The idea of a cut line and sewing near it is genius. You are the only TH-camr I have come across that did this. It worked great for my first time quilt. It has given me great confidence for when I add on the binding later. I feel that there will be less opportunity for gathering mistakes to made. Thank you for your straight forward instructions. I have learned many great sewing techniques from your tutorials.
My favourite. Simple quilting stitches have a clean, unfussy look with a hint of folk craft. Also looks good on quilts or coverlets used in more industrial or mid-century modern spaces where clean lines look best.
I feel completely stress free after watching this video. Thank you for sharing your wonderful tips and the finished result looks professional. Perfect!
Great tips for quilting easily without a lot of effort. It’s always nerve wracking for me to quilt my own though I’m not a first time quilter. This was helpful. Thank you!
Getting ready to top stitch my first quilt. I was feeling apprehensive but your instruction was great. I feel more confident and it helped me decide the way I want to do it. Love the table and pillow idea. Thank you.
As always I love watching your videos. You make every step so easy to understand. I loved watching you make this quilt earlier - a definite "to do" quilt; and I love the simplicity of the quilting. I have a domestic machine so I enjoy the straight line quilting. Many thanks!
I love to straight line quilt. I use a twin needle sometimes to do the straight lines. Well almost straight lines. Lol. Took a fmq class one time and the instructor told me I was very linear, where others see curves and curly d's I see lines!!
Another great video. Love the idea of the pillow. Do you have a video on using fusible batting for a quilt, notably how to lay it out to make sure as you are pressing it stays flat. Thanx!
Your ideas are so helpful, Laura! I will use every technique that you showed us here - practical and charming quilting, and securing the edge before trimming and binding. Excellent as usual. Thank you.
I love your tip to mark where you will be trimming and then sew completely around the quilt before you trim. I will be doing this for sure. I also like the look of quilting near the seams - instead of the ditch.
I mainly do straight quilting with my walking foot. I only have a domestic machine so is the best option for my skill level...sometimes simplicity is the best
I love how you used this fabric, it really highlights the lovely print. What kind of pins are you using? And do you always quilt the entire top before stitching around the perimeter?
Great Laura. Never thought of the pillow idea. Really like each side of the ditch. What color binding did I use? Did U have to square it up first be fore you trimmed? Mine are never square after I quilt.
I saw a video where Rob Appel addressed that. He said he stitches all the seams in one direction rather than this way then that. He trims the bottom when done . The feed dogs stretch it a bit & at least will all be in the same direction. I haven't quilted yet but it seemed reasonable. Good luck.
i am in the market to buy a sewing, quilting and embroidery machine, can you please suggest any who does all three and also which one is your sewing machine?
Very helpful info. Can you tell me if this type of quilting works on any size of squares. I pieced a quilt top using 7-1/2” completed squares with a sash in between.
@Sandra Schmidt That will depend on your batting. Some batting’s can take up to 10” distance between quilting, the others cannot take more than 4”. If you check your binding package or manufacture’s instructions, you will see what they recommend. Use that recommendation to decide how far to make the quilting lines.
@desertnomad Thank you for responding to my question, it was helpful. I like to piece quilt tops but actually quilting them is another story…not sure what to do. When I purchase the batting I’ll be sure to inquire about how far apart it can be. Thanks again.
What kind of chair is that you are sitting in? (White chair) I have an embroidery machine and I need a good supporting chair with a back. Not looking for a cheap office chair from a box store. Thanks!
Hi Laura, I have a quilt very similar to that to be done mines not on point though do you think it would be just as effective as that, I haven’t done a lot of my own quilting and thought that might be good to get me going doing it more? My other question is I haven’t seen those quilting pins before I’m in New South Wales Australia if you could tell me what they are called please?
That’s a really nice set up for machine quilting but years ago I bought a really nice, expensive, koala, sewing cabinet and I love it. However I recently upgraded my sewing machine to have more space for quilting. But my machine will not fit down into my cabinet and has to sit on top of it making quilting really difficult.
It never occurred to me to put a pillow in my lap to reduce the pull. Great advice. Thank you! I can’t wait to quilt my next one.

Thank you for demonstrating with a real quilt (not a piece) and home sewing machine 🙏🏽

Straight line quilting always looks so nice. I like the idea of the pillow to extend our surface. Very good hints for planning the quilting…
Thanks for this tutorial, as a newer quilter it’s always great to find a technique that looks so professional and is achievable.

You are such a fine instructor Laura. Your vast knowledge and how you always know what questions I personally will have kind of amazes me. Thank you.

Very nice. Love the colors. So clean and fresh. Love your videos, always. Thanks
Hello Laura, thank you for another teaching video. I could listen to you for hours. Your voice is so soothing.
This is one of the main reasons I watch!!
Laura I would like to know if I could get the name of this pattern so I can get a pattern. Thank you
My thoughts exactly. Love her videos
I appreciate your explanation of how you trim and finish your quilt prior to applying the binding. Thank you!
Absolutely beautiful. You are a lovely person for sharing your knowledge of quilting. Happy Fourth. ❤️
Thanks Laura! Just when I was trying to decide how to quilt a quilt that is simple squares and sashing, that will be perfect!
Hi and thanks a lot Laura for your tutorial! Great tips! And I will try the pillow , what a great idea! 🌸🌸
This is a beautiful quilt.

Great tips, especially the pillow and side table. I’ve got some curtains to make and this will make things much easier. Thank you.
you are the best teacher so easy to understand
Hello Laura. What a lovely quilt. Thanks for showing us the Straight Line Quilting technique. I can do it myself. Be well.
Thanks Laura. Glad I saw this video. Some of my stitches is small even though I have the stitch length at 3. Will use your method.

A twin needle is brilliant! 🎉
Came up beautifully Laura Ann, love it and cant wait now to start mine
It really is lovely Thank you. That straight line quilting is so clean looking. 😀

Thanks for a great straight line quilting video. Your vids are are always clear and informative. 😊👍
Love this. Thank you for the encouragement dear friend
Great tip to use the pillow. Love your channel
Thanks for the great ideas, just in time for a quilt I wanted to straight line quilt on my home machine.
I sure do like this pattern. Will be making one in a twin size. Haven't figured it out yet, but I will.
Thank you Laura, I love watching your videos, you are wonderful to learn from. Watching from Australia 🥰
Your ideas are so helpful, Laura! I will use every technique that you showed us here - practical and charming quilting, and securing the edge before trimming and binding. Excellent as usual. Thank you.
So many great tips! 💗
Great idea. I’m just learning to use my machine for quilting and this technique will be great on some quilts. Tfs. 👏🏻💕👏🏻
What a beautiful quilt, Laura!💗
Lovely quilt. Soft colors.
I love your tip to mark where you will be trimming and then sew completely around the quilt before you trim. I will be doing this for sure. I also like the look of quilting near the seams - instead of the ditch.
Love this idea! Great for beginners like me!
Where is the pattern?
@@doloresboule7835 it’s not the pattern, it’s the stitching she is showing. Hope this helps.
🌸💕I love that quilting. Cute fabric, beautiful.🌸💕
Very helpful tips ❤ Love your content.
Thank you Laura for the tutorial, love the quilt too.
That was helpful, I prefer straight line quilting to butterflies or other shapes.
I mainly do straight quilting with my walking foot. I only have a domestic machine so is the best option for my skill level...sometimes simplicity is the best
Hi Laura. May I ask what kind of sit down machine you are using?
I loved this! What was the name of the fabric collection that you used?.......Beautiful!!
Such lovely simple stitching and cute quilt top! Thank you for posting this video!
Love your quilt!
I love how you used this fabric, it really highlights the lovely print. What kind of pins are you using? And do you always quilt the entire top before stitching around the perimeter?
Very good tips. Thx.
Like the tips for quilting set up, what was the clear item you put on top of the pillow?
What are these basting pins? They look interesting!
Thank you for sharing.

Can someone please tell me what model Bernina was used to quilt ? Does this machine have BSR? A reply is greatly appreciated.
Thank you great idea.
Love the video. What color of fabric are you using for the cornerstones? Love how it makes the quilt "pop".
Brava Laura😊👏👏

Thanks, Laura!

Is that a Bernia?

I've never seen those type of pins before. I'm curious too.
Me too
Laura showed those pins in this video. th-cam.com/video/xaPwzsLSqro/w-d-xo.html

One word: Carpenters. Happy sewing.
Lindo gostaria de ver o passo a passo desse trabalho do começo
I’d like to know about the pins

👍❤️😊
Thankyou🇨🇦💗👍
Thanks
It doesn’t look like she answers any questions. That is quite unfortunate.
