    For me Tempus still is my go-to shoes also my marathon race day shoes .

    • @oldmanvanrunning

      Definitely the most versatile stability shoe out there 👌

    Great video. I recall that even neutral runners can still use a stability shoe. Thoughts? Thanks

      Thanks! 👍🏻 Glad you liked the video!...You are especially correct with current stability offerings. Stability elements are much more subtle than in the past...More guidance vs control.

    what are your thoughts on using the Guide for shorter runs/more daily training and the Tempus for those longer sessions/runs

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think that could be a viable option. Although the Tempus isn't max cushioned, there is enough there to do the job. For me, the Tempus is a great up-tempo option for all distances.

      @teeramate ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tempus has a nicer toe box compare to Ride / Guide , not a roomy toe box but just wider than regular .

    Thanks for the review. What your opinion, is it still good stability shoes for overpronation?

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Yi! Thanks for the comment and question 👍 The Guide 16 is definitely still an excellent stability shoe for over-pronation. 👍

    How do you compare it to the Kayano 30?

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for the question! The K30 is heavier, more cushioned, and better suited for long runs. In my rotation I am reaching for the K30 for my Sunday long runs, but for mid-week regular paced runs, I reach for the Guide 16. Outside of cushioning, I find the Guide 16 more comfortable.

    • @jollyroger1009
      @jollyroger1009 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok interesting. I'm using the Kayano 30 (enjoying it!) and have heard of but not tried the Guide. Could be an interesting one to look at sometime. Thanks for the reply!

    I stand on my feet all day for work and wonder if you think this would be good for that? I don’t like very mushy running shoes as they make my foot ache after a few hours😢 I may pick a pair up unless you have a better idea

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Based on your comments, this may be a good option for you. I would recommend trying them on first if you can, however.

    Hi Van, I've been using the Guide 16 for marathon training and love the support. But as you noted, it starts feeling a little firm on the really long runs. What do you recommend for a shoe that provides the same degree of stability and support with a little more protective cushioning for the really long stuff?

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for the question! A very stable option could be the New Balance Vongo V5 or even the Hoka Arahi 6. Neither are what I would classify as plush, but they are more cushioned than the Guide 16. Another more cushioned option could be the ASICS Gel-Kayano 30, just beware of hotspots. Otherwise a great shoe!

      @@oldmanvanrunningAre Guide 16 narrow in toe area? I'm thinking if I should order Wide version online or standard width?

    I have to compete a 25 km running test which I have to complete in 4 hrs. Moreover, one of my foot is flat. What do you suggest??.. Is Saucony guide 16 a good choice?

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the question! 👋 The Guide 16 could be a good option, however it's on the firmer side. It's very stable, great support, and has adequate cushioning, but it really comes down to whether it is cushioned enough for you.

    Which one you will recommend guide 16 or tempus? Since tempus hasn't new model, i really enjoy speed 3 for all arounder

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Tempus over the Guide if I need the most versatile shoe. Guide is a bit more stable.

      The upper is definitely improved in the 16 vs the 15

      Just comes in "Regular" and "Wide" widths. Not sure if the "Wide" version aligns with 2E.

    100 km ultra , tempus or guide ?

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For me, it would be the Tempus or another option. The Guide doesn't have enough cushioning for an Ultra in my opinion
