Rebecca is a lucky Girl.........way back in 1981 at 13 I so wanted this kit as my friend had it, I badgered my Dad so hard but he wasn't having any of it :( I had to make do with a 2nd hand Sand Rover, bad times lol.......so fast forward to 2010 I was so having this kit and as I built it I could not stop thinking about my Dad who I lost in 2006.

The front axel/suspension in this kit is about as scale VW as you could hope for. Always one of the coolest R/C kits around. She's way more cute than the other person on R/C Kicks...... ;)

I remember the car from back then but I was too young for RC buggies at that time. I actually have the brochure from the local hobby-shop from 1983 and the car is described as "the best selling off-road car for several years".
@@RCKickschannel Absolutely, there (1983) prices on the kits. The Extras to any kit is RC + battery + charging cable for 12 volt = approx NOK 1000. A few kit (only) prices: The SRB cars; Sand Schorcher is NOK 1470, R-R is NOK 1398, Ford Ranger is NOK 1470, Super Champ is NOK 1420. Other interesting cars are Kyosho Scorpion at NOK 1199 and Kyosho Beetle at NOK 1095. The cheapest one is the Tamiya Holiday Buggy at NOK 725. Wild Willy is NOK 1090. (I would assume that 7 NOK equals approx 1 USD back then.)

First kit I bought when getting back into Tamiya RCs. I've never been a fan of the Beetle as a car but I remember a mate who had this kit while I had the Ranger. If only they would re release the Ranger...I'd buy 10! My plan for Christmas is to change a Blackfoot body into the Ranger. I have all the parts now so hopefully I can make a half decent job of it. I believe that the positive camber (rear wheels leaning outwards) also contributes to the not-so-good handling. This can probably be partly improved by reducing the shock length marginally with internal spacers, for a slight reduction of ground clearance.
Will Rebecca be adding any scale extras like a 3D printed flat 4 engine? I'm doing that to mine as we speak. Looking forward to seeing what you do with this classic. Paint next for me...

Hi love the rc buggy awsome imb subbed on my other channel for just watching everything i like but i set this channel up building models nearly 2 years but i for this xmas decided i loved watching rc stuff and alot the subs i got ware rc guys so i decided this year i wanted to go rc starter hobbby grade rc, s so i got a early xmas pressent too my daughter said no im to open it xmas morning when she opens what santa brings her ha ha the Ittle boss has spoken so yeah i got tge ftx rtr commet buggy 112scale and i also picked up a crawlor its same scale i build models in which is 124scale that was dearer than the buggy even though its smaller its 2.0 ranger both upgradeable there awsome to look at ha ha until xmas day morning should i say but yes i love the beetle rc kit u got i see the herby version shell on wall ill sub on my content TH-cam channel keep up good work

Did this build very enjoyable and love the aluminium. I dinnae like the lack of diff. The bug drives like shite around corners.
You can get an upgraded diff for it.
