  • Follow me in part 2 of my tune-up series on this 2013 Volkswagen 2.0L Jetta. Let's video we replace the spark plugs. These spark plugs are nickel core. When tightening up the spark plugs you should torque them to 21 foot pounds. I believe Bosh is the OEM manufacturer for spark plugs on this model. Codes list as P0300, P0301, p0302, p0303, and P0304. should be same or similar to Beetle and golf.

    If you replug the wires be sure to plug them in properly top right is #1, top left is#2, bottom left #3, bottom right #4. Hope it helps someone...I learned the hard way!

      Are you talking about plugging the boots for the spark plugs or actual spark plugs? Because actual spark plugs don’t have no order specifically they need to go in just the boots over them do? Correct?

    Thanks for the video. When using the plug pliers for plug 2 I managed to knock the injector connector for injector 1. The plug connector moves back and forth and the other ones seem to do the same. Are these plugs damaged when they are moved?

    • @ScottiesHobbies

      They should move a little but don't move them. Lol. If a injector seal goes bad, ull have a headache on your hands.

      Thanks for the reply! This is the fuel injector which has a o ring plug. It’s ok to rotate it out of position but the o ring in the rail and into the engine can get damaged.
      I ordered the lisle pliers tool and it’s 7 inches. Get an 11 inch plier tool that extra 4 inches gets you to plug 2 in the MSI engine.

    • @ScottiesHobbies
      @ScottiesHobbies  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those are just the 3/8 drive tools that fit your socket wrench. So the socket and extension you use to remove the plugs should also fit the torque wrench to install.
      Let me know if that answers your question. Good luck on your diy fix.

  • @wehrmachtoberst

    So question regarding the removing of the wires from each plug. When a friend of mine tried doing this the "boot" stayed on the plug. Do we need a special tool to remove or just brute force to remove it? To pull up on it I mean you make it release from the plug itself...

    • @ScottiesHobbies
      @ScottiesHobbies  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sometimes they can be a pain in the but to get off. Make sure to replace the plugs and wires as directed by manufacturer so the parts don't get stuck together. I think I might have a link in the description for 'spark plug wire pliers'. In your case you might need those pliers.

    Did u put anti seize on the new plugs?

    • @ScottiesHobbies
      @ScottiesHobbies  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't think so. I stopped using anti seize on spark plugs a while back. Someone schooled me on anti seize. When using anti seize it changes the torque rating. Also makes them easier to back out. That's why most spark plugs now have that ring that crushes to keep them in place. I've heard horror stories about the Ford 4.6 and 5.4 L blowing spark plugs out because anti-seize was used. Just like on lug nuts, never put anti seize on lug nuts just because it changes the torque pressure and will back out easier.

      Not really, it’s just gonna make your engine run smoother and you’ll be able to sustain maximum throttle/power better if your plugs are worn out. you could see a little more throttle response if your replacing worn out plugs as well. If your looking to modify a non turbo 2.0 Jetta like this one you should stay away from that and think about keeping it your daily driver or sell it and buy a car that has more potential. These engines are really reliable but they have little potential to make reasonable power without spending big money
