How did Jordan take over the West bank? An agreement? Military incursion? A war in its own right? If the latter now can anyone say Israelis can't settle there when in the 6 day war Jordan attacked and lost this land, that it gained by attacking israel? Spoils of war as far as I'm concerned.
Covering the zones may have helped this video.

Im not sure if you are rhetoric, or if you arent clear over the history. Anyway, I shall try. 1948 WestBank aGaza was supposed to be part of the new Arab country... Arab countries around the freshly made Israel invaded; Israel managed to win and drove them back. But Israel didnt bothered to conquer WestBand and Gaza from the beaten enemy - they tried to respect the UN two country solution. so these areas become occupied by Jordan and Egypt. Israel won these areas in the war of 67 where arabs tried to attack but failed... so, with the right of the conqueror Israel could take the areas, but held them as occupied, hoping for a peace treaty, having these areas as a powerful "hostage". But the arabs refused any peace talks; not arab countries, nor Palestinian representative... 73 arabs attacked, but were driven back. It began to calm down a little after 75, when Egypt accepted a peace treaty, and got back Sinai (lost 73?)... Time went on unsuccesfull peace talk, including these by Trump and his son in law. Around 2000 the peace talks gave at last fruits; the idea of two country solution become anew a reality; palestinians would get WestBank and Gaza... Israel even evacuated all Jews from Gaza, so the area would be 100% palestinians... But here is also the trouble: as Palestinians got the promise to have WestBank, aside of some small exceptions, they get sour for any settler movement. Or even, if Israeli police patrols there, for example to arrest known terrorists, make hinder for rocket and artillery shelling - or simply, try to hold peace. So WestBank become a sort of mixed zone even if its essentially a palestian country, and of course, difficulties and problems arise. Ps. so the only war Israel isnt innocent part of, is the war of 56... True, Israel was hard pressed by Fedayeen guerilla coming from Gaza and Egypt; so nothing peculiar they tried to solve the problem when occasion arised, and joined Brits and French when they attacked Egypt for nationalizing the Suez channel. So to be honest, as state it was Israel here the aggressor on Egypt... Even if Egypt played very foul, this was anyway a / the dark spot on Israels reputation.

Israel never annexed the West Bank because she didn't have to. After taking control of Judea and Samaria after the 1948 war, Jordan never annexed it to Jordan. Thus, when Israel took it back after the 1967 war, there was nothing to annex. However, because of the political climate then and now, the West Bank was left to take care of itself (if Israel had annexed Gaza and the WB, it would no longer have been a majority Jewish state). Nevertheless, the region belongs to Israel.
Moreover, to those who insist that all Israelis leave the WB, why is it that the only people on the planet against whom ethnic cleansing is acceptable are Jews. Nobody insists that any other group leave any other region on the entire planet.

    • @KathyPrendergast-cu5ci

In 1967 Israel could have both annexed Gaza and the West Bank/East Jerusalem AND expelled most or all the Arabs who lived there, forcing them to re-locate to Egypt and Jordan. That would have been no different from what Jordan did with all the Jews in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in 1948. Tit for tat. I don't know why they didn't; presumably it was just a combination of pragmatism (not wanting to provoke further conflicts with their hostile neighbours) and morality.
They been paying for that "good deed" ever since.

@@oreytan8160 I stand corrected in that I oversimplified. Jordan "annexed" the West Bank and East Jerusalem in that it took control over the area, but Jordan never declared the area to be part of its country or that all of the people there became Jordanian citizens (because they didn't). So, when Israel took the area back in '67, it was not a situation of conquering another country and annexing some of that country's land because the WB was not part of the country of Jordan. This is one of the reasons why the suggestion that Israel return to the '67 "borders" is dumb because there were no borders and the land never belonged to Jordan. Israel, the only country in the world that keeps getting attacked and is expected to give up land for peace (a peace that we all know will never stick because, well, Arabs).

    • @gmh471
      @gmh471 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@KathyPrendergast-cu5ci They didn't because if they annex those areas, Israel is no longer a majority Jewish country. The Arab majority would ultimately take control and that would be the end of that. 50 Islamic countries (22 of them Arab), god knows how many Christian countries on the planet and the Jews apparently are not allowed to have one on a tiny piece of mostly arid land surrounded by 500 million Arabs.

That's how it always is. I don't even take one of these completely uneducated protesters in the U.S. seriously. One common denominator is they were not born or old enough to remember 9/11, but they also are first or second year students without the capability to think critically. If you try to bring up especially the second intifada and the disgusting brutality and attacks solely directed at not only civilians, but women and children. They ofter sent suicide bombers to places during noon or lunch time when mothers and their children would be at the market or eating lunch like the 2001 Sbarro Pizza suicide bombing. If you can not show some 'rebel without a cause' person going to a 60k tuition institution that their is zero justification for over 160 suicide bombing just since 2000 it's a waste of time bothering them. They also are of the smart phone generation and most barely read books by accredited authors. I really like this guy Yehuda. I saw him in another video that was phenomenal. I always notice that there are so many missing pieces when people discuss this topic.

By default and according to customary international law, when Israel declared independence, Judea and Samaria were included within the boundaries of Israel. i.e. They didn't have to annex the West Bank. It was already theirs.
Arabs living there in effect became Israeli citizens, which some accepted and are to this day. So one question might be, 'Are Israeli arabs living in the West bank living on their own land?' 'Are arab Israeli's living in the West Bank, Israeli settlers?' IMO, by definition a 'Palestinian' is an arab living in the land who rejects Israeli sovereignty over the land. As opposed to an Israeli arab who accepts it.

Since, by demand of Jordan, the Green Line was not to be considered a border, though OCCUPIED BY JORDAN from 1949 to 1967, the "west bank"/Judea-Samaria was and still is within the original Borders of Israel and as such cannot be "occupied" by itself.
That is why there is no need to "annex" your own land after being repossessed.
So the accurate reply to calls to "End the occupation" is "The occupation ended in 1967"
The first step is to use accurate terminology. They are not "settlers" they are residents of communities, not settlements in Israel, not any sort of "occupied territory"

I love the way this guy Yehuda speaks and gives his point of view. I've seen him before it one of my favorite videos from The Travelling Clatt. It's a dream for me to live in an area that he lives in. This new, young generation of Pro Pal protesters are a nuisance because they are rebels without a cause
.....until one comes up and they jump on the band wagon. I have zero tolerance for them because i know they have not done their due dilligence at all. This is a camaraderie thing for them and their was even an op ed in the NYT about them reminiscing about eliminating in a bucket with a small bag and transferring it into another bag. It's pathetic that they are part of this journalism and this is what they speak of. They are surrounded by sort-of arab/muslim/palestinians and most of them know nothing but life in a first world country. It's no mystery that the snowflakes can be "red pilled" so easily on a topic that is so complex and nuanced and part of the narrative comes from people in this world who have proven they are incapable of thinking critically or outside the box. The evidence from the Ottomans is overwhelming. I read my first book on this subject given to me by a guy would said he was from Jerusalem. A young guy who had cut out a picture of Bin Laden before 9/11. I read his book and of course it was one sided, but it made me interested to take a closer look. I too was briefly fooled by hearing a non binary side of a conflict; thankful I'm capable of doing research with out a smart phone or even laptop as theh were not very common at the time. Sadly these protesters have even less information about what they were marching for, but it was fun for them, all the secret meetings and surprise protests were enticing and exciting to these kids who mostly still live with their parents.

The reason is that it just thoroughly proved how foreign you are to this conflict (jew or not) and how little you understand about the actual day to day life of settlers. Alongside the violence there ie coexistence. Settlers put road signs and shop signs in Arabic because in practice, the local arabs mostly come to the settlements not to kill, but to buy, and vice versa. Many settlers would tell you theyre working with arabs. And here you have a man who genuinely understands the issue as hes worked on it for his entire life and hes telling you what is essentially an axiom in israel, and you just scoff.

what i was dissapointed not to see in your video was the reality in the west bank. of course, we currently have a time of high tensions and extremism, but that wouldnt be fair to just ignore the surprising coexistence jews and arabs can have in occupied territories. its clear that when the (palestinian) authorities intensify their brainwashing terrorism happens, but j&s isnt a constant warzone.

Although the anti-Israel crowd loves to say the "settlements" are illegal, they are not. Why? Because the West Bank is not a nation-state and it is not part of Jordan or any other country. So, when Jews decide to move to and build in the West Bank, whose laws are being broken? And as I said in another post, although it was part of the new state of Israel in 1948 and then Jordan took control as a result of that war, Jordan never annexed it. So when Jordan lost the war in '67, the land was taken back by Israel. So, although not part of Israel, it's Israeli land.

    • @KathyPrendergast-cu5ci
      @KathyPrendergast-cu5ci หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Talmud is a collection of Jewish writings, not Jewish law. There is a wide diversity of opinions in it., and also a wide diversity of opinions as to its meaning.
Eg., does the command not to "make war" also include self-defence against attack? Is it permissible to "set up a state" if it's necessary for self-defence? i.e., defending the right of Jews to live in the land?
Keep in mind there is no branch of Judaism that says Jews should not live in Eretz Israel. Many of the most extreme religious Jews who are the most opposed to the existence of Israel as a state, actually live in Israel, (ironically) reaping all the benefits - protection by the IDF, infrastructure, social services - of its being a state, while refusing to recognize its legitimacy or serve in its military; all that may be changing in future though.

    • @arielaw4

I think it is highly questionable to frame it as non violent to go onto somebody elses Land and trying to drive them out either with military help or with weapons yourself, while racial segregation is instituted within the infrastructure, the access to streets, services and so forth. Or when your land gets sold without you even having a say in it.
Yes under these circumstances me entering your land with my herd of sheep in order to claim it as mine, because my government let's me do it/Lobby groups finance me to do it/my military supports me doing it/We have money and weapons and you don't, can count as an act of violence. (Regardless of your magic book saying that your claim to the land is much better than in the other persons magic book)
Also they are, as it is trend these days, mixing up all palestinians with terrorists.
Why is one group that uses weapons to murder people while trying to lay claim to a piece of land framed as vigilanties who try to gain security because their military is not brutal enough, while people in the other group that do exactly the same, just with fewer weapons, less money, no government support and no legal body hepling them out straight up dismissed as terrorism.
You know that armed resistance against an occupying force is actually protected under international law, while violence against occupied peoples is not. (That doesn't give you the right to do crimes against humanity though.) But since he was kind of trying to frame the UN and international aid organisations as unjust and (I guess) antisemetic, I suppose international law doesn't concern him much.
Funniest thing is the footage he shows with the sheep is from a report that literally shows the painful process of people slowly being driven away from their homes, without being able to do anything about it but still desperately holding on to hope. It's quite heartbreaking actually.
Here is a loose list of things that count as violence. Since it appears you have a narrow and incorrect understanding of the term.
    Physical Violence
    spiritual violence
    cultural violence
    emotional violence
    verbal abuse
    financial abuse
    psychological violence
    neglect
    sexual violence
Edit: Also it is not disputed that these settlements are illegal. All relevant international organisations unanimously condemn them as well as the occupation as a whole.

The British Land Survey of 1945 showed the Palestinian farmers only owned 3.3% of the land.* The absentee Arab land holders (living in Damascus, Cairo, Beirut and other cities) owned 16.5% of the land. The Jews owned 8.6% of the land and 70% of the land was State land transferred from the Ottomans, to the British and then to Israel. *Israel was created by almost 80% of non-Arab owned lands.* These are Bare Facts!!
