  • This is my harbor freight tire changer that I got for 32.99. I anchored it into the concrete of my shop floor. it is much more secure. The biggest changes are the centering come from lucid autowerks and the duck bill mount that I made. it is not my design there a lot of video on youtube and i just copied those. if you have any questions leave them in the comments and I will answer them the best I can

    Great information. The addition of the tire duck thinggy was awesome. Got to find one to weld up for my tire changer. Thanks for the information.

    That duckbill device is awesome! I could buy the Lucid version but I subscribe to your logic of not spending $300 on a $30 tire changer. Any chance you would be willing to do a quick video on how you built your duckbill device? I really want to make my own and make it as simple yet effective as possible.

    This is funny...just drill out a 3/8 hole at end of red pry bar and attached the duck bill mount/dismount attachment and go in a counter clock motion to mount and dismont... cost 16 dollars

    Nice job. Any chance you could wip up one of those "Lucid like" devices and sell it to me? Im not a welder and as you know the Lucid price is ridonculous! I could get the centering cone on my own.

    • @kylechristopherson4361
      @kylechristopherson4361  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I dont feel that I could do a good enough job building on to feel comfortable charging for it. when you factor in time and materials I don't think lucid is gouging on the price and it much nicer then mine. that being said. if your don't know how to weld or are not very good at it, this could be an opportunity to learn a new skill. there are loads of tutorials on TH-cam for just about everything. get some iron and a welder and just start building stuff. eventually you will get good at it

    Never seen having to hammer the bead breaker like that?

    • @johnbattista9519
      @johnbattista9519 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It gets the lip closer to the bead.. if you don’t, then there’s more flexing of the sidewall and wasted motion and energy to break the bead.

    Is it much more difficult to change a tire (I mean to replace it completely) at a low temperature? I did my 1st tire, balanced it, and ready for the 2nd one, but the temperature here dropped. I saw in one film how they heated the tire w/heat gun, but how much, where exactly, all that is kind of vauge. Also in that film they were working on tractor tires, I have just regular passenger car (R16 tires). My HF Tire Machine is mounted outside, while it is snowing I won't do anything, but tomorrow it will be clear. So I decided to do a small research on the subject meanwhile. At what temperature you can change tire more or less comfortably, can you do it @45F, or it is too low? My main concern is that I can tear the tire or burn it w/heater gun. Thank you for a great film, but would you do that procedure at a low temperature?

    • @kylechristopherson4361
      @kylechristopherson4361  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would imagine that a colder tire would be stiffer. I have a heated shop so I haven't given it much though. I very much doubt that you could burn a car tire with a heat gun, I also think that it would be a wast of time. with enough lube it will go on just fine.

    • @olenaerhardt7725
      @olenaerhardt7725 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kylechristopherson4361 Thank you. I won't apply heat, since you need to know well how much. Smb wrote me that on tractor tires it is O'K, but car tires (they are thinner) some internal structure can be damaged. We are in Dallas and next week will be ~50-60F. Also I got a peace of information on temperature question, that there is some kind of limit of 44.6F (if below, better not to change). Also winter tires not so much affected, but I'm working on All Seasons. Thank you again for your concern and film.

    Your bead breaker is too straight up and down, it needs to be pinned into the first hole for an angle towards the bead. And wet tire.

    This would have been a great video. To bad it was filmed with the important stuff out of the frame of the camera. Camera was set too low. Otherwise you made a great video. Do you have another one which shows everything important?
