    Love these 100 mile updates. I agree, the medial post on the Tempus is the only downside but it’s a great long run shoe anyway.
    I have found the guide 15 great for tempo runs or sprints.

    Ah, back to the great intro music. Pumps me up, and it makes Old Man Van look like a young man running. I have the Tempus and have hit 75 miles in them. No issues for me, and they feel better with each run. They work out nicely in my 3 shoe rotation which includes the Endorphin Speed 2 and Endorphin Pro 3. Saucony is killing it for me.

    A few weeks ago I commented on your tempus video stating that my arch was hurting for days after my first run with them. You responded saying it would probably go away. It did! Now it’s my favorite training shoe! I just did 11 miles today and I feel great! Maybe I’ll try the guide 15 too. Thanks!

    I use both shoes. I find the Guide 15 very stable for the tempo-run, just a little noisy. For the REPS I use the Tempus, really comfortable and light footed at the end of the workout. I'm preparing for the Milan marathon and I think Tempus will accompany me. I also feel discomfort under the arch of my foot, the left one.
    I will buy them again. Comfortable, responsive and fast. Sorry for my english very italian 😂

    Tried both the Guide 15 and Tempus. Went with Tempus. Was really pleasant after 15miles (bought a week ago). Thinking of getting the guide after watching your video, which is going for US$95. Pity that colorways are limited for wide feet runners.😢

    I tried in the Tempus but did not buy it due to that high medial post feeling under my left arch. That arch is flat and the Tempus would have certainly caused pain. Hope they reduce that in future iterations and I will try it on again. Thanks for the update on the shoes and I would say spot on!

    Thank you for the review. I am due for a new pair of running shoes and have been looking for one. The choices came down to Tempus and Hoka Arahi (my current pair) and have been waiting for the new models. I saw this review and another one on the new Guide 16 which you mentioned has minor differences. Out of curiosity, I search for the Guide 15 prices and found that I could get one at 50+% discount from you know who which is too good to pass up. Thus I ust bought a pair, and this is my first Saucony. Eventually, I will graduate up to the Tempus since you gave it a very good convincing review.

    The arch support of Tempus also bothered me at the beginning. So I put a thin Superfeet running insole in it and it feels much better. However, after running with it for a few months, I don't feel the arch that much, even I switched back to the original insole. Maybe the foam has been adapting to my feet, maybe because I tried to correct my running form from heel strike to midfoot strike.

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Blue!...I do think the arch settles in over time in the Tempus in my personal experience. I don't notice it nearly as much now, but the cushioning and support hasn't changed much.

    Great review as always. Now that you've had more time with the Guide 16 and found it more versatile/softer than the 15, which would you prefer the Guide 16 or Tempus? I am between these two shoes as my daily trainer/long run shoe with either the Speed 3 or Pro 3 as my tempo shoe. I've tried 2 runs with the Tempus and love the ride but find the arch extremely aggressive in poking up at my arch which is making me look at the Guide 16 but I just need to know that they can go up to 18 miles down the line. TIA!

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the comments!...I have a place for both of these shoes in my rotation for different use cases. I love the Guide 16 for days when I need more structure, and it's more comfortable than the 15, but not sure if I would use it as an easy day 15+ mile shoe as it's still has some firmness. The Tempus, though, would be my choice if I could only purchase one. The arch has settled a bit, so not a deal breaker.

    That's a great review, thank you. I've just updated my shoes as there was a great sale. I bought the Speed 2 for $68, and love it, but thought I needed a more stable shoe for my longer runs. I have very mild pronation and saw the Tempus for $86, so went for it. I do want to use the Tempus for some light off-road running as well, such as canal paths and woodland paths but am concerned about the wear. I have shoe goo; do you just smear a little over the surface at the back?

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's an AWESOME price for the Tempus!...As for wear, they're not terrible, but Shoe Goo definitely can help. I only use it once an area of the outsole starts to wear significantly. I actually use painters tape to create a frame around the outside of the sole where the wear is to the level of the original outsole height, and then fill in the frame with Shoe Goo to the original outsole level. Once it sets, I remove the tape.

    I have flat feet and was looking for a pair for everyday walking (and maybe some running). I don’t plan to get more than one pair. I used Mizuno wave inspire 13 for 4 years now and they feel nice (mostly everyday walking) but the front outsole started to wear off recently. I read you said Tempus isn’t preferable for everyday walking. I’m looking for under $160 and I think you gave high rating for Guide 15, 16, Kayano 28, 30. (I could just find a deal for Guide 15 @$100). I dropped Arahi 6 as you mentioned Hoka is less durable. Which one would you recommend?

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Guide 15 and 16 would be excellent choices as the midsole and outsole are extremely durable. They are firmer than the Gel-Kayano series, and any of those shoes would would also work if you need more cushioning.

I’m a neutral runner but have been hearing some good stuff about the Tempus - I’m looking for a good comfortable, well cushioned shoe for my easy + long runs ( perhaps throw some marathon pace/tempos during my long runs).

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Mo!...Although I haven't tried the Triumph 20, everything I've heard and read points to it being a great shoe for your use! It's under 10 oz, and has great cushioning. Some have said it can handle up to moderate paces, but wouldn't be the best option. The Tempus can handle long distances but is best suited for uptempo paces. Personally, I would have both in my rotation. If I could only choose one, the Tempus is the most versatile.

    Hi Van, well I’m now the proud owner of both of these pairs. Guide 15 are my go to running shoes. However, the tempus are still in the box at the moment. I’ve bought them in the same size as the guide 15s, but the Tempus feel more narrow. Did you find this at all? As I didn’t not want to commit to them if they are going to cause problems

    • @oldmanvanrunning

      Hey Dyingfly!...The Tempus is slightly narrower in the midfoot and toe box, but the upper is pliable enough that I didn't have any issues. For me, they loosened up a bit as they broke in. • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Eric! Thanks for checking out my video!....Of these three shoes, the Guide 15 has the most support and is the most durable, but is somewhat firm. I wouldn't recommend the Tempus as a daily standing/walking shoe. As for the Clifton 8, it is inherently stable and well-cushioned, but not a stability shoe. Also, Hokas are not known for durability....If max-cushioning and moderate stability is a need, another option would be the ASICS Gel-Kayano 29. If you're ok with a bit firmer (not hard, just firmer) midsole, the Guide 15 will last a very long time....One other option from Hoka would be the Arahi 6.
