It's about the music industry's profits, not the voice. If there are any "crimes" then the greater neglect of Dutch contralto Aafje Heynis is one. And future generations will be amazed.

I think they considered it as almost cultural barbaric, wondering what’s wrong with us. It was only then that i, for the first time, heard of Aafje Heynis. And i’m into classical singing. So far i still only have one cd of her, brought out at about the same time. Indeed, a beautiful voice and performance. There are more great singers out there that are not well known to the larger public. Take Romanian Virginia Zeani. Only by coincidence came across her a few years ago. Her sheer beauty is captivating. I Love Deutekom. Then again i love a bit of spectacle.
The singing is beautiful as always, The charisma is completely lacking as always. nothing in this performance conveys young virgin. Just Stoned faced matron. Still I have to admit it’s my favorite version of this aria. Even with her absolute lack of charm. The vocal technique is totally mesmerizing.

Just breathing normally needs physical involvement - the relatively large and strong diaphragm muscles, the intercostal muscle system between the ribs, and throat movements to capture and release air ....a great deal of physical involvement. But, as in most top singers then, Deutekom understood the important role of concentrated, strong breathing to create and support her big voice. And with trained experts (singers or athletes), the star is the one who makes something difficult look easy. She makes it LOOK AS THOUGH there's no physical involvement. With "zero physical involvement" of lung musculature she wouldn't even be able to speak, let alone sing powerfully. The voice is, after all, a musical instrument, a wind instrument. Zero physical involvement = no wind = no sound. .
When you listen to this kind of special voices you don’t focus on little mistakes or missing stuff in their presentation you just watch it until they finish it and respect them. Rarely can find voice like hers.❤

Bellisima voz, ella es una gran soprano, para papeles veristas, inigualable. en una caballeta como esta va mejor en una soprano ligera, que pueda ir en el tiempo correcto. por ejemplo: Sills, Jo, Battle, Sutherland....
I loved her a lot, but she tended to make lots of little mistakes such as wrong notes (start of the coda here), even on recordings. And of course, the guh-guh-guh articulation (not too prevalent in this aria). But it was a beautiful, fresh, soaring sound.
Almost criminal that too few times this miracle voice was recorded. The world is left with almost nothing. She is a true miracolo.
