Surf Vlog Firewire Mashup Raw Footage

- I surfed an spot down south who's name I cannot utter, it is Voldemort of surf breaks. You'll probably recognize it though. I'm kidding by the way.
The footage is my entire session from start to finish. I sped up the parts where I'm paddling and sitting but will play in real time myself positioning, catching, and surfing the wave. While the session plays out, I have two stories for you. One might be a little boring, the second one isn't. Let me know if you like this type of content. If you don't want to listen to the stories or you hate my voice, just mute it. :) Watching the entire session is helpful if you are at this stage of progression.
For beginners and intermediates, pay attention to me moving around and also fighting the current. There is a drift north so you will see me constantly paddling south. But in doing so, I'm being very proactive. I don't ever wait for waves to come to me, you have to position yourself to maximize the return on investment. But also having said that, I did miss the best wave by moving too far south at one point. :( Net win though, caught a few open faces.

Also, I had to do CPR on a guy once by the side of the road. He also didn’t make it. Very heavy, I struggled to flip him over. It’s something you don’t forget.

LOL, yeah, it's funny cuz just south of us, about 100 yrds it was 2x as big but they were all rights. haha I should probably start going right.

This was a nice change of pace 🤙, liked the stories and also watching you move around searching for positions helps me. Positioning is probably my biggest weakness right now.

Mashup crew for life
Thanks so much for posting this! As a fellow 5'4 Mashup owner I've been debating what to do for the lower end (uber grovel). Your wave at 11:02 makes me think this board can do a little bit of uber grovel if I'm feeling more energetic that day and can paddle harder. On paper looking at that wave I would have been thinking I need a sweet potato 2 (which I sold unfortunately) but you rode it well and did a turn at the end! I'll probably skip the Machadocado idea after seeing this and your other video on the Machadocado.

I entered a military dependent surf contest at 15 won my heat for the advancement and the judge said let's have a repeat tomorrow for the better swell vs today's crap and I said ok ....... the next day I didn't advance and to top it off they announce my name wrong on the overhead PA system ...... lol
Anyway never competed again and focused on free surf vs. my brother competing in the NSSA on Oahu. I for one am an introvert hence my choice with surfing, piano and guitar playing. Crazy how introvert people like Curren and Simmers shine in the public eye!

I'm a huge introvert as well... It's funny because those that know me think I'm not but they don't realize that I'm already really close to them and comfortable. They don't remember the beginning of our friendship. Having this channel has been odd with my introversion. I'm always jealous of my friends that can go anywhere and talk to anyone and within minutes become friends. Wish I had that skill. haha
@ThomyeSurfs me and you would make best friends for sure ....... hey speaking of which I blew the girl thing too SO SO many times lol. I've always said the aggressive ones get the best of me time and time again lol. Public speaking is another nightmare too even though I had to take speech a full year in college back in the day it never helped! Kudos on your journey here, you seem to have found your calling. My family circle always wanted me to do a finance channel or social media but I just do texting lol.

I had a similar experience with a swimmer. I was paddling out at South Maroubra in Sydney and I just happened to see a hand pop out of the water. I thought someone was waving to their friends….I paddled over and saw this guy’s face under water. I dragged him on my board. His face was grey. He was heavy and it ook me ages to get him in and we were only 20 metres from the sand bank.
After the surf I had to write the experience down to decompress as it affected me later. I take my hat off to all those life guards who save people every day. Thanks again for sharing your experience. Love watching your videos.
Would be great if you could do on the FRK Swallow, to see how it compares against the FRK+ and Sci Fi 2
Definitely want to. I actually want to put it up against my Sharpeye FT which is my current favorite performance board. I'm wondering if the FRK swallow is similar. FRK swallow at the same length, 5'8, is 2 liters more. As for comparing it to the FRK and FRK Plus, I already know I'll like it better because I just prefer swallows at the moment

You ever had these helium boards break or crease? My helium seaside cracked and creased from one rail to the other and I’m surprised because I’m a light guy and I surf 2-3 foot waves. anyway gonna fix it and see if it works as good but I think it won’t be the same
I've had 2 firewire board crease on me. First was my old Dominator, the original. I forget what the construction was called, it had that weird valve on it though. Also, I recently creased my 5'3 GoFish which was in LFT. But I slammed into it so there was no avoiding it. If it were any other board, it would have broke for sure. The GoFish was still surfable without repairs.

How machado boards work in overhead waves?
depends on how much overhead. head high is fin and if you have the skill, Like Rob, then you could easily surf well overhead. I think I saw Rob surfing it in 3+ overhead.

Just a Soloshot 3+. It is hit or miss. Most of the time it works great
