I don't know about everyone else, but I would love a wrecked Tesla. I've wanted a Tesla, but I don't think I'll ever will be able to afford one. The model X is my dream car, but any of them would make my day for sure.
If your camera is a Sony look at turning "product showcase"off - its designed for vloggers sitting in front of camera and "showing" things to the camera but when you're behind the camera it just moves to fast for this sort of work. Great feature, just not for us.
I like how in the beginning of this build you were talking about how this is the most technologically advanced car you've ever worked on and you were sure you wouldn't be able to get far in removing stuff before it got mad and stopped working but now you have the entire body off and it just shrugs and keeps going lol

With the significant gains from weight loss, it would be interesting to find the point of deminishing returns on the battery. Running the lightest battery capable of delivering sufficient current to make 2 passes, but no more, would set some serious records.
Sport Compact Car magazine did something similar to a early 00s Sentra. But they removed parts, then did a run down the drag strip. After that they remove more and did another ru. Kept going until it was in a similar state. IIRC, they took a 16 second car and made it a 14 or 13 second car by removing weight. The article is out there in the aether of the internet, just have to Google it.
I love that in America you can do whatever you want with cars. In the UK, you would have been pulled over and probably had it impounded and fined and have to go to court and get 6 points minimum (for reference 12 points and you lose your license for 6 months)

Either way- I would be very interested to see the results if this were done to a plaid that can already run a 1.9 - 2.2 sec 0-60 :))

Yeah given that the 0 to 60 is almost entirely dependent on power to weight ratio (assuming there isn't a traction problem) removing a ton of weight is going to make a big difference.
Hey man I think your camera issue coukd be a fixed if you used a higher F-stop, then when your hand comes into frame the range of focus will be on both rather than just your hand. Hope that helps 🤝

Since the new camera is focusing on your hand so fast maybe consider starting to use a laser pointer then you’re showing different things in the shots. Just an idea.
Would definitely like a rebuilt Tesla as a giveaway car (and see it rebuilt too!). How about a custom color? This current build has my attention as I would also like to rebody a Tesla. I would put a 69 Charger body on it and call it "General Electric".... Incredible that it is a whole second faster, 0-60.
The Purple Steel can be removed easy with a heat gun and it just pops off. I had a SR almost in this condition and it was defiantly way faster like breaking 4 secs since stock its about 5. I'm working on doing a custom frame for a LR RWD on a Truck conversion and will take it for a test drive as rolling chassis!
13:17 I have to imagine you can adjust your focus settings. There should be miltipoint focus, Center weighted focus, and Depending things like facial focuse ect.
The cars, power and speed is limited by the computer. The motors are capable of a lot more. My model three with all the passengers is just as fast with me driving it alone.

3:14 B pillar camera. Som,e elaboration, that unit at the bottom is not for IR. It does Bluetooth and Near Field Communication (NFC). So likely to detect a key / fob / phone etc and communicate it back to the head end using Bluetooth? Edit, confirmed, it's for Keycard. Car manufacturers 0-60 are still done using 1 foot rollout and not actually from a dead stop. Rollout is cheating. Even Dragstrips should stop using 1 foot rollout. Meaning the timer at the track doesn't start till the front wheels has moved 1 foot and crossed a beam/sensor. 0-60 times and Dragstrip times should be from a dead stop.

My prediction is the same acceleration. I think it’s traction limited. Less weight is less to accelerate but also less grip.

You should be able to adjust the autofocus speed so it doesn’t focus on to your hand so quickly.
