Cuteeee! Handy hint......Put the palette on, then put the whole container into a snap lock bag, THEN click the top lid on.... they’ll stay juicy, fresh and non-mouldy for ages.... mine are 15+ months and counting.... never sprayed with water or glycerin! (Especially since that is an open bottom “tin” too... the air will get in, bit of a slightly dumb design now I think about it, but they want you to buy more, not hoard 😂)
Things I love about the way Steph paints: 1. Her method is so different from my own! Mine feels very, very methodical while Stephs seems so much more flowy and free. 2. The way she blends colors right on the painting and continues to blend and change things up as she goes. 3. The way the painting just appears on the page, its like I'm watching her construct what she sees in her mind, it's really quite lovely to watch 4. The imperfect perfection - I love how her paintings are more impressionist rather than making something look like a photograph 5. I also really appreciate that Steph has stopped sharing the picture of what she paints as the thumbnail - I love watching these videos to see what she paints and when the painting was the thumbnail it always felt like a spoiler, so glad it is a surprise again! ❤❤❤
My brain broke for a minute when you said these cost less in USD. I was like “I know the pound is having a rough time, but has it gotten that weak?” Turns out it is still slightly stronger! As for the painting, I feel you on detailing too early. It’s just too satisfying to fully avoid!
Zinc White and Titanium White are slightly different. Zinc white is usually better for mixing colors and is less opaque, while Titanium white is more opaque (so it's better for highlights) and mixing it with colors will generally produce more pastel-like colors.
Omg these are adorable. I definitely do not need more jelly gouache, but I love the aesthetic, and definitely the price! D: and they opened so cleanly by the looks of it! Winning.
Fun! I love jelly gouache. 45 ml per cup seems great. Not available for a good price in Canada, but I’m going for the HimI/Miya 50 or 56 again once I need refills personally as I use lots of these types of paint personally. I do love the honeycomb look and always advise people mix the cups up and consider adding a touch of isopropyl to prevent molding. I will continue to go after the best deals for where I live in the world and based on my needs, however these may drop in price here too and are worth considering for the future. If the price goes low enough it’s worth it just for the white and the other colours become sort of ‘free bonuses’. White is the main reason I get whole new sets Lol. Pull out a calculator and do the cost per ML comparison before buying and always include additional fees (tax/import/delivery) look for ones from within your country when possible and free shipping to save the extra fees!
This painting looks really pretty, the paint palette actually does as well, it would be interesting to see how they get on for you in the coming months, because that’s a really good price!
Hullo Steph! I do you enjoy watching your videos the biggest question I have with jelly gouache is every time I try to look up the light fast qualities there never seems to be any concrete evidence or information. Sometimes you can find pigment information but it seems they forget about light fast because of the jelly? Doesn’t seem right to me. Lovely painting. We do not have any telephone poles in our neighborhood it was laid out in the mid 80s and everything is underground it’s kind of tough to get a street light put up because there are no poles or wires above the streets! Thanks for sharing this amazing hexagonal palette with us. I like it just for the shape and a very nice mixing palette too I think I might spritz it with water more often, or buy regular gouache and put it in the cups, those hexagon cups are very cool looking!
@@SorrensSorrow I was taught that gouache was not a permanent medium, but this was because everything was photographed then thrown in the trash. Gouache is made just like watercolors and most pigments have lightfast ratings. Now many artists use gouache as a final archival medium. I still have troubles with this!
I have a hunch that that half hexagon shaped gap in the white pallet should fit just right around the half hexagon shaped raised bit on the middle right side of the box with the paint cups
Can you do a comparison video between this and the himi gouache? Or maybe you can do a jelly gouache comparison video! There are so many different brands now
Where did you get your paint palette at the start of the video? I’ve been hoping to find some of those for myself and for my children’s ministry kiddos!
I liked the look of the paints in the box but I felt they look a little insipid on the page. They seemed to have very little oomph if you know what I mean. Does that make sense? They just seemed to be a little weak with a low pigment load. I think that's what I'm trying to get at. I loved that painting though. It's nice to see a normal British house that looks much like mine on a painting on TH-cam. I know that's silly but it made me immensely happy! Weird huh? God bless you and all those you love. Have a great day!
I would say the price in USD should be more than 14, not less. USD is a weaker currency than GBP. I've noticed this in previous videos as well, might be worth correcting since it gives viewers an inaccurate perspective on the price :)
Good point, I dont know why my brain thought it was less, I think because it's worth less than a pound that I was like , it's cheaper ! Thanks for pointing this out.
Painting looks great. I love the more almost pastel looking color pallet you were able to get with the colors. Was thrown off by the size of your paint water container. Don’t know if I need to get one that size now!
Maybe you mean that they look like kids acrylic paint when you just open them up and they look all shiny? I think that once you paint with them it’s different than that though
Yay, I love it when you paint telegraph poles. (Weird comment now I see it written down. But true!)
Haha no I totally get that! I love it when people do that too :)
Nope! Not weird at all! It's totally satisfying.😁
Cuteeee!

Those shaped paints are so cute! Lovely as always, the way you paint and the beautiful colours you mix!
It's really hot here in the Netherlands too, I hope you are doing well!
Wonderful art, and the paints seem great. I love how they are making these paints so accessible to more people by keeping to cost low.
Love how the sky looks rainbow ish!!
Super cute set! I might have to try them out.

the way the paint looks on the page is cool

Is there a difference between jelly gauche and regular gauche in terms of how they are to use?
I have the same question.
Zinc White - the yellowy one and Titanium White - the whiter one! Zinc white is for mixing and Titanium white is for opaque white areas!
I love the painting!! These paints look interesting :)
I am so excited by the pricepoint of this!! this is going to make painting with nicer paints so much more accessible to so many people 🥺

Its goauche normally not light fast

@@mjpete27 any of the ones that are light fast usually have that information, as it is a selling point.

Your art is stunning as usual, Steph, but I definitely prefer when you chat through the video! 💖
Nice! Thank you for this review.. these jelly paints sound like fun! And you created a very nice artwork with them! Thank you for sharing! 🌼
I love the videos when you try cool art supplies!!
Beautiful painting!
Loved watching!! End painting super cute. Thanks for sharing!
Those are huge! Massive amount of paint
Can you perhaps do a video of comparing the honey comb jelly gouache and the Himi Miya ones?

£14?! Incredible value! I’ve got to check this out. Thanks for the fab review!
My only issue with that packaging.. it's not even trying to be air tight.. so will they dry out faster?. Love the painting!!
Hexagon is Bestagon.

I got it in a home goods shop for quite cheap, never thought about buying a jar from there instead of an expensive art shop!
Weird thing to be thrown off by 😅
But you not average, you are a pro 🔥
Me putting it in rainbow order
They have them on amazon Canada but they're around 50$

OMG this gouache looks like a cheap kid's paints the colors are so bad.)))
Disagree :)
