AN AMAZING movie! This movie was perfection!!!!!!!!!! It DEEPLY affected that 14 year old boy I was!!!!!!! I loved it so much that I stayed until the very last note of music was played in the ending credits. I'll never forget the moment when "Next Year Superman II" came on the screen!!!!!!!!!!!!! The movie and music were so amazing that I couldn't wait to go out and buy the soundtrack! I played it to death and memorized every note!!!!!!!!

Watching these credits takes me back to my first theatrical screening. I didn’t want to leave and just hoped that I could stay in the state of bliss this movie brought to me forever. I eventually had to convince myself to get back out into the world and share the sensibility I gained watching this movie… also my mom was waiting in the parking lot to pick me up. She was wondering where I was since everyone else left once the credits started. She thought it was really sweet how much this movie meant to me.

As a little kid this was the only "long" end credits I would sit thru. Also the ones for Empire Strikes Back.

I remember seeing on the big screen back in 78 and I was glued to the final end of the credits and saw “SUPERMAN ll NEXT YEAR” I was like holy cow PART2. I was ecstatic knowing there was going to be another film.

I sat there too in the audience watching In 70MM / 6th Track Dolby Stereo 10pm show ( Mann’s Fox Covina Cinemas) opening night with my family until the very end of the credits had the same reaction knowing there and then that a sequel was coming soon. My 12 year old self did not sleep because of the excitement that night. The 3 hour wait (All day showings sold out) in long, long, long line outside before the screening was way totally worth it too! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

I remember back in the 80s when ABC aired this movie for the first, it was a super big ratings hit for them. ABC also edited back in scenes that were removed from the original picture it was great.

I wish that later released would have left the "Next Year: Superman II" credit in place. Superman II (Lester cut) still has "Coming Soon: Superman III".
There also a small little detail on the Superman III credits. On the VHS the starfield continues for a few seconds after the "Distributed by Warner Bros." credit disappears. But on all later releases, including the ABC-TV extended version the film ends while the "Distributed by Warner Bros." credit is still on screen.

@@cubdukat He didn't get himself fired! He was fired because he was spending money on making TWO movies at the same time, and the Salkinds were too damned cheap to be okay with THE BARGAIN Richard Donner was giving them! Superman II would have been out "next year" had they not fired Donner and had to reshoot the most of what Donner filmed for the movie.

One of the people in the cast for Superman-The Movie showed on the end credits who portrayed the agent at a golf course, though the scene showing the agent at the golf course wasn't shown in the film. It's on the extended version that wouldn't be shown in theaters, only on commercial tv, if it were allowed again.

I watched this vid to check something I read online not long ago. I read that Chris Reeve also had a small voice part in this film, as the air traffic controller that the chopper pilot talks to just before the accident. I wanted to see if Chris received a credit for that, but didn't see squat. Was he not credited for that bc he was a fresh face at the time or something? Or did they not credit small voice parts back then?

Hi Samuel. Great channel you have here. I've always loved Superman as a kid, too. I'm now 49, & whenever I think back to my favorite episodes of Superman in all forms, I liked them all. The original cartoon versions were great, as well as the George Reeves' episodes, Christopher Reeve movies, as well as the Dean Cain TV Series episodes too.
Incase you're not as familiar with these Superman Episodes that I mentioned, here's a few weblinks re some history on each. From right off of youtube here:
1.) George Reeves (The Original Superman) Episodes: th-cam.com/video/n5y-XCQgOIk/w-d-xo.html
    Some history about him: th-cam.com/video/ppVc339zi3g/w-d-xo.html

    2.) Christopher Reeve (The New Superman 1970s & 1980s):

Honestly, Samuel, each & every one of these 3 great actors were amazing at playing Superman. I really enjoyed them all. Mind you, Since I'm born in the 70s, I actually grew up with Christopher Reeve as Superman on tv. Therefore, he was my 1st & has been my longest favorite of them. And when Dean Cain took on that role the year I turned 18, & loved his newer modern style version of playing Superman. He was really great at that role. It's 1 of his best roles you'll ever see him play.
For me, Christopher Reeve was my #1 favorite because that's who I grew up watching in movies as Superman.
If I remember correctly, I think I was in my 20s before I ever got to see an actual episode of the Original Superman, George Reeves. I had always heard of him as a kid but, his episodes were no longer on tv when I was growing up. Only Christopher Reeve was. George did a great job & as I've always heard anyone like my Dad, etc... say that George Reeves was, is, & always be Superman to them. Dad said he was great at playing that role.
Hopefully, the links above will help you some in both your knowledge of & enjoyment in watching each of the 3 pros who have played SUPERMAN over the years. These all deserve to have these roles in the Hall Of Fame as the best movies, tv series, & actors who played them.
Take care & all the best you. From here in Iroquois Falls, Ontario, Canada :)

It was probably the firing of Richard Donner that delayed the movie. If they let him finish shooting Superman II instead of having Richard Lester do all those reshoots, then it would’ve been on time.
