Müslüm Father is an amazing singer for us. He died e few years ago. He always sing sad songs that we call “arabesk”. We always listen him when we are on alcohol table and also when we are sad about something..

Müslüm Gürses or by his birth name Müslüm Akbaş (7 May 1953; Fıstıközü, Halfeti, Şanlıurfa - 3 March 2013, Istanbul) is a Turkish arabesque and folk music artist. He is known as "Father of Arabesque" worldwide, "Arabeskin Babası" and "Müslüm Baba" in Turkey.
Her mother, Emine Hanım, and her father, Mehmet, met in a village in the district of Halfeti in Şanlıurfa, which was previously known as Tisa but changed to Fıstıközü in the 1960s. When they got married in 1951, they were only 17 years old, living in poverty. He was born on May 7, 1953 as the first child of Emine Hanım and Mehmet Bey in a mud-brick house in Fıstıközü village of Halfeti district of Şanlıurfa.
His father, Mehmet Akbaş, is a farm worker. When Müslüm came to the world, the financial difficulties started to become even more troublesome and soon after, the Akbaş family had another child named Ahmet during this troubled period. When it became very difficult for them to live in this village, Emine Hanım talked to her relatives and said that they should move to live a better life, and the Akbaş family had to migrate due to economic reasons.
They had arrived in Adana Hürriyet Mahallesi with great hopes. Here their hopes would turn into indescribable pain. Poverty was still the same poverty. It was not difficult for them to get used to this neighborhood. Father Mehmet Akbaş has already gotten used to it and soon his nickname was Deli Mehmet. Emine Hanım started to work, and Müslüm had to take care of his brother Ahmet while he was absent. At that age, Müslüm's behavior was like a mature man, he never had a child. Even when he started school, he was never able to play with his peers and sat on the sidelines and watched those who were playing. When he left school, he immediately ran home and helped his mother. During this period, another sister was born and the responsibility of Müslüm started to increase even more. Müslüm had to learn life early here and his elbow was not rotted at the school desk but at the tailor's loom at the shoemaker. Since 1967, he sang live folk songs every week on Saturday on TRT-Adana-Çukurova Radio. From 1968 on, the first 45s began to be released on the market. The first plaque is Emmioğlu / Ovada Taşa Basma, dated 1968, and it is an Adana edition of Ömür Plak. He made a total of 4 pieces of 45 with Ömür Plak. Gürses made 13 records with Palandöken Plak, then 4 with Bestefon Plak, then 15 with Hülya Plak and finally 2 with 45 records with Çınçın Plak.
He is Müslüm Baba, his fans were cutting their wrists with blades during his live concerts.. Because of the soul he added to lyrics.
I never ever thought that Americans would listen to Müslüm and actually loving it. Wow.
Muslum Gurses has the most painful and soulful voice i've ever seen. His father killed his mother and sister when he was a kid and his life passed in pain. For this reasons he couldn't give up drinking. His songs must have come from his heart i'm sure. He passed away when he was 59. His fans called him BABA (FATHER) and also hurts themselves with razor or sth similer items while listening him. So listening too much this painful song can be harmful :).
violin is a fretless instrument which is mean you can catch the Turkish melody
He was literally the Godfather of the Weed :) Seriously, even in 80's (Most serious and district time of Turkey) he had a special prescription to buy and smoke weed :) He had a very very strong fans like a tribe, cult etc. Almost all using weed, green or red prescription and similar pills etc :) His concerts was crazy, everybody stoned, flying or sometimes even too aggressive.
Until early 2000's he did not really loved by the majority of the Turkish community because it was too arabesque, those crazy fans tribes was a reason too Early 2000's, he started adjusting his music a little bit, started getting covers from the rock, soft rock, pop music etc. and everybody became fan of him. Songs started coming out extremely interesting after that.
Lets say, He really became the true Turkish Frank Sinatra in modern days.
Sadly, he is dead few years ago...

Its not a different instrument its violin and u can also create the same sound. İn Turkish music (and some other middle eastern countries) there is a thing called "makam" which is similar like a blues scale but the difference between makam and blues scale western music is limited by half tones but we use microtones for example in bağlama there is 3 tones (numbers may show changes between certain notes) in between E and D such as E, Eb and Eb2 but in guitar there isnt its only E and Eb notes exist in between E and D . And in all the fretless instruments have those microtones and our ears developed for centruies to notice those microtones and simply like them thats why the sound feels a bit strange to you .. love from Turkey
