Seems like Kanye has been marginalized for most of his career. I guess history does repeat itself since in this interview he is also talking about not limiting his creativity. i agree on not listening to rap all the time. I need other voices other genres other perspectives to listen to.

Kanye is the kind of success story that encourages me as a underground artist with a small following. Seeing how he’s developed his skills and slowly blown up after seizing each and every opportunity he’s been giving has been inspirational! Mans has quickly become a mainstay in the industry and for good reason. Dude is too nice! I know if I put in the work, I can reach a larger audience some day too, but for now, I’m happy being a supporter. My turn will come too. Salute to Kanye🔥

I did this for 5 years of my life. A few years into that job I stopped playing fantasy football with my friends and they couldnt understand why. I said I am around football all day every day, the last thing I want to do with the little free time that i have is watch more football.

I really dig this interview. My intellectual and artistic interest in Kanye has really been peaked by this. So much press has focused on statements from him that sounded just crazy and super-narcissistic...I just dismissed him out of hand. I think it's cool that Kanye is one of the only dudes in mainstream hip hop, or mainstream music in general, that becomes noticeably less mainstream with each release. It just proves that Kanye doesn't care about how many records he sells. He wants to make music that he likes, shit that he wants to hear... and if other people don't like it then fuck it. I wish more people in the music business would be that way; maybe I'd actually like the radio if that were the case.

Evetybody always hating on damn music. LIKE WHAT TF. You gonna say that a Van Gogh is "better" than a Picasso painting? That don't make no sense. Paintings are different they are all beautiful in their own ways and register differently with different people. We all can agree on that right. I mean maybe I tend to gravitate towards late registration and graduation because in my opinion those are just legendary straight up hip hop sounding albums but I also love the shit out of 808s that was my fucking jam in the 6th grade and it's a classic. I had no idea the controversy and shit he had thrown at him for that albumn. And then you got the classic "Yeezus was wack Kanye went crazy wtf are these verses in Pablo?!" Just leave the man be he is an innovator I'll go as far as saying he has more creativity than any of the students in my adv harmony class in college. It's easy to be cynical but what good does that do? Stay in your own lane and eliminate the hate. Even when I don't vibe with a certain artist I try to understand what people dig about it and I will extensively study loads of music I might not understand. In my opinion every one of Kanye albums was incredibly unique "yezzus" was a little more minimalist but "bound 2" just gives me that tingly feeling that al green does and "blood on the leaves" was an appropriate slice of the bone chilling "strange fruit". And from a producers perspective Life of Pablo was revolutionary in terms of harmonic sampling he pushes popular music forward period he creates UNIQUE new styles and everybody else copy's him. Maybe I wouldn't have sampled that "panda" joint but he's Kanye he does wtf he wants. Allss I know is chances verse on ultra beam is straight uplifting spine tingling magic straight up. And wolves is just another golden example of Ye using the human voice as an instrument. He's a character but let's try to take a less cynical way of life as a country I think that this would be the biggest step we could take towards peace✌️️

I love Kanye he's an amazing rapper, producer, entertainer and just overall stylish dude... even though I wasn't feeling 808 at all... except for a few tracks.
I think 808's was a good idea but maybe he should of took the time to make sure it was perfect... Heart lock down sounds like he made it in 5 mins... very sloppy.
808 was still better than half the crap on the radio... I guess I hold Kanye at a high standard than most.
