    Tip with ver.2 - When printing out the image, make the image on your computer/ipad/etc grey. So when you have the print out, and tracing over it with pen, you won't miss a line.
    Pro-tip 2 - Just like with tattooing, I trace/draw my lines with a very deliberate starting and stopping point for each line. Meaning I know when I'm going to press my pen on the paper, and when I stop. Don't stop in the middle of a curved line, try to finish the line to where it meets the next line (hope that makes sense).

      And if you do stop in the middle of a curved line, start from the corner at the start of the line one more time and finish it in one stroke.

    As a beginner tattoo artist, your videos have been a major help. Getting an apprenticeship can be difficult, and I don’t have time to wait to find a mentor. Thank you for all these informative videos. They make learning easy, and fun. 🥳

    I really appreciate what you're doing mate. I've been putting together my portfolio for a few years whilst working full time and training at night. I also have a family and I thought it wasn't fair to put my aspirations of tattooing in front of my kids welfare by getting an apprenticeship and dropping our income so I didn't know what to do. I just thought I'll keep drawing until I figure it out. My tattoo artist always helps out with questions when I ask and she said I can sit in the shop and observe any time but I thought, how much am I going to learn with a few days observing her here and there? This needs to be a full time gig in order to get good at it. I always thought doing it yourself wasn't the way to go as I thought it'd be frowned upon in the community but after watching this I've changed my mind. If you care about the standard of your work and the hygiene is on point then why does it matter? Sometimes the "rules" need to be broken. Thank you for your service as well👍

    • @ArtSomething
      @ArtSomething  4 ปีที่แล้ว +49

      I really understand where your coming from Jimmy, it's really hard when you have a family that relies on you, so I feel you there brother!! I would absolutely take her up on that offer to come and watch and observe her work now and then, as it can help you out over all. I do agree that a full apprenticeship needs to be full time however as you know that doesn't work for everyone specially in situations like your own. Tattooing yourself is still frowned upon by the community as a whole but thats just a bunch of crap if you ask me. So many great artist came from home. I agree with you Jimmy sometimes the "rules" absolutely need to be broken. Remember its your life you do what you want and dont let anyone tell you no or that you shouldn't or whatever. If you want something bad enough make it happen. And it sounds like you are determined, patient and responsible so jump in and keep rocking!! you got this brother!! 🤘🤘

    I usually lay the desing straight on the ink layer and then draw the lines.. and the stencil is directly on the other side of the paper, then just cut it in shape and transfer to skin.. and you will have those two thin papers still to cover up the remaining ink on the sheet 🙂

    Can you add both the stencil paper and ink paper to a printer and print it on there that way if you don't have the tattoo ink for a printer?

    What markers are safe to use on skin to make a stencil before tattooing? I’m not there yet, but I want to have everything.

    There is also a third way to do this my buddy dave I tried it you can use the same image paper and put it in the carbon and just trace the image from the same paper and it come on the back of that image you rock 🤟🏽

  • @OnlyFacts196
    @OnlyFacts196 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Too save money you can put your design straight onto the ink layer and trace it. Works really well for me and i can reuse the stencil paper about 10 times before i have to throw it away due to no more ink on the ink layer. I hope this helps.

    Do you have a video show how to reverse an image so that when you draw the stencil, it doesn’t come out backwards? Thank you for your time and the video!!

    I use to always make carbon stencils ... and the best way I found to apply them was with a deodorant stick .. something like Brut 33 worked really well ..

    Thank you for sharing your tips! Do you have any advice for small tattoos? I mean, what pen do you use in this process? I m asking you, because I usually thicken my stencil and the result on the skin is a bit different. Thanks, again!

    Hello! Appreciate what ur doing as I tried to get a formal apprenticeship and either couldn’t find anyone or didn’t have the kind of money they were asking for upfront. I would really appreciate a video on sanitation while setting up and tattooing because I’m unsure of what steps to take with that of course gloves are a given but after that I’m at a loss 👍🏻

    Thank you for the video. I would like to ask you something, why dont you directly use the printed paper for drawing the stencil on?
    By the way clip folders are pretty helpful while drawing a stencil, especially if there are not any tables around to work on.

    • @ArtSomething
      @ArtSomething  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You can use the printer paper but the problem with using the printer paper for me is that it’s not as easy to make printer paper curl around the body. Wow the thin tracing like paper flex is a bit more it makes it easier for me to apply the stencil to the skin. I hope this makes sense and I appreciate you watching and supporting the channel keep rockin🤘🤘🤘
