      You're welcome! Yeah works for ATS fine. I have a map in the works for ETS2, but that's a long way off yet. I have a lot to cover and build. All I'm saying is below spain.

    IMPORTANT: This video is outdated and it will make your editor crash. Do not use the editor_data.sii copied from the def extract or especially with content you copy from that website.
    That file in ets2 directory now clearly says to use editor_data_custom.sui because they often make changes to the editor_data.sii file, so every update will mess up your map. So you need to delete the old file (editor_data.sii) and you put the new file (editor_data_custom.sui) in the same folder as the old one. You can find it (editor_data_custom.sui) in extracted def file just below editor_data.sii. Paste into the new file (editor_data_custom.sui) ONLY the part with map name, offsets, size below comments without any brackets or declarations. And there's no need to pack it into .scs file, folder will work just fine. Rest of the tutorial is relevant, doesn't really tell you how to calculate map size. Beside the editor_data.sii part it is correct. If @digitalX is reading this pin this to the top

      How do you do to make it work outside the scs file?
      Where do you put the folder that would contain all the other folders? (def, map material/editor)

      ​@@am-Thos im trying to do the same rn, as he said u dont need to convert to scs file now, instead creating folders on the desktop create them directly in the mod folder like:
      mods/user_map/map, material and def folders and subfolders with all files
      and the map editor reads them without conversion to .scs
      make sure to use "editor_data_custom.sui" in def folder
      lmk if that works to u

      This exactly. The tutorial got me on the right track at least but I saw the comments in the SII file that you refer to. Tut was great help otherwise. @puce_ivt I might make a video if I can figure it out for myself. I'll come back here and let you know if I do!

    One thing to note - the TOBJ Editor that is publicly available will not correctly format the texture path.
    After you create your .tobj you still need to open it (in the same application, it's above the 'generate' window) and edit the texture path to only have "/materials/editor/[map].tobj".

    I did everything you did in the video but it won't display the image as the back ground. It says failed to load image in reasd only mode. How do I fix this?

    Hi this is se Asia map developer,I may ask you that how do those offset numbers come from compared to the real map location as printed on ets2 world map as bengan j did?this is such a mystery for me

      Are you on 1.43 now? There was a change to map_data.sii but I have given up map modding now. If you send me your files I will have a look.

    When I try to open tobj edit it says mfc71.dll is missing. What can I do?

      www.dll-files.com/mfc71.dll.html Put the needed .dll files in the same folder when using tobjedit. All the files you need can be found on the site aforementioned.

      @@steini8833 You're welcome! I should have added that in the description, just every time I have used .dll's they are in the same location as the .exe as they should be.

    Really thanks for this tutorial! And I want to know the way how I insert my custom road texture and how i build 4~5 lane road..Could you please cover this subject to your lecture?

      I'm not sure how to make custom textures, I've been trying for ages but it won't work. Regarding 4+ lane roads, just scroll down the list when you make your road, you will find lots of them.

    Hello there! I did everything as in the video, but I still couldn’t launch the map background, the editor gives it as No Texture, although tobj and mat files are written character by character like yours. (Google Translator)

After watching your videos again, I have already defined the city that I created, I made mistake on the coordinates. But when I activated the map mods in-game with the new profile it crashed.

      You need to go into your ATS/ETS2 Steam Directory (where the DLC's are listed) and you have base.scs and def.scs. Drag those out into a new folder and then run the SCS Extractor on them both.

    Hi DigitalX.. Can you help me figure out whats the problem with my testing. When I loaded the compiled scs file following all materials and def files and new map. When I press "A" it shows Black and Red colors only (looks like a text but big font size) then There's sectors text on top. I checked my editor logs and found no error.

      Did you move the "def.scs" file from the base game files? It's in your Steam directory > ATS/ETS2 root folder. You will need the scs extractor for that as well.

      Has this worked for you? People said they have tried it on 1.43 and it doesn't. But I have this working on 1.43 with a custom map background. I've no idea where they are going wrong with it.

      Do you have "-force_mods" in the shortcut properties target line box? I can translate to Russian if that's easier.

      @@banjoman3370 That's because I have the def, map and material folder you see on the desktop into an archive and made it a .scs file. Useing 7zip.

      Use the correct version of tobjedit.
      There are usually two versions of tobjedit published on forums and github.

      @@adrianmickey5067 I haven't done this since the video, check the map background sii files, see if it points to the background files at the bottom correctly. I can link you to the source where I learned this but it will be long.

    Hey DigitalX can you help me out with a problem? When I start the map editor without force_mods my map is loaded correctly and I can edit and safe it successfully. But the background map is not being loaded. However, when I set up editor to start with force_mods the editor starts up, freezes and crashes immediately. Do you have any advice of what could be the cause of this problem?

      Hi, if you go to My Documents/ATS or ETS2 and check the editor.log. Scroll down the bottom and work your way up, let me know what you see relating to your files.

      ​@@digitalx8460 Dude thank you for pointing me into the right direction. I was checking out the game.log file all the time an wondered why I couldn't find any error lines. Didn't come to mind to check the editor.log. There was a problem with the editor_data.sii wich I was able to fix myself. Thank you, you are my hero!
