Awesome video! Ween’s been one of my favorite bands for a while, and I love hearing other people’s take on them! I’d probably put The Pod as my favorite, followed by C&C and GWS: The Oneness. I’m more a fan of the strange, lo-fi tape stuff for some reason. However, that’s just my opinion. I love their takes on genres and artists, (particularly on the Shinola album, which features a sublime track which riffs on another one of my favorites, Pink Floyd.) and their sense of humor is always fun, despite their more...problematic tracks.
I’d argue that Shinola vol 1 is a studio a album, yes it’s b-sides but they were all re-recorded for the album and not the original recordings. I have this debate a lot but in my book it’s a studio album
Same here; it's my number three. A lot of my favorite Ween tracks are on that album and it's a shame some people don't consider it a part of the "canonical" Ween discography.
just in response to the introduction, i gotta say that i’m bisexual and a massive feminist and despite it all, ween is my all time favorite band. they’re just too talented to not love.
@@Throwawayjim119 Mister Richard Smoker is a song that kinda makes fun of a flamboyant gay man and then there's a few times on their earlier albums where they would say the f word, though not really in a homophobic way but more in a slang way. Other than that, I can't think of anything else homophobic and they actually have a few songs that are very positive to being gay like The Rainbow, Boys Club and Slow Down Boy.
i dont think any of ween's music is meant to be a spoof or a mockery of anything. there's humor to it but if you watch their interviews and stuff they take it very seriously and are trying to make good songs.
SEE!? THIS GUY GETS IT, OH MY BOOGNISH, FINALLY. Ween are just as serious as any other artist, just because they use humor doesn't mean they aren't being serious
agreed with a lot of what you said for this review! we’ll always have our fav ween albums/songs, and might disagree on that, but at least we can all agree that this weird unique band are just brilliant❤️
Great video! My favs are the pod, god Ween Satan, pure guava, 12 golden country greats and the mollusk. Other than those I just like some songs here and there off of their other albums.
Quebec and White Pepper are my two favorite. The Mollusk was my first Ween album and I love it but the more I listened to their other work the more I fell in love with this band. Easily in my top 3.
I need problematic aspect. 12 solid gold you must own if you live in Texas. Check out covers done by band "THE DOODLIN HOGWALOPS" Gukaracha is an epoch of old ideas for the boys. I bought white pepper on vinyl for my daughter. It's them as The Beatles! Pure Guava I got into in 2nd grade while playing GI Joe's at a friend's house while sister watched MTV. Push'n little daisy's. The POD is the album I needed most for my recovery from I a 3 week coma occurring in 2007. Quebec [specifically the song The Argus] got me out of the Coma. God Ween Satan is funny in the kids play room. Lmlyp - they are sure is about a cat. The Mollusk ... I want to write the staged musical adaptation. I started to dream the exact story line on my way to a PIXIES show. Holy shit. SPINAL MENINGITIS was played at my frat house on vinyl the night I moved in and then the next day at the Mouse breeding factory I worked at. And then I became a Ween addict. "Though love has its place in the Sun, It's only man's fears that carries him on." - WEEN
Jesus, no wonder people hate ween fans, even ween! I love you telling me the point they were trying to get across in each album, and what I should take away from listening. And how much I'll be offended. How about you rate the music, and song structure and your takeaway. Let them speak for their art, you gonna rate kafka writings next and tell me what I should take away from each of those, how I should feel. Your surely a Richard smoker, I did learn that. 😂
I got into them for a while and bought their cds out of habit. Each one was not as good as the last. I used to sing "Piss Up a Rope" a whole lot at open mic nights.

The solo on Bananas and Blow is one of the best guitar solos from Ween
Dude absolutely, that whole album has impeccable musicianship
@@Arusticreviews fuck yeah dude
Guitar to Gabriel.
Good video but where's Shinola?
I’d argue that Shinola vol 1 is a studio a album, yes it’s b-sides but they were all re-recorded for the album and not the original recordings. I have this debate a lot but in my book it’s a studio album
Has one of my favorite Ween songs, Boys Club!
Not a “proper album” but Shinola is in my top 3

My brother is gay and loves Ween. All my friends have fun applicable tracks from Ween.
I’m genuinely curious what Ween songs are viewed as homophobic? I’m a big fan but i certainly don’t know all their music

How could you talk about Quebec and fail to mention The Argus! Their magnum opus.
I believe it’s supposed to be tear as in like the thing you cry because the songs a tribute to the late Eddie Hazel.
Makes sense!
I understand why certain songs can be sorta problematic by todays standards but how is buenos tardes amigo offensive? Is it just the accent?

Ween were always serious about music but never afraid to put put crazy, unique tracks too. The sign of a great band.

I love ween and lean
My top 5: The mollusk, chocolate and cheese, Quebec, the pod, white pepper
Great video! My favs are the pod, god Ween Satan, pure guava, 12 golden country greats and the mollusk. Other than those I just like some songs here and there off of their other albums.
White Pepper is close to the top of my list I love it! Also Quebec is my favourite and the only one i own in CD because Ween albums seem expensive.
What's the song that has somebody chewing chips? Its so funny. Sorry for being so vague, but I only heard it once
Maybe Pollo Asado? I don’t know, they’ve got a bunch of weird ones
@@Arusticreviews Don't know either. But that They Might Be Giants song is Fingertips. I've got Apollo 18. I gotta get into more Ween
@@kevtruth late response but i think "i'm fat" by ween has chips chewing in it
@@wen3072 Yep, that's the song. Thanks!
You care a lot about what would be appropriate rather than how great it is lol

Hey man welcome back! Hope you can finish your Beach Boys review series with the last album.
Thanks! Yeah I’m working on it, I should be finishing up that and the Bob Dylan reviews within the next month or so
My top:
The Mollusk
Quebec
Chocolate and Cheese
The Pod
White pepper
God Ween Satan
12 Golden Country Greats
Pure Guava
La cucaracha
Good review however La Cucaracha actually came out in 2007.

Quebec is my favorite closely followed by The Pod. The Pod was my favorite forever but lately been reaching for the Quebec record more.
I like your list but i personally would have switched White Pepper with Quebec and The Pod with GodWeenSatan.

Quebec is their least brown At least the guy tried
