Can you imagine for one second being so miserable and uncomfortable that you go into a seizure. I'm sure that with every movement of every single hair, the pain and desire to scratch would be excruciating! I sure that's why his little thunder shirt helps, it helps hold the hair in place as well as providing comfort. Poor little guy. I think you should name him Huey but Nails is cool too. To bad they waited so long to get help. This poor little guy has been on his own with no one to cuddle and probably little to no human interaction. So sad 😢 he's looking better. Thank you Scotty and Saskia. It broke my heart when he had his seizure😖
since they're so small their nervous system works so fast, usually the pain we feel is more drawn out and chronic, the pain they feel is a lot quicker and sharp and all at once like a bomb going off :(

Oh my heart 💔 when Saskia quickly grabbed him when he went into seizure to comfort and hold him in case he didnt come out of it. Good luck little piggle! You're in good hands!!!
Very sad, on in my opinion no excuse for this. You all are angels for what you do. Thank you for taking the time to film and educate. I've learned so much. Now I've adopted to piggies of my own.
You guys do such great things and you never turn down a Pig even if u think u don't have room that's great... Most places would send him else where but you make room for them. There needs to be more people like u in the world My daughter got her first pig a few months back and her name is Biscuit lol.
My piggie would get seizures too - it was scary. We'd try to comfort him and relax him, but I was terrified of losing him. He had a fungal infection and we've been coming back to the vet for a year or so .It'd get better for a while then worse and when he'd have the seizures we would come back. We'd give him baths, vitamins, antibiotics. Last time he also got some injection tho I don't remember what it was. Finally he's itch-free, happy and healthy. We thoght we'd never cure him. But we made it! So if you're struggling with something similar - don't give up!
I wish my late guinea pigs were this tough. I didn't know what fly strike was. I have autism and clinical depression and I got pets for company. B'lanna and Tribble died about a year apart. Turns out the flies were "scatella stagnalis" shore flies. They're a greenhouse pest. I struggled for years to ID these flies. Turns out they're pesticide resistant. They have relatives living on the shores of Mona Lake in California. If their distant cousins are tough enough to withstand a lake full of arsenic, what chance did my pigs have? I wrapped them up in clean rags with a treat and brought them to a nearby river, laying them under a tree that was later chopped down by a beaver. My vet charges 40$ TO CREMATE A DEAD PET! And that's WITHOUT a necropsy. I've had ringworm before. It's MADDENING. I can imagine what that AND mange feel like. IIIIICKKK! As for his resliancy, I chalk it up to his youth. You know the only two people who have survived symptomatic rabies have been a child and a teenager. Both were put in medically induced comas to try and stall for time until their immune systems could make antibodies. The teenager had to learn how to do everything over again, walk, talk, dress, eat, she was 21 when she finally was recovered enough to learn to drive. I bet it's the neuro plasticity.
This is a year later from when Scotty 1st rescued tough boy Nails with the seizures. Glad now that he has been healed and got adopted by Scotty. On that video, it showed Scotty driving to Bakersfeild and showed the California valley. It is beautiful there. Scotty is a saint for helping with all these cute guinea pigs and Saskisa is too. God bless both of them. I love guinea pigs too. I used to have Cockitiels like Scotty. Parakeets too. My birthday was on Monday May 4th 2020. My mom paid for s new cage, the Midwest for my birthday and I have the rest of supplies and I am getting another Guinea pig or pigs as soon as this Caronavirus slows down.
Awe! So sad, those seizures are so awful to watch...I’ve been through this with one of my boys and it took awhile but fully recovered thanks to you all..your awesome for taking this trip! Ivermectin and Benadryl he’ll be good to go..lots of love piglet
What a brave little fighter! It was heartbreaking to see him in such a horrible state, but it is a miracle that he survived for such a long time. Sadly, many vets don't know anything about small pets. I have rat boys and it almost impossible to find a vet that really knows how to treat rats. One of my guys had mites and the vet didn't want to believe me and gave me the wrong medication. Now I have to drive for over an hour to what's pretty much the only rat specialist here in Berlin. And this is by far the largest city here in Germany, I don't want to imagine how it must be when you're living in a small town.
Oh I rescued one with mange. He had seizures and screamed for at least two months. I work for a vet so I got him all the Care. I took care of him and worked with him and he was terrified to be touched and would hide and would not eat. But now he is healthy and maybe a little overweight. His hair is full and beautiful and he is my little knight in shining armor. I'm so in love with him that I take him to work with me. My dogs and my cat love him and he loves them and he is part of our family and as I am typing this he is laying in his little bed behind the couch taking a nap. I let him out when I'm home. I got videos on my channel of him. I just never knew I could be so in love with a little guinea pig. His name is Piggy Smalls and he snuggles into my neck and gives me kisses for hours ♥️♥️♥️
That poor piggie! I'm literally crying because of how much pain he's in. You just have no idea how sweet you sound when talking about those piggies. Thanks for helping the poor little thing. People think piggies are no fun. They are horribly wrong! Piggies are so much fun! They have feelings and character. You can train your piggies too! My sister and I had several growing up. We were emotionally damaged when we found out people eat these! Nnnooooo!! We had a lot of fun with these sweet animals. I would recommend getting a kid a piggie. Please keep us updated on him.
Bless it's baby heart. Breaks my heart. I got 2 new pigs from Petsmart last Wednesday, because my 4 yr. old guinea pig died. Apparently, one has mange mites and ringworm. He's miserable, and I'm treating him with ivermectin behind the ear, and benadryl. I cried as I put neosporin on his pitiful little back wounds from scratching. Wrapping him with a sock and vet bandage has been awful...he hates it. I haven't had a pig with mange before, so I was treating him for ringworm. I watched your videos, and know what's wrong now. As a precaution, I put ivermectin behind the other pigs' ears, too. Thank you for caring for sweet pigs. You're helping so many who love and care for them.

I adopted a baby pig like this from BUNS in Santa Barbara. She was so bad, she had to have surgery before I could adopt her. She survived and lived happily ever after with us.
One of my piggies did this as well, adopted it from someone who had no idea what they were doing.. I gave him everything he needed to become healthy again and he lived 6 years with me, he was ca 8 when he passed.
Bless its heart. Thank you. I bought a shih tzi once from a breeder and he had mange. After 500. to find out the problem the med was 45. . He was cleared up in 3 days.

awww xx i love you guys xx youve done in 24hrs while the pet store let him suffer for 2wks xx they could have got help from beginning xx but you got him in the end xx absolutely awesome job to yous all xx
that was sooo amazing and good work done what a wee sweetheart there well done from myself and my girlfriend she was crying she loves little guinea pigs she has 4 herself
I looked after a little dog who was like this. Runt of the litter and just total failure to thrive. I made sure that he got medical attention and the treatment that he needed and nursed him back to health. He needed extra care to help his immune system and he never grew as big as his littermates, but he is generally healthy now and loved, now his owner has had some education.
Poor little nails, bless his little heart! He is so worth it, GOD bless you, for picking him up and treating him. Saskia could train some of some vets and show them how its really done!
I wonder if maybe the pet store worker's trying to care for him as best she could, even if it wasn't perfect, was what kept him alive those two months? She was bathing him, so that must have kept down the chance of infection, even if it would have been painful for poor Nails. And even though he wasn't gaining any weight, he was still getting enough energy from his food to fight the illness; so she must have been feeding him well. Maybe the lesson we can take from this is that caring is better than not caring, but it's important to know when to ask for help.
This was such a difficult video to watch but amazing to see Nails only 24 hours later quite obviously having made a big approvement already. Thank you (and LA Guinea Pig Rescue) for all your efforts x
Don't tell me one of your lovable one's are sick I hope and pray that they make it alive and well and recovery goes well enough to come back home to you🕆😔🕆

This video saved my Guinea pig Sophie's life! Did the horse paste treatment. After first treatment shes up in weight from 504g to 842g in less then a week and no more seizures. 2 more doses left. Hoping shes back to 100% for her 3rd birthday on 9/20. Thank you so much!
“Maybe I’ll foster him for a couple weeks….” This video is why I named my first parakeet after you, Scotty.

This happy ending is better than any Christmas special on TV right now for me!! Merry Christmas, Scotty! Merry Christmas, Nails!! OMG. If I was out there, I'd adopt him in a heartbeat. Poor baby!
Good to know about the vets missing it. I've had so many pigs with just exactly those symptoms. Poor babies, I had no clue....
He looks like he's feeling better, but he also looks like he's -so tired- (god, can you imagine?)
Poor baby! Sending healing hugs your way!

He is one strong tough piggy to get through all of these issues!!!
Ok he is soooo adorable I want him
that was sooo amazing and good work done what a wee sweetheart there well done from myself and my girlfriend she was crying she loves little guinea pigs she has 4 herself
If he can be saved I know that you can save him.. You guys are such role models and I love the both of you!!
I wanna give him little kisses that precious baby 😢💔💞
That poor baby, it's so upsetting to see him in pain but I hope that he gets better and has a happy life. Such a sweet pig xx
This poor little baby needs a kind heart like yours. Nails is so sweet! I’m hoping to see more of him, fell in love at first sight.
This makes me want to cry😖
So happy to stumble upon this rescue agency and this video. Thank you!!
My guinea pigs should be grateful rn there fed and well groomed lol but this is sad 😢 poor guy makes my heart crack
So sad to see that someone let it get that bad, so grateful for everything you guys do!
Aw a shame poor little guy hope he feels better soon good job looking after him
