Thank you JILL! The t-shirts you designed are just the the thing I like to wear at my own D&D table. And I very much appreciate Aldor the Immense selling them to us "at the same price I would offer my very own mother" ! Lol.
I have been Dming this campaign for my friends for the past year of college and we made it all the way to this point with them making a few different choices in faction alignment and other bits but mostly the same. The parties bard died on the attack at the cathedral. They were so unlucky as I rolled for the lord of the feasts to awaken and they awoke on the first round with a nat 20. The party wizard barely escaping but failing to dimension door with the bard as they were unconscious and thus "unwilling" A lot of art has been created by the party. But I must say its a sad day in drakkenheim we just lost the happiest and nicest merfolk bard.
Having been a DM, and handed out to my players magic items so easily, Monty's portrayal of Aldor makes me really want to RP the description of offering sweet magic items. Heavily underrated.
I like that theory. It’s becoming a lot more obvious that the goat Demon has a lot to do with the whole meteor thing and this city. Monty has alluded to this demon multiple times and nothing that Monty does is by accident or of no consequence.
I'm so excited, glad to have y'all back, but I hope you had some well deserved time off. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into your videos!!!
What a meticulously constructed terrain! The fountain and the front wall of the cathedral with the gargoyles look amazing! I'm sad that we've lost Virgil and probably Flamekeeper Hannah, but unfortunately we have to sacrifice for victory ... Great return, I'm glad the show continues! Just two comments: 2:32:25 "I can call back the javelin..." Javelin of Lightning does NOT return to your hand (unless Monty use a house-rule for it). 2:38:25 "I grab the horse by the mane and I Thunder Step me and the horse." Thunder Step You can also teleport one willing creature of your size or smaller who is carrying gear up to its carrying capacity. Which means that Sebastian cannot teleport his horse with himself (horse counts as large beast and the warhorse was armored).
Rule of cool for the thunderstep, and the Javelin was a home brew made by Sebastian’s mother. Monty likely has plans to take it out of play once Pluto gets a good enough one handed just so he can do magic damage. But all completely valid points.
I just found them and I can’t turn it off. I am amazed with this whole story and project. I literally having it running 24/7 😂 Kinda wish I found them earlier
Or will they be sizzlin? XD I still think they should have hatched them and trained them to patrol around the clock tower and shoot enemies like some sort of feathery fighter planes.
"Could we show the people the Queen?" Queens takes her mask off... all problems solved. Sebastian buys a potion of Poison Resistance; are we going to see a Princess Bride style drinking contest with the Queen of Thieves in the future? Veo, "I'd pay to see that." Sebastian, "You don't have to. We're going to watch it for free." "Temple Bars" :D
Kelly I’m not sure wether or not it fits Sebastian’s character or not but I think the sickening radiance spell from zanathars might fit thematically as Sebastian harnessing the power of the delerium mist and charging it
It was in heavy consideration over Fireball but as much as I love it, I find it harder to land an epic sickening radiance over a fireball. It’s still in consideration.
This would be a nice time to have a scroll of greater beast harvest.( large beasts are harvested thoroughly pelt and usable bone are separated from alchemy agents and food all labeled vaguely).
Just catching up. What a great campaign so far. Looking forward to where things go from here. Had to comment on the nice little discworld nugget from Monty. Nice use of sapient pear wood.
I hear the screams echoing tonight But Veo hears only whirling of some confused constructs She's aiming arrow's flight The moonlit bolt reflect the gore that guide me towards redemption I stopped a rat prince along the way Hoping to find some old forgotten sewers or ancient passages He turned to me as if to say, "yes yes yes, it's waiting there for you" It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you There's nothing that a hundred Caspians could ever do I bless the rains down in Drakkenheim Gonna take some time to kill the things that infest our days (ooh, ooh) The wild gnolls cry out in the night As they grow restless, longing for cannibalistic dismemberment I know that we must do what's right As sure as Castle Drakken rises like the towers above the impact crater I seek…
Sebastian should not be able to Thunderstep with a Large creature like a horse, or a giant ape as he did in a previous episode. It's only a creature of his own size of smaller. Also, he's been taking pains to touch creatures he wants to take with him. He doesn't need to touch them. They only have to be within 5 feet.
I love Monty's voices. I was listening to the earlier episodes before I really knew what was going on. A little while ago, I bought the campaign book so I have a lot more context for what's going on. I saw Aldor the Immense in Emberwood Village in the book without any memory of the group's first encounter with him. Then, in this episode, I heard Monty bust out his voice and suddenly remembered Veo and the candied salmon. :D Great job on all the voices! Gives me something to strive for as a DM.
After listening to the plan at ~1:25:13 I'd lay odds the brilliant scheme will be foiled by the cat accidentialy one-shot killing the Lord of the Feast just as he comes out of the cathedral.
When Sebastian fell off his horse I was like "Thunderstep time!" But when Flamekeeper Hanna fell as well I was like "Omg Sebastian grab her and thunderstep back to her horse." When he didn't I was actually sad.
Yeetus completus, rest in deletus, Virgil and Hannah. I was half afraid there for a moment because I confused her with Ophelia the big priest lady - still a shame to lose a nascent NPC, and the first paladin and a total bro they met originally, but at least it's not a key character (or so I think...). And now the party can have more feeling in their fight against the big mid-campaign boss, get him minced for Virgil. Nice move with the enemy leaders being able to do "class spells" so to speak - didn't expect anything less from Monty, but still worth a note. Makes them that much more threatening and competent and powerful. I really hope next session really will work out with a battle between the big boi and the square killer robot. It's just a great way to dispose of one or both. Would award the players exp/milestone grades for successfully pulling the plan off, should it really go successfully. Good to see Veo getting more and more killy and making people instantly discounting rangers look foolish. Also good to see that every single player managed to pitch in successfully and show they're getting stronk - Sebastian, Pluto, both showing off nice power themselves, bringing up the AoE side even in Pluto's case and able to shrug off damage in the same. And, of course, just generally good to see the campaign continue. In the end, such a game is more fun than vacationing indeed.
Honestly Veo built as a fighter would do more damage, it’s less that ranger is bad and more that the other classes are more focused and can use their abilities together. I will say that I like veo as a ranger though for character reasons
@@tennesseeponderer3146 And some utility that the ranger class brings helps the party out in these soft-megadungeon conditions that the city has (such as Pass Without Trace) more than a fighter's would.
57:00 sounds familiar here in 2021. 58:40 what if the cult jams a rock in her chest? 2:15:20 Spine Splinter. i love how they didn't try to gather any supplies for the lanterns. Lord Commander: "we're running out of arrows." Veo: "sounds like a YOU problem."
Drakkenheim returns!!! Yes!! If you guys see this I’d like you to know I’m a huge fan of what you do here. I’m currently getting ready to run my own city campaign and your map design was a huge inspiration for my own. I’m curious, what mapping software did you use to create Drakkenheim? I found something that lets me make my map have a similar style but I’m wondering what you actually used.
What the heck TH-cam! I've been waiting all day long for this episode but it did not notify me or show up on my subscribed feed. I'm glad I checked the playlist.
I wonder how many times after Pluto mentions that he lost his horse that someone asks if it's the dead horse that everyone kicks when they enter the town. This has to be at least the third or fourth time. 😂
Absolutely loving this amazing story with amazing people! Am I the only one thinking of Sebastian Polymorphing into a Griffin to get the gang in and out of the city?
God love him Pluto is wonderful! And wonderfully bad at persuasion! I’m curious why Sebastian doesn’t chime in and “help” him with stuff like that? That preacher taking away the tavern owners rankled me more than it should have : )
Is it possible to up the volume of the recording level you use? There are times wehen (especially Vejo) speaks so soft, I have no idea what's being said. I'm running my sound system at top volume with over amplification, and there are still moments where all I can hear is "mumble, mumble."
the problem seem to be the mikes, they are just picking up clear if they speak in it directly at the pickup end, that´s positive in a way of picking up less or no noisedirt from the surrounding, but the moment they move away enough or just a bit to the side the voices are picked up less, what´s a problem especially with monty when hes still describing while setting up the terrain.
grave2501 yeah I think heir mics are highly directional. Maybe they should consider new ones that are more tolerant of off-axis sound? A sponsorship opportunity if any of y’all are in the sound biz, perhaps?
While I agree that the mikes can be a concern, the audio levels on this series are lower than most other audio sources, as far as I can tell. I always need to increase my system volume by quite a bit in order to watch these videos, and when I'm done I need to revert the settings back to their original levels, or I get blasted by the louder sound levels by my other applications.
I've started to listen to this show on my headphones, and I have a lot more luck hearing what is going on. It is well worth the discomfort of wearing the headphones to follow along with the fun.
58:30 *face palms* Oh dear god, did they forget that they didn't say they were going to have a huddle? They just spoke about the queen being alive in front of the Crow family. Tobias and Moira might keep quiet, but the children? Word's going to spread fast. I hope they're prepared for any sort of fallout as a result of that.
Hm... the skull of a silver dragon named Argonyth is needed to relight a beacon... Methinks I sense a Curse of Strahd inspiration from Argynvost and his order of knights! (My favorite of the published 5e campaigns!)
Looking at the map, it doesn't seem like he was in range to grab her and get back out of the Lord of the Feast's range. Sebastian though... Could have moved closer and used Thunderstep to get them to relative safety, at least long enough to hand her off to one of the others and get himself on a horse.
I am so glad Monty finally tried to catch them talking in character about something while in the middle of a conversation with an NPC. They regularly talk about something that is supposed to be secret in front of NPC's or without checking they are in a secure place to talk, or completely forgetting that the NPC is there and that they can't have a separate conversation among themselves while in front of someone. It's a wonder anyone they ever have dealings with is still alive the way they blab things. It would have been great if Monty had really pursued what they discussed and they failed a deception roll and put Sebastian in a poistion of obviously lying to his dad or leaking the queen is back and that when that meeting of the Hooded Lanterns, Silver Order, and Amethyst Academy takes place in Emberwood soon, it turns out everyone is talking about how the queen is back and at the Hooded Lanterns' keep. Oh won't that be fun to explain how that leaked especially if several townspeople say they heard it from the Crowes.
that point at 1:36 where i thought they were picking people that they didn't like to use as meatshields, and nope. Drakkenforce just thought they were some of the more powerful NPC's...

yes yes yes great campagn yes!!
Flamekeeper: The Lord of the Feast has been blessed by a dark power!
Sebastian: Well so have I!
Flamekeeper:What?
Sebastian: What?
Monster of the Week was a lot of fun, the Q and As, too, and the regular instructionals always rock, but nothing beats getting back to the Drak!!!
So, so late to this party, but this was INSANELY good combat, RP worldbuilding; comedy - everything one could wish to see. Great, great work DDs!
Another great t-shirt for your line: "Look Dad, I'm not dead!"
You missed the yet
I want this shirt
I agree.
"Look Ma'! No heands!"
"Look Pa'! Not dead!"
Perfectly balanced as all things should be
Veo and the Jackson Crows. That gloomstalker rogue is just ridiculous damage.
I like how every time Pluto mentions he had a horse but it died Veo asks him if its the dead horse that they kicked
Gotta go watch Pluto Jackson’s monster hunt.
The horse makes an excellent appearance.
Thank you JILL!
The t-shirts you designed are just the the thing I like to wear at my own D&D table. And I very much appreciate Aldor the Immense selling them to us "at the same price I would offer my very own mother" ! Lol.
Monty saying in a whiny voice "Damn it, I wanted the stinger to hit." Absolutely slayed me😂😂😂
Damnit. I want the stinger to hit.
Monty broke character??
Very cool battle guys!
WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT????????????????
I have been Dming this campaign for my friends for the past year of college and we made it all the way to this point with them making a few different choices in faction alignment and other bits but mostly the same.
The parties bard died on the attack at the cathedral. They were so unlucky as I rolled for the lord of the feasts to awaken and they awoke on the first round with a nat 20. The party wizard barely escaping but failing to dimension door with the bard as they were unconscious and thus "unwilling"
A lot of art has been created by the party. But I must say its a sad day in drakkenheim we just lost the happiest and nicest merfolk bard.
Having been a DM, and handed out to my players magic items so easily, Monty's portrayal of Aldor makes me really want to RP the description of offering sweet magic items. Heavily underrated.
Yay, you're back! I missed you guys.
I love how alive and dynamic Drakkenheim is, there are so many parties!
Also my favorite part. It really feels like the city is alive and moving around them
I was really impressed that Monty brushed up on his cathedral architectural terminology!
Any gnoll that survives in Drankkenheim is bound to have a fear of cats after these run ins with Veo
A sapient pearwood bow? For some reason it feels menacing, can't tell if it's the hundreds of little legs or the way it stares at you without eyes
Losing Virgil really hurts! 😢
Theory: the cultists are gaining followers and will use the delirium in their chests to harvest their souls for the goat demon
I like that theory. It’s becoming a lot more obvious that the goat Demon has a lot to do with the whole meteor thing and this city. Monty has alluded to this demon multiple times and nothing that Monty does is by accident or of no consequence.
I think the demon is monty desperately trying to get someone eldritch blast :) :) :)
The family talk over dinner is amazingly good. Thanks for that laugh.
That's my favourite hobby background ambient. Only until I'm not painting anymore just jaw dropped eyes glued to the screen !
Just two comments:
2:32:25
"I can call back the javelin..."
Javelin of Lightning does NOT return to your hand (unless Monty use a house-rule for it).
2:38:25
"I grab the horse by the mane and I Thunder Step me and the horse."
Thunder Step
You can also teleport one willing creature of your size or smaller who is carrying gear up to its carrying capacity.
Which means that Sebastian cannot teleport his horse with himself (horse counts as large beast and the warhorse was armored).
Presumably the armor would be within the horses carrying capacity, though the point stands nonetheless
Rule of cool for the thunderstep, and the Javelin was a home brew made by Sebastian’s mother. Monty likely has plans to take it out of play once Pluto gets a good enough one handed just so he can do magic damage. But all completely valid points.
Sapient pearwood huh? That timber sounds like it comes with a lot of luggage... if you know what i mean?
Talking bow, huh? :D
I’m so glad you’re back. I hope your break was everything you needed it to be.
Found you guys about 2 weeks ago looking to possibly get back into D&D after 20 years. Watching 30+ episodes in 2 weeks is healthy right?
83 ish hours out of 336 seems totally healthy!
Better than shoving a gem of delirium in your chest
I just found them and I can’t turn it off. I am amazed with this whole story and project.
I literally having it running 24/7 😂
Kinda wish I found them earlier
It's more than healthy, it's inspiring(I'm a fantasy writer and dm) and it helps with my exams stress
Part timer hey? 😅
Next time in Emberwood will the harpy eggs have hatched?
Crowe tragic backstory intensifies
Or will they be sizzlin? XD
I still think they should have hatched them and trained them to patrol around the clock tower and shoot enemies like some sort of feathery fighter planes.
Itz hard to train a harpy 🤷♂️
@@theorycrafters7281 Is that a Witcher 3 reference?
Currently watching this series again for the third time, as I've backed the launch and am SOOO excited to get my hands on
DUNGEONS OF DRAKKENHEIM!!!
For being such an useful spell, Bless is so easy to forget.
"Could we show the people the Queen?"
Queens takes her mask off... all problems solved.
Sebastian buys a potion of Poison Resistance; are we going to see a Princess Bride style drinking contest with the Queen of Thieves in the future?
Veo, "I'd pay to see that."
Sebastian, "You don't have to. We're going to watch it for free."
"Temple Bars" :D
This episode was so good! I was on the edge when Sebastian got kicked off the horse.
"I hope my strong makes up for my fast... my slow."
I love Pluto.
Veo's bow should definitely be called The Gnollifier...
love the content just found this and binged all of it
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed!
It is great to be back in Drakkenheim.😊
Kelly I’m not sure wether or not it fits Sebastian’s character or not but I think the sickening radiance spell from zanathars might fit thematically as Sebastian harnessing the power of the delerium mist and charging it
It was in heavy consideration over Fireball but as much as I love it, I find it harder to land an epic sickening radiance over a fireball. It’s still in consideration.
I’m also pretty sure it’s what Monty used for the queens vision.
It's just now dawning on me that Jill went from a big damage dealer in Veo to a big damage dealer in Rudi. Jill is scary.
The amethyst academy made a delerium that draws magic in. Could they make something that draws the corruption from the queen?
I was over here like, what if silver order destroys the delerium inside the queen
I Bless The Rains Down In Drakkenheim! The Drakkendrought is over!
Gonna take some time to kill some gnolls we've never had
I hear the screams echoing tonight
But Veo hears only whirling of some confused constructs
She's aiming arrow's flight
The moonlit bolt reflect the gore that guide me towards redemption
I stopped a rat prince along the way
Hoping to find some old forgotten sewers or ancient passages
He turned to me as if to say, "yes yes yes, it's waiting there for you"
It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred Caspians could ever do
I bless the rains down in Drakkenheim
Gonna take some time to kill the things that infest our days (ooh, ooh)
The wild gnolls cry out in the night
As they grow restless, longing for cannibalistic dismemberment
I know that we must do what's right
As sure as Castle Drakken rises like the towers above the impact crater
I seek…
I dig it. I hear Toto is performing near emberwood village next month.
sometimes I wish I could timestamp the like button. e.g. the moment when the Lord of the Feast yells at Pluto in Infernal and Pluto yells back!
The Lord of the Feast "Oh wait you can talk to me? Well, DON'T CARE!"
7:39 "[...] 'cause I wrote down mix green AND blue."
LOL! Kelly is the best!
Sebastian should not be able to Thunderstep with a Large creature like a horse, or a giant ape as he did in a previous episode. It's only a creature of his own size of smaller. Also, he's been taking pains to touch
creatures he wants to take with him. He doesn't need to touch them. They only have to be within 5 feet.
Remember, DM's can change rules
Drakkenheim!!!
So glad ya’ll are back!
Starting to think that the lord of the feast is the former high priest of Drakkenheim who has key thing they are looking for.
I missed this. Drakkenforce!
Hopefully, the attack on titan vibes are on purpose because I appreciate them.
My favorite d&d show, keep up the great work! As a side note, I would love it if you guys made these available via podcast somewhere

Bro, that fight encounter by the end just left me at the edge of my feet Wondering what was going to happen next.
After listening to the plan at ~1:25:13 I'd lay odds the brilliant scheme will be foiled by the cat accidentialy one-shot killing the Lord of the Feast just as he comes out of the cathedral.
When Sebastian fell off his horse I was like "Thunderstep time!" But when Flamekeeper Hanna fell as well I was like "Omg Sebastian grab her and thunderstep back to her horse."

You might say that this episode was an Attack on a Titan.... Loved the flares idea
Man i love this show so much! I even watch it instead of Netflix nowadays

The wound closure auto save for death saves is good. It also double hp when you use Roll hit dice.
Sebastion, Veo, and Pluto at seb's old house, "So we have the queen of drakkenheim, and she's corrupted by delerium. SO, THIS FOOD IS AMAZING!"

After the preacher knocked the stone out of my hand my only response would of been "Roll for initiative".
Can't believe Pluto didn't pick up Hannah before riding off!

I can't believe it! We're back at it!

"Shuba" in Russian means a fur coat. What makes the name of the gnoll deity very fitting.
