I covered an early build of Abscission a couple of years ago, but the full game has just been released and it's a fantastic bit of slow-burn Eldritch body horror. I love the storytelling in it and there are some fun little Easter eggs too - including an ABG one! :)
I'm really glad you were able to cover the full release. I remember when you covered the early build -and I was fascinated to see more. Sure took a while (but these things always do, LoL), but it's definitely worth the wait.
My pleasure! I've been looking froward to this game since the first build. The storytelling is superb and there are lots of great little touches (those spooky past case files for example). Awesome work! :)
I haven't played this game, but watching this playthrough is so compelling! Feels like I'm watching a proper mystery film. You have created a masterpiece! Bravo.
I think this is one of the few games I've played where the Eldritch monster isn't technically a monster. The Pale Queen just wants to help spread her gift to humanity through her acolytes and ascend to live out their greatest dreams in the other world. I mean, you're body becomes fertilizer for her trees, but in doing so, you cross over and, like I said, you live out the best life she gives to you.

Wow! What an amazing game! Really checked all the boxes : great atmosphere, great dialogues, enticing visuals, clever nods to other games or horror novels..Perfection. The Dreamweb graffiti was the icing on the cake, one of my favourite games ever!
FINALLY! I’ve been waiting for this game for years since I saw it’s first beta build and I’ve been obsessively thinking about it ever since cause of how great that demo was and thank god the full release did not disappoint at all, there is so much I can praise like the writing, mystery, world building, characters and so much more I’m just so happy to see this amazing story I’ve been looking forward to finally being done and being as amazing as I hoped it would be when I first saw it. Truly an indie horror gem all prompts to the creator
the game is great, for fans of the genre it really nails a lot of the details you want to see in an adventure game, with a combination of a good story along with puzzles that are logically integrated to the plot. the music and sound is perfect.
Was definetly not expecting a reference to Y'golonac in the case files. I am wondering what the spinning bottle/revolver cylinder case is in reference to? At any rate, I hope to give this game a go or at the very least a purchase in the future.
I honestly don't remember the last time I've seen a game with such poetic and researched writing. That was amazing. The developer needs to get into writing as well if he's not already.
7:33 Wait...what? Melancholic isn't depressing, but rather organized, detailed, and thoughtful? Like...organized, detailed, and thoughtful...about their own suicide? Choleric isn't irritable, but rather efficient, confident, and demanding? Like...efficiently grumpy, confidently annoyed, and is a demanding grouch? Personally, I'd rather have the specific example of what is going to be said, organized by behavior; I really hate it when I choose a behavior, but I get the absolute worst kind of response from my character, games like Mass Effect where I'm constantly loading save files because I accidentally said the wrong thing to the wrong person. I rather liked the SWTOR-style of conversation, where there's a few "neutral" responses for the purposes of getting information, and a few "behavior" choices, like being pragmatic, being aggressive, or being aloof. I rather like the art style, knowing how insanely difficult it is (for me) to make pixelated artwork look appropriate and not like misshapen blobs. Not to mention, given that this starts as a murder mystery, it's disconcerting to have to rely on pixelated artwork to map out specific details of a mystery, and requires a goodly amount of imagination, which should lend itself quite nicely in a Lovecraftian story. I know that red is the best color to read things in the dark, but I got eye strain whenever I'd try to read a book as a kid with a red-tinted flashlight, and this is directly affecting my ability to enjoy this game.
32:24 why does everything in horror games sound like a piano? Touch a corpse - piano. Killer pulls out knife - piano. Protagonist startled by a cat - piano. Protagonist farts - piano.

Funny, Ashfield isn't a city in Massachusetts, but rather a pretty small town. The biggest building there is the church. Whoever made this game should have done their homework on knowing their towns. Just a pet peeve.
So, (Spoilers ahead) ... ... seems like choleric ending is the "best" ending? (Unless you're into helping to spread the infection. Or into spending the rest of your life in a dream which might be considered good from Stanhopes POV)
I think it all depends on if you believe what Spencer McGreggor's selling. If the Pale Lady really is a benevolent being who is trying to help humanity ascend then any ending where you prevent that is a bad ending. I really love the ambiguity in the endings. Depending on what you believe, Stanhope may have saved or doomed the human race.
