This song definitely has liminal moments, but when you resolve the chord progression to the 1 (root key, home chord) I feel it loses all of its 'traveling', transitionary energy. I think if you avoid going back to the 'home chord' it will certainly sound more suspenseful, unresolved and 'wandering with no destination'. In a liminal piece of music there should be an exclusively wandering quality with no clear beginning or end. Hope this is helpful (:
