And her opponent had many opportunities and did not reciprocate. There is a danger of too much applause, even too much respect. She needs to retain some arrogance out there.
I won't criticize, but I don't see the point of applauding a shot by the opponent. You are in a battle, both physical and mental, and giving the opponent confidence and making them feel good is not one of the things I want to do DURING the match. After the match is another story. If the opponent played well, by all means give them compliments and praise.

When Naomi returned in January, she had major problems with her footwork and it seemed like it would take time for her to get back to playing like she used to, but she has improved with each match.
It's clear from the changes in her body that she's been training hard.

Rubbish! in your dreams, she has only achieved anything on hard courts. Her all round game on all surfaces is way behind Swiatek, Sabalenka and quite a few others
She will never be a threat on clay, she's pretty much said so. She doesn't have the movement necessary for grass. She should have been the dominant hard court player for the past 4-5 years but something went off.
With every win I'm soooo happy for naomi...

@@bqnanaaa4838 idk about that, Svitolina has only lost against strong players lately and she's out swinging: Navarro (R3, IW), Swiatek (R4, Dubai), Gauff (Final, Ackland). I love Naomi but I see nothing but trouble here.
Naomi trending upwards nicely but Svitolina too consistent and good/fast on defence for Naomi at the moment.

When Giorgi is in the groove, the 5ft 6in pocket rocket can strike the ball just as well.
Great playing by Osaka! She is very good at it, but she has only one style: Hard topspin groundstokes from the baseline. I didn't see her go to the net, hit slice, or hit a dropshot even once in these highlights. Maybe she did and it wasn't shown here?

She was born in Japan. But because her father is a black man from Haiti, she was given a surname after the city where she was born. The name of the city is pronounced 'Osaka by the Japanese. The rest is influenced by the English-speaking environment where she grew up.
