different, that they all got hurt, pains me for all of them. NW with Tarja is my favorite music in the world. Sad!

To conclude all arguments about what feelings did Tuomas had towards Tarja , this is the answer of Marcelo, Tarja's husband, he gave to fans soon after her dismissal from Nightwish: "To cut a long story short, in October 2004 I needed to ask Tuomas to come to talk to Tarja and me in our hotel room in the middle of the tour. Even though he knows Tarja many years before me, he never could achieve his goal. In this meeting I clearly told him that his chances to be with Tarja were gone. I needed to tell him that there was no reason to keep on trying any longer, since I married her. As usual he didn't speak much, but he said to me that nobody was going to be able to stop his love for Tarja". Even Marcelo might exaggerated something for obvious reasons, I believe the truth is very close to that.
Even in my humble lil mind, I’ve Always thought that Tarja was not only his muse, but his first/eternal love... I do think that once Floor got there and showed him another voice of pure magic that could also sing and soar he was able to reach a better place. But I’ll bet he still calls Tarja’s name in his sleep sometime.......

Apparent that given a choice, she is the singer with the voice and singing style he wanted for his music. With Tarja, he has had to up and adjust his music to her. With Anette, we see his true music inclinations and preferences. No more staccato too, in post Tarja-Nightwish songs like 10th Man Down and Passion and the Opera before. The singers are not the problem. Tuomas should be writing West End/Broadway musicals where singers like Barbra Streisand, Sarah Brightman and Celine Dion will truly please him after listening to DPP, Imaginaerum and EFMB. Or he just disband Nightwish completely and be a songwriter doing songs for singers who can really sing them as he envisioned them. Like Jim Steinman who was doing his own epic rock songs even decades ago through singers like Meatloaf.

If they wanted to release her they didn't have to try & demonize her. I read interviews with her explanations & they seemed rather legitimate & logical especially for a separate space so she can change her outfits etc. that was for maximum showmanship for the fans! She cud've came out in jeans & nobody wudv cared but she "performed" like an ultra professional. Deep,beautiful and a very sad song. I'ts my favorite Nightwish song and i will never forget it. I actually grew up with it and Sleeping sun. I am now into Black metal like Mayhem, Gorgoroth and Darkthrone. I will never forget this song though. It's breathtaking.

NW was the most successful band each member was involved in, since Tuomas was 'the founder' they figured she was replaceable & polarized with him but individuals are NOT easily replaced everybody has their own unique ability, talent, contribution. Changing an ingredient in a recipe can sometimes completely alter the formula, for better or for worse. My grandma said "you can't pull someones eye out then put it back in & expect it to work the same". Once the damage is done you can't turn it back

I've read all your comments - probably you're right, but I don't care what was the actual reason these two are not together any longer. The worst of all is, that they screwed up the true spirit of Nightwish - after all, TARJA was a frontwoman and the icon of this band, as well as Tuomas was the undisputed leader. Perhaps, they also screwed up their love & life, but for me (while I still believe in Nightwish's music) the greatest band of gothic / symphonic rock has been killed in action in 2005.

And lovely ballads sung soulfully by Tarja, and great, edgy, rockers too sung in an assertive, commanding style by Tarja. Now Tuomas writes "Noise" and "Harvest". Music for 13 years old. Cheers :)

Later she was attracted by a Latin Lover which eventually became her manager. As a consequence she was not longer sharing much time with the band on tours. They used to see her only on stage back then. The tensions between Tarja's manager and the band with Tarja in between became inevitable, when he was claiming for half of all revenues, etc. In his oppinion the band became only that big because of Tarja. The unity of the band was broken, to maintain their joy in playing, a decision had to be made, even if that would mean a regression in the band's reputation...
I like how short after Tarja gets married Nightwish kicks her out) nothing here to look into) Anyways, Oceanborn and Wishmaster were truly epic, you could clearly tell it's Nightwish and feel the chills. Later on the music slowly faded into thousands of faceless bands alike. Not only I can't tell one song from another, I can't even tell if it's a Nightwish anymore.
Tarja was spending too much time, with her solo career, not rehearsing and being available. Your whole view is Jaded, and tries to reduce the iconic value of the music. Comparing other bands to this ERA of Nightwish is Laughable. Go see 100 more shows and educate yourself.

Even in my humble lil mind, I’ve Always thought that Tarja was not only his muse, but his first/eternal love... I do think that once Floor got there and showed him another voice of pure magic that could also sing and soar he was able to reach a better place. But I’ll bet he still calls Tarja’s name in his sleep sometime.......

@@metalhead4624 From what I gather, Tuomas did give Tarja the freedom on the singing style to use, including for choruses. Only natural soprano I know of in the symphonic metal genre who also sing in mezzo, especially in Nightwish's first three albums.
@@nafisahmohamed4371 for a while and then, and this was one of her points of contention , he pushed her to go higher up the soprano scale...He did the same to Floor...in her former bands she seemed very comfortable with a powerful classical voice mixed with a full time metallic splendor and after 2013 wacken concert she took on much different, rockish tone on uptempo songs and ultrasost on ballads..you can't tell me that was her choice
@@metalhead4624 Tuomas (and the band) selected Anette from some 2,000 possibilities to replace Tarja. Apparent that given a choice, she is the singer with the voice and singing style he wanted for his music. With Tarja, he has had to up and adjust his music to her. With Anette, we see his true music inclinations and preferences. No more staccato too, in post Tarja-Nightwish songs like 10th Man Down and Passion and the Opera before. The singers are not the problem. Tuomas should be writing West End/Broadway musicals where singers like Barbra Streisand, Sarah Brightman and Celine Dion will truly please him after listening to DPP, Imaginaerum and EFMB. Or he just disband Nightwish completely and be a songwriter doing songs for singers who can really sing them as he envisioned them. Like Jim Steinman who was doing his own epic rock songs even decades ago through singers like Meatloaf.

I just hope they could be friends again as they were so long time from childhood and both from small town of Kitee. I wish they could forgive to each other the negative occasions what ever they were. Together...they made NW so Great as it is and the whole genre at the same time ... and as partners ... gave so much to each other and to fans who like them all.

If they wanted to release her they didn't have to try & demonize her. I read interviews with her explanations & they seemed rather legitimate & logical especially for a separate space so she can change her outfits etc. that was for maximum showmanship for the fans! She cud've came out in jeans & nobody wudv cared but she "performed" like an ultra professional. They made it a public humiliation for maximum profit & controversy at the expense of hurting the person responsible for their success

Deep,beautiful and a very sad song. I'ts my favorite Nightwish song and i will never forget it. I actually grew up with it and Sleeping sun. I am now into Black metal like Mayhem, Gorgoroth and Darkthrone. I will never forget this song though. It's breathtaking.
People make changes for a reason, I will never understand the break up of Tarja and nightwish, Tuomas, wanted Tarja, maybe he can't have her, her heart already been taken by someone else, maybe the excuse is we don't wanted an opera singer....or if I can't have you Tarja, we will make that change so the two for the tragedy ended unexpectly and seeing how painful the break up for Tarja, she was devastated by the news of her being let go or fired during her news conference, my God Tarja the symphonic metal queen break down so badly, like she lost her family, and she said she always remember this day where she was fired and she will never forgive , it wasn't her idea that the band breakup....it was something else that cause the fall out.....I'm pretty sure from all the fans been yapping about, love, romance, ended in a two for a tragedy....it's a travesty I say...but look on the bright side, both party has been moved on from one another, both part been doing extremely well, very successful, both found happiness, but wishing nightwish and Tarja reunited going to happen someday or sooner than we all fans expected...if it doesn't happen...I say life goes on....we can't cry over spill milk....everything meant to happen for a reason, maybe my reason is not good enough to bring hope to bring Tarja and nightwish back for a reunion world tour, but most fans like to see it happen....I'm dreaming of that happening....bring floor and Annette, they all great vocalist for nightwish....Everyone of these ladies deserved to be loved and respected in their own right, they all contributed great success to nightwish in all of the album's they made,this is one fantastic amazing awesome band, too bad lot of fans might not feel the same way as I do or like my comments I made, I am sorry if I offended anyone that don't like this amazing band......love nightwish always, no matter what, love Tarja, floor, and Annette, no matter what , they all great symphonic singers......true fans don't quit on the band just because changes been made, I for one keep on listening to nightwish, and to the former nightwish singers going on their solo career or found another band to play for...I say good for you and I still follow you.....

NW was the most successful band each member was involved in, since Tuomas was 'the founder' they figured she was replaceable & polarized with him but individuals are NOT easily replaced everybody has their own unique ability, talent, contribution. Changing an ingredient in a recipe can sometimes completely alter the formula, for better or for worse. My grandma said "you can't pull someones eye out then put it back in & expect it to work the same". Once the damage is done you can't turn it back

I've read all your comments - probably you're right, but I don't care what was the actual reason these two are not together any longer. The worst of all is, that they screwed up the true spirit of Nightwish - after all, TARJA was a frontwoman and the icon of this band, as well as Tuomas was the undisputed leader. Perhaps, they also screwed up their love & life, but for me (while I still believe in Nightwish's music) the greatest band of gothic / symphonic rock has been killed in action in 2005.

And lovely ballads sung soulfully by Tarja, and great, edgy, rockers too sung in an assertive, commanding style by Tarja. Now Tuomas writes "Noise" and "Harvest". Music for 13 years old. Cheers :)

Musically? Yes, they were.
As far as we know, Tuomas was in love with Tarja and she didn't want him.
Later she was attracted by a Latin Lover which eventually became her manager. As a consequence she was not longer sharing much time with the band on tours. They used to see her only on stage back then. The tensions between Tarja's manager and the band with Tarja in between became inevitable, when he was claiming for half of all revenues, etc. In his oppinion the band became only that big because of Tarja. The unity of the band was broken, to maintain their joy in playing, a decision had to be made, even if that would mean a regression in the band's reputation...

Anyways, Oceanborn and Wishmaster were truly epic, you could clearly tell it's Nightwish and feel the chills. Later on the music slowly faded into thousands of faceless bands alike. Not only I can't tell one song from another, I can't even tell if it's a Nightwish anymore.
Tarja was spending too much time, with her solo career, not rehearsing and being available. Your whole view is Jaded, and tries to reduce the iconic value of the music. Comparing other bands to this ERA of Nightwish is Laughable. Go see 100 more shows and educate yourself.

Toumas, an examp.e of fight, even you (may)??? Have lost your love; he kept the fight ti bring Nightwish to what it is now. His heart (may)??? have been destroyed, but he stil kept the fight, the work, the music the will to keep the dream in the music. A fighter, and an example that if you lost someone, you see ahead and follow your dream....... Never stop, keep the fight, stick to your will and dream big!!!
Something ends.. Something begins.. but it looks like Nightwish do not depends on singers.. its .. Music.. Fitted to singer and sucks all the best Singer can give.. Taria, Anette, Floor.. IMHO - When Im listen albums from all stages I can find songs what make me excited, sad, happy and cry.. Last two good things happens to Nightwisch was Troy and Floor.
