a vet tip here PLAY WHAT YOU THINK IS FUN OR LOOK COOL DO NOT ONLY GO FROM WHAT IS "BEST" literally everything is playable so look up what you think is cool or badass and go from there
Tip 10 is a great tip on any MMO. When you're totally new, give yourself permission to do things "wrong" and just mess around to get a feel. I'm a vet in GW2, and I so often see people trying so hard to fast track this or that, or they're complaining about something that was intended to take time. Like the infamous Skyscale mount unlock. But I tell them, just chill and "whittle at it" ...which is what I did, and I can say in all honesty, I don't even remember doing some of those things beCAUSe I took my time. Anyways, I have MMO wanderlust again. BDO and ESO are the two remaining BIG mmos I have yet to try, so I'm DLing BDO now. Thank you for the tips!
I second this. The game is immersive and beautiful when you take the endgame prwssure off and just enjoy the journey. Every time you play you learn a new thing, and it feels invaluable whenever you do unlike other easier-to-learn mmos.
I just started the game a few days ago (big MMO player, had always wanted to try BDO, finally got around to it), and these sound like excellent tips. Also I think the video is very well done, very concise, straightforward, well organized.
Just started playing yesterday, I've played a lot of Japanese/Korean MMOs like Ragnarok Online and Maplestory so this was actually not that hard to get into for me, everything was easily understandable. Only thing that I'm getting used to is the workers, but it's pretty self explanatory.
Thank you for this video. I am a returning player from 2017 but never played it for more than a couple of months. It is lovely to watch a video which creates a good overview of things BDO has to offer. It can be rather overwhelming, hehe.
Actually it is killing the fun in the game, i was using it and finding the game shit. Then i made a normal character, playing in a normal server, and now i am having a blast!
@@AEspiral to each his own. I like it because it puts people on a more even playing field in pvp because you can only go so high with the gear. Also for new players it is probably the best way to get gear while learning the game.
@@al44tec For newer player is the best way to reach endgame without learning anything! To be honest even the Naru gear stuff i hate. Better if they simply gave more black stones. This Naru armor is shit and kills the meaning of all those weapon and armor boxes we get.
@@AEspiral tell me a better way to learn that isn't going to teach you enhancing, crafting and the general map knowledge as well as increasing fame. The gear is super easy to enhance and it's also an easy way to get some capital as a new player. My personal favorite way as a new player. Like I said. To each his own. You did hear that part right
1) Do the main quest 2) Make sure to be doing some activity whilst afk (no logout timer) 3) Sell stuff you do not need as a newbie (silver more valuable early game) 4) Always eat food 5) Do not bind combo skills on your hot bar 6) Talk to all npcs with ? above head (increases knowledge which increases max energy) 7) Join a guild (lots of benefits) 8) Stay on seasonal servers as long as possible (disabled pvp) 9) making alts is very important (big thing is to prevent main from moving from place to place) 10) BDO is a marathon not a sprint (have long-term goals)
This video and your “Is it worth it 2020” video have convinced me to buy this game today. The Playstation Store has it 60% off, so its like 15 bucks. Excited! I hope you continue to support it.

Great video! I haven't started this game yet but I'm trying to learn as much as possible as a new player! Thinking of going with Sage! Thanks for the tips!
I just started and have played like 4-6 hrs just comprehending the combat and having fun with it, did a bit of the main questing, but it all just seems so overwhelming... This game has an Insaaane amount of content, but as a filthy casual just bunny hopping from game to game trying to find a one to settle on, how do I ease myself into this? You said just do the main quest and preferably on the Oliva-exp+ servers, talk to all the question marked NPCs. Should I just keep those sideQuests on the backburner and just focus on the Main-Q line? How necessary is it to do the gathering skills at first, I dont have large windows to dedicate to playing so would it really be a detriment to just skip that all at first?
I’m a new player..really lost..stumbled around to almost level 50 without a house or nodes or anything 😁😔 any walkthroughs or tips would be greatly appreciated before I stop playing lol

WOW, here it is 2/1/2022 and I just started playing... I wish that I had seen this much sooner than today! do you have a newer guide, some things have changed? I know that you tips are not directly version specific and overall great BDO Tips. I really need to learn a LOT more!
My piece of advice, you will be spending time at pollys forest, a lot of time. if you invest your energy (you will be maxed out a lot in the beginning) into the krogdalos trace node, you will get a lot more money early on while grinding for your skill points.
You can play on any servers at any point with any character. You just select server change and select which to go to. Itll just drop you into a diff server exactly where you were in the old one. There nothing like uploading/downloading at terminal like ark
It is indeed a marathon, although i play console more than pc, still took me 5 months to get an epheria sailboat, although i went the shakatu seals route
This game feels like too much , I started playing 4 days ago and I'm at lvl 52 with no idea on what I'm doing or what I'm supposed to do ... dp 30-40 and when I searched it I came to know that I basically lost all the stuff(naru) by selling i no not where , I only had a helmet and I lost all my upgrade stones while upgrading it and the durability dropped to 20% and its not getting repaired, there are no proper guides and honestly going from here to there takes a lot of time even on the horse ... at this point I'm thinking maybe I should just quit or start with a new character 😔
Start over! There's no point of rushing through am mmo unless you're playing with someone who knows the game well. Level 52 in 4 days?? You probably skip out on a bunch of extra Xp or gathering missions to help you understand processing. Learn bout armor, I'm level 27 and just bought it Thursday. I'm bout to start a new character myself cause I miss out on stuff too. Nothing wrong with starting over to learn how to play better. Black desert is a never ending game so you a be ok.

@@_.Re1na Oh so even though you saved some grinding time with your alts, you still gotta pick up the resources with your main? Or is there a way to transport resources from one town to another by using NPCs or w/e?
THERE IS A FAST TRAVEL, but you have to wait 1 hour before you arrive at the destination. Here is how: When using a character and you go to the character switch section, under your current character is a transport button. Using that you can teleport yourself to another city, even with your loaded horse! (just be nearby or sit on it)
Yes I’m lazy so if I need to use a storage I will use that ‘fast travel’ grind for a hour then log in 😂🤣.. even thought I probably would of got there and back on my horse in 30mis 😂
I keep trying to get my friends to play this game again but they keep telling me that it's laggy for them but I tell them that maybe it's their slow internet connection cuz I never get laggy
In this game it is very hard to advise ... if you like melee type or range.. if you like to move a lot or not... it really depends on your play style, you have many slots, try different character and pick the one you enjoy playing the most, that will be the best char for newbie
You mean life skills? Each char has their own , you cannot share levels of like skills just like you can’t share xp. In the family you do share maximum amount of contribution points (CP) and maximum amount of energy . When you spend CP, it is from the family (uses for all your chars) when you spend energy it is only each char (if you spend all your energy with one char , when you switch to another one their energy will be full given that you didn’t do anything with that other char)
The state of the game is so bad right now if you don’t have a ssd don’t play this right now.. wait until the new consoles come out and you will have a much better experience.. trust me!
This is starting to sound like Elite Dangerous in a way, where a lot of upfront research will benefit you to keep you from being lost and confused. Like it won't spoil the game at all, it will make it easier to get into when you hit the ground running.
also before the central market was implemented the game was pretty tough to progress in, many of those people quit the game back then and are not aware of the changes made to the game that have made the game far more player friendly than it used to be.
Go look up black star weapon upgrades before buying this game!.. you know what they say ‘if you can’t handle the heat then stay out of BDO!.. ps not for the gentle hearted
If you type in the chat “lf guild” you’ll be drown in people asking you to join theirs 😃 , make sure you join a clan that plays the same way you play (if you like life skills, pvp, wars, solo, party..) People will tell you this is a solo game and parties are non existent ... truth is , some hooligans took over with the their play style and then kids feel bad for not following the same path as the bad boys in class 😁 lol this game is a looooooot more fun playing with friends, soloing gets ridiculously boring imo... If you are in a pt of 5, you get 250% xp from the mobs , it is beneficial , Some people just ask for pt in the chat for the area they want to pt and that’s how you find one.
Some people are too busy... which server are you on? Try to join a guild , type in the chat that you’re interested in joining a friendly guild , chances are many people are going to want you
By far the best tip: Never play on retail unless you like to dump your valuable lifetime into nothingness. Then again, unless ur a lawyer or a doctor, then you're fine
Alts are simply other characters that you can have on your account. The are many things to do in bdo so you can have 1 character at 1 place doing something specific (that would save you time of travelling with your main char) Nodes are mainly to have workers bringing you stuff “for free” (you need to invest contribution points but you can get them back) like pets , you need to feed them often, they like beer.
A place in your Map where you can interact with the Node Manager, expending some of your Contributions points (and some time, Energy) to own the Node as a spot to work with their resources that it offers.
literally have 4 hours in this game now pretty much nothing but it has been the most hard/confusing 4 hours in any game i have played this game is fr so freaking hard
11 : Just calm down . neatly your stuffs , goods and things from your Inventory, Storage first . Also, make more char, sharing is power of family system .
Alternate character. This is a common practice in MMOs to create and level up multiple ALTernate characters and have them specialize in crafting to create items your 'Main' needs. Also good for trying out different classes.
Trying to give this game a try but completely lost. Apparently you can't do much at all with the trial, and I didn't want to buy the game until I knew I wanted to play. There seems to be absolutely no guides out there that show the basics. I played WOW for 15 years and this game is nothing like that mechanically. Tons of these "tips" videos out there, but none of them seem to show someone how to go through character creation, starting the main quest line, getting out of the starting area, how skill trees work, other basics.
I will give one the MOST important tip when starting playing this game: before starting anything, just go to a spot with lots of mobs, and grind it for a couple hours. Repeat the same 2-3 days in a row. And then realize that this is 90% of game experience. If you like that kind of gameplay, then you can start doing everything else. This tip may save you quite a lot of time and effort in a long run.
@Redeemed hehe been following for a long time and he has amazing vids! , I’m a returning player I already have high lvl char 😊 it’s just nice to see that there are people with more in their mind than just grinding 😃 that’s why I liked your comment because it is very discouraging as a new player to read things like “it’s just grind” “it’s a solo game” “there’s nothing to do” ... Glad I’m over that period 😅
Give it it time. Just concentrate on the main quest and complete that first 😊 Worry about everything else after. I believe that your "main" character (as in the first character you make) is more like a trial character to know the game better, than you create a character with the knowledge you aquired with the first one.
im trying hard to like this game but i just couldn't force myself to do all thw dumb kill quest its so fucking boring i literally fall asleep while doing the main quest. go to point a kill this go to point b kill that talk to this guy and this guy go to this area and kill this, i mean the whole idea of having a "deep" combat system feels stupid in PVE when you can just spam a single attack while your eyes closed and cheese through all the mobs. they could atleast make those stuff challenging
They tried to make it beginner friendly, when you get to higher end mobs you won’t be able to just keep spamming skills... I understand that you don’t like the game because of the story, but there are a gazillion things to do in the game it is very unlikely you won’t find at least one you enjoy...
its funny u talk about not rushing the game but the game is made so u can rush lvls to endgame so fast that u skip a lot of content for a low lvl and wont feel the same when u are high lvl.. just saying.. thats the down side for me of this BDO .. like everything its so fast..for example the sprinting ..man cmon ..thats not realistic sprinting feels like i drink a mov speed potion but i didnt :D it could make sense if i did but no shit honey !! :D
There’s a reason why people tell most others not to start playing this game. I heavily advise you listen to those people I also have played BDO a good amount. Do your research on the gear upgrade system and you'll see why you shouldn't waste your time
there are so many things to do in this game and different ways to progress ... I still don’t get why people are so obsessed to “get to end game” when this is literally a sandbox... there is no “end”...

Sweet guide, cheers!
hey thanks man, liked the video
Does the alt tip work on PS4 too?
ya
Why not bind the skills to the hotbar? What's the difference?
Some skills you need to hot bar js to get buff..
Some skills have buff when you put it on hotbar
thanks bro for the tips!
Regarding alt accounts, are those skills universal throughout all your characters?
Yep, initial learning curve of the game is insanely high
Looks like a divorce simulator
I'm really liking it. I've only been playing for a week. I've hit lvl 40 jist last night. 😃
I’ve been playing for 8 hours just ghost level 32
U can literally hit lvl 56 in 15 minutes, just find someone help to baboost ur lvl
there is fast travel albeit limited and rare in the form of arch map/travelers maps
It's really nice to see you're enjoying bdo. I'm looking forward to your videos down the line^^
You're on the NA server right?
Thanks!
And yes!
@@dottzgaming If you were on EU I would've definetly sent you a friend request :)
I find the majority of people recommending to not play BDO are the people who hasn't played BDO.
also before the central market was implemented the game was pretty tough to progress in, many of those people quit the game back then and are not aware of the changes made to the game that have made the game far more player friendly than it used to be.
So thats why ppl told me to go to growth servers and not like Serendia 2 when i was starting off
I'm new to the game, what class is that? Looks dope
He's using Lahn class
Go look up black star weapon upgrades before buying this game!.. you know what they say ‘if you can’t handle the heat then stay out of BDO!.. ps not for the gentle hearted
About to start up this game, I also play ESO. What game do you like better BDO or ESO?
I want to play but how do you get thus game to not look like a blurry pile of crap?
Buy a computer smh
If your pc cant handle this game it will look like shit ofc
If you have a decent pc, not high end, just decent it will look good
Well I'm just been doing quest right now and slowly grinding so far
Hmm niceone i guess.. gonna try thisone until eso is back :)
I just started this... Thought it was a offline game... Anyway... How do i get into a guild.. Or a party... Anh bonus stuff for playing with others?
If you type in the chat “lf guild” you’ll be drown in people asking you to join theirs 😃 , make sure you join a clan that plays the same way you play (if you like life skills, pvp, wars, solo, party..)
People will tell you this is a solo game and parties are non existent ... truth is , some hooligans took over with the their play style and then kids feel bad for not following the same path as the bad boys in class 😁 lol this game is a looooooot more fun playing with friends, soloing gets ridiculously boring imo...
If you are in a pt of 5, you get 250% xp from the mobs , it is beneficial , Some people just ask for pt in the chat for the area they want to pt and that’s how you find one.
@@starwaveprime7398 thanks man.. Enjoying the game so far
And here i am broke asf
watching tips again after blowing up billions of silver
TH-cam deletes comments not literally u idiot
i just started need to make friends most people ignore me tho sadly thank you for these tips
lava burst looool u play Xbox eu?
People ignoring you is a good sign lol no pvp
Some people are too busy... which server are you on? Try to join a guild , type in the chat that you’re interested in joining a friendly guild , chances are many people are going to want you
Guide/tips on controlling the game could be useful, cuz it's rather different than other MMOs/rpgs I've played.. Kind of confusing.
what does he mean by "in cooldown" when talking about eating food? does he mean post fight?
No. When you eat food, there's a cooldown before you can eat food again.
They should do an update where you can afk grind by setting it up then you can close the game. Instead of having to keep the game on..
By far the best tip: Never play on retail unless you like to dump your valuable lifetime into nothingness. Then again, unless ur a lawyer or a doctor, then you're fine
nice tips
Please don't tell me certain items can only get in pvp if so id hate it
No. You can pretty much at the end of the day buy everything straight from the market...
You sound like sodapoppin talking a bit more aggressively with a different mic. lul Are you soda?
How about dailydoseofinternet sounding like leafyishere
Still don't understand what alts are and wtf nodes do.
Alts are simply other characters that you can have on your account. The are many things to do in bdo so you can have 1 character at 1 place doing something specific (that would save you time of travelling with your main char)
Nodes are mainly to have workers bringing you stuff “for free” (you need to invest contribution points but you can get them back) like pets , you need to feed them often, they like beer.
Whats a node?
A place in your Map where you can interact with the Node Manager, expending some of your Contributions points (and some time, Energy) to own the Node as a spot to work with their resources that it offers.
does this game get any harder
and at any point is there any Dungeons.
there are no dungeons currently but the endgame has huge boss fights (Pearl abyss said they will add dungeons still in 2021)
literally have 4 hours in this game now pretty much nothing but it has been the most hard/confusing 4 hours in any game i have played this game is fr so freaking hard
Yeah bdo does take some time to get used to for sure. Very different game
@@dottzgaming well today i have alot of free time so I will grind the mainquest line 😂
Definitely recommend!
@@dottzgaming another real fast question do I need to understand the mainquest line like the lore or can I just skip through it 🤔
Nah you can skip all the dialogue If u want
11 : Just calm down . neatly your stuffs , goods and things from your Inventory, Storage first . Also, make more char, sharing is power of family system .
What does Alt mean???
Alternate character. This is a common practice in MMOs to create and level up multiple ALTernate characters and have them specialize in crafting to create items your 'Main' needs. Also good for trying out different classes.
esc + power button?? really? im scared to do that uuhhh i need proof
Can people kill npcs or your workers while they're doing their jobs?
I love this channel 🙂
this game have tap target ?
It does not
Nope...pure 100% action combat. Like "devil may cry" type combat
I'll buy the game today! But... What's Alts?
Different characters on your account that you can use for doing different things in bdo
failing accessories enhancement is worst than a heart break. F
IV is easy enough.. IV ogre is no joke!.. imagine going for V accs.. before enhancements 🌹after enhancements 🥀.. 😂
@Redeemed thank you! 😅
@Redeemed hehe been following for a long time and he has amazing vids! , I’m a returning player I already have high lvl char 😊 it’s just nice to see that there are people with more in their mind than just grinding 😃 that’s why I liked your comment because it is very discouraging as a new player to read things like “it’s just grind” “it’s a solo game” “there’s nothing to do” ... Glad I’m over that period 😅
@Redeemed and I think I can say I’ve tried to do almost everything he does (bdo Jesus) 😅 lots of fun
This is my second attempt of trying the game but I am still lost :)
I understand that you don’t like the game because of the story, but there are a gazillion things to do in the game it is very unlikely you won’t find at least one you enjoy...
pc specs?
dottzgaming.com/blog/pc-setup-for-gaming-streaming-and-youtube/
its funny u talk about not rushing the game but the game is made so u can rush lvls to endgame so fast that u skip a lot of content for a low lvl and wont feel the same when u are high lvl.. just saying.. thats the down side for me of this BDO .. like everything its so fast..for example the sprinting ..man cmon ..thats not realistic sprinting feels like i drink a mov speed potion but i didnt :D it could make sense if i did but no shit honey !! :D
This game is basically swtor
I tried to join a guild and I was treated like dog shit
After I saw how cancerous the community was I quit
I’m gonna start playing again tomorrow
Well... there are many toxic people , but there are many friendly players it’s just the hooligans make a lot of noice...
There’s a reason why people tell most others not to start playing this game. I heavily advise you listen to those people
I also have played BDO a good amount. Do your research on the gear upgrade system and you'll see why you shouldn't waste your time
Or money 😂
there are so many things to do in this game and different ways to progress ... I still don’t get why people are so obsessed to “get to end game” when this is literally a sandbox... there is no “end”...
