This movie was so perfect, that I absolutely loved when Lois and superman we're together, yet I still felt bad for Richard, because you grow to love his character as well. The casting Director did a phenomenal job.
Yeah damn Singer is right he even blamed Brandon for the movie not doing so well excuse us Mr. Singer but Brandon wasn't given a lot to work with & it wasn't his fault you Singer are to blame for that. Just like your shitty casting of Kate Bosworth as Lois you should've cast Parker Posey instead.
Check out the TH-cam Oliver Harper review about Supman Returns he stated that said Singer had reasons why the movie didn't do so well & he felt Brandon was one of them but Brandon wasn't the issue I too thought he did a great job. He no doubt tried to emulate some of Chris Reeves performances into his Superman what Singer should've paid attention to was his choice of casting Lois Lane Kate was a bad choice. The wig she wore was awful her forehead looked huge, she acted like a lawyer rather than a reporter, she wasn't sassy, feisty, fiery, or spunky & she acted like a real bitch especially where Clark was concerned. She never talked about Clark for 5 years the only one that gave a damn was Jimmy, then her writing "Why the World Didn't need Superman" was done out of spite because he left her. I'm sure people watching the movie made it sound like he left while she was pregnant "Hey!" he didn't know she was pregnant & she made plans to tell him but he had vanished so to vent out her anger years later she wrote an article about why the world didn't need him & she won a Pulitzer for it? Some people were probably giving her the evil eye but Singer had himself & the writers to blame for the movie not doing as well as he hoped he didn't give his actors anything to work with. And the setting you can't tell if it looks like it was cross between the 1940s & modern times "Um which is it Singer?"
This scene just makes me cry...... It happens every time I view it....... "I hear everything....." ....."every day I hear people crying for one...." (A Saviour). It gets to me something fierce!
Jason Ceaser Because it’s perfect for him. It’s why we idolize a fictional character as if he were real. He makes us want to be better. This scene emphasizes that like no other
Underrated movie. I love anything DC and have seen every Superman movie ever made. Brandon nails it. It's a shame they couldn't give him another real shot.
this movie sucks. It's just that all its superman scenes are incredible. The problem is that the movie is full of scenes that don't feature superman, and for some reason they managed to fuck up literally all of them. If you watch clips of this movie on youtube it seems great. It's when you watch the whole thing that it leaves a bitter taste in your mouth.
@@Linkfanoftheyear As much as I want to disagree, unfortunately you are right. The scenes with superman are phenomenal and almost set the movie above. John Ottman nailed the adaptation of John Williams’ original music and also created an original music that really feels like a Superman movie not just an action flick. Every piece of music created for this movie is a real Superman sound. Very nice! I hope the new composer for James Gunn’s Superman doesn’t disappoint.
There is a grief in this movie that can't be denied. He knew Krypton had exploded but returning to it's corpse would have to hit him hard. "it was a graveyard" - he knows for certain, now, that he is the last of his kind. (there is no Kara El in this version) His romance with Lois is over, she belongs to another. His library of crystals, including, all he had left of his father's voice is gone, perhaps forever. He's so terribly isolated. Yet, he has his son... at the very end, the blood line of Krypton is carried on... by a small boy. This is my favorite Superman movie.
Superman Returns was underrated. This was a beautiful scene and Brandon Routh definitely was a good Superman and Clark Kent. Kate Bosworth was a decent Lois and did the best she could with what she was given. Glad Brandon got given another chance to play Superman, but there was so much they could have done after this film. The music was beautiful in this scene!
This scene is one of my favorites in the movie, the music is beautiful and the part at 3:50 where Lois and Superman almost kissed is romantic and sad at the same time.

I love this scene. The music especially, where it hints at and then finally builds to the original rornatic theme. I love Kate Bosworth, but for me she was miscast. For something that was a continuation of the Donner/Reeve films, she wasn't reminiscent or even building on Margot Kidder's Lois Lane.
I know I'm in the minority but in my humble opinion this was one of the BEST Superman films. Not a lot of bang, pow, smash, but a Superman film for grown up ADULTS who can relate to these feelings, a long-lost love who's in the past, mixed with the superhero fantasy element. It's a shame this cast, this story, wasn't allowed to carry on. Just another case of DC shooting themselves in the foot yet again. It never, ever fails.
Grh7 britton. I share every word of your comment. I tell you : other case of DC shooting themselves in the foot once again : JAMES GUNN, the new DC movies director DUMPED Rob pattison for upcoming BATMAN movies, after it has grossed 750 MILLIONS around the world!! Lois: "The world doesn't need a savior... and neither do I." Superman: "You needed one on that airliner bitch! If not for me, you'd be hamburger!" LOL!!
I’m one of the few that loved this movie. Routh channeled Reeve. Which is what I was hoping that he would do. The Richard Donner presence was felt all over this film. It had heart, and emotional substance. Unlike the Zack Snyder films. This film deserved a sequel IMHO. Instead we got the digital mess that was Man of Steel. God bless Christopher Reeve. We miss you.
It's never the powers that were the reason Lois loved Superman, It's what he stood for that greatly admired. Even without his powers, Clark would've spared no effort to save as much as he can. The powers never defined Superman, it's the man that is really is Superman.
I wondered about this but that's actually not true from my search. In most versions, Lois loved Superman before knowing he was Clark Kent. She didn't love Clark because he was a dorky, bumbling, unconfident guy. So yes, I would say she loved Superman mostly because of his abilities.
Whether you prefer Brandon Routh or Henry Cavill's take on the character one thing is pretty clear with how they were both basically forced out of the role, WB really doesn't know what do with Superman. Both Brandon and Henry were passionate about the role and turned in fantastic interpretations of Superman. Brandon's was an awesome Sliver Age/Post Crisis Superman while Henry Cavill was perfect for the New 52 type of Superman. Yet neither of them got the chance to really reach the full potential of the role because for reason when it comes to Superman WB just gets really skittish.
I hope James Gunn captures the good aspects of this film and implements them in his movie. I loved Henry Cavill but we mostly saw him fighting his demons and being confused about his place. This Superman feels like he brings hope and just seems wise, when he told the passengers on the plane how “flying is still the safest way to travel” he seems like someone you would listen to and take advice from.
Loved this sequence. I love how the music evokes the original love theme of Can You Read My Mind. Brandon Routh was excellent as Superman. I think the movie tried maybe a bit too hard to mimic the feel of the original movies; it didn't have to - just let it evolve on its own. Still, I would have loved to have seen a sequel (or two).
It’s not better, just different. If you don’t watch MoS looking for an homage to Christopher Reeve, and look at it for what it is (a retelling of the Superman story, written for the ADD generation), you’ll enjoy it much better. Now, I LOVE Brandon as Superman, but everything about this Lois, from her storyline to the way the actress portrayed her, is not good. She is what ruins this movie for me.
I agree it got superman’s character right and shows how he’s always meant to be a symbol and a beacon of hope. He’s not meant to be a murderer or some Jesus figure like in man of steel and Batman v superman they have improved with superman though they didn’t make him kill anyone in the Snyder cut but he’s way too intimidating for superman when he’s supposed to be friendly and make the atmosphere feel safe when your around him.
Excluding the fact that Kate Bosworth looked nothing like Margot Kidder's Lois from the Reeve films (both in appearance AND age (their fault for setting this movie in the same universe)), she just doesn't really capture Lois at all. She's not fiesty enough and her line delivery feels like she's never giving her all. The only things she remotely gets right is her love for Superman (even if she's pissed off at him for leaving) and that she'd be more focused on writing about that blackout than anything else.
"I hear everything. You wrote that the world doesn't need a saviour, but everyday I hear people crying for one." Very strong and touching line, let Brandon Routh be superman again.

@@catspaw3092 And now we know certain things about Singer. Routh did what he could with what he was given, worked hard physically and academically.
@@Euripides_Panz He sure did Brandon did the best he could.
ROMANTIC SCENE OF SUPERMAN RETURNS MOVIE
the way Lois was looking at him at 1:11, tells us everything we need to know about where her heart lies, with Superman.
Like we didn't know this already. Superman/Clark is the only man she could ever really love.
This scene emphasizes that like no other
agree
Reference to Jesus Christ ❤️
Mudic is also loving
Underrated movie. I love anything DC and have seen every Superman movie ever made. Brandon nails it. It's a shame they couldn't give him another real shot.
"I'm always around" I use that line all the time still to this day. Love the music and shot right after he says that and flies away.
This movie had moments of perfection. This is one of them.
Wtf is wrong with people..this movie is amazing.
this movie sucks.
I completely agree - love it
Christopher Rodgers yeah I love it 😊
@@Linkfanoftheyear As much as I want to disagree, unfortunately you are right. The scenes with superman are phenomenal and almost set the movie above. Thats why I have all of the superman scenes saved. In a way I am not bothered with the failure of the non superman scenes as the movie delivered what I would have hoped for, Justice to the superman scenes
Christopher Rodgers I grew up with this movie, every time I hear this music anywhere until I die I will cry cause this music is my everything!
Brandon Routh was a great Superman. So much resemblance to Reeve. The voice, the face,
4:25 I love the moment when he rises off the rooftop and then when he's clear of her, he focuses upward and really starts to move... whoosh! You can hear his cape! That movement just seems... well, "realistic" to me. God, I wish I could fly.
i had the same thoughts- the way his flying was filmed was spectacular and felt so real. the sound effects are perfect
@@ranchump Yes, it was very realistic, and they didn't overdo the sound effects. It was perfect.
I will never understand why this film was so underrated. Superman Returns is better than any of the reboots which came later.
Hollywood. This was by far the perfect sequel to Reeve’s Superman. Why did they have to ruin it with those awful reboots.
Especially when the Superman Returns sequels were going to be more action packed.
@@guyhaskins3829 I also heard a rumor that Nolan's batman was going to show up or something like that.
This movie was so underrated it was heartbreaking when people made jokes about it. Brandon was the perfect pick to continue Christopher Reeves legacy
Excellent points
For me the beautiful music is the star of this movie which I absolutely love as I do every superman movie
Filling in for Christopher Reeve is beyond hard. Props to Brandon
I liked this scene. It brought so much depth of feeling
This scene is one of my favorites in the movie, the music is beautiful and the part at 3:50 where Lois and Superman almost kissed is romantic and sad at the same time.
“I forgot how warm you are” - this really gets to me every time I watch this, tears stream down my face 😪❤️
It’s all of the solar energy stored up in his body.
@@jerodbrown7339 ah I see u are cultured man👍
@@GREG_Khar-NÜ-Metalhead2000 That comment was not really necessary here. I think he was being serious. Superman's body is different than humans (duh!) and it's full of energy.
LEAN OVER 40 POR MEN.
You are an AMAZING HUMAN BEING. Thanks GOD people like you really EXIST. Sincerely It's a true JOY to find you. In this World and its HORRORS that's a miracle.
I wish you the BEST of LUCK ever!!
Take care.
I love his balance between lonely alien and optimistic human
It's why this is the best film Superman.
This is easily the most beautiful scene that I have watched in any superhero movie. Wow.
I come back and watch this scene all the time... so romantic and American-esque...
Superman Returns nailed the right feeling that a Superman movie should be like. Zack Snyders was too dark and James Gun's looks to be goofy.
This Superman made me fall in love with Superman
The music is great.
its called a score but yes it is good
@@katk426 And a score is another term for music 🤷
@Kladian Actually, never was big on music as so many in my life are. Even when traveling alone, no damn music playing in my car.
*Superman Returns has a sequel*
Can't believe I'd say this but.. thank you CW. I'm sure I'm not the only one who wanted this Superman to *..Return*
“So will I see you around?” “I’m always around!”
Superman was savage for flying Lois across her house in front of Richard’s plane after she bragged about Richard having a plane and taking her up all the time 🤣 …
I know right,Batman would be so proud!😂😂
"I am always around." I just wish he would come back as Superman again in cinema release. He's the worthy successor to Christopher Reeve.
At 0:30 Listen as the music starts you hear the subdued rattling of the Daily Planet's globe. Does anyone else find this moving? Amazing sound direction.
The world needs Superman. This scene is so beautiful I love it.
This movie was so Underrated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From 2:37 I just noticed a small snippet of the original theme. I know it plays out at the end but still.
I love how gentle Superman is in this scene. He has to be so careful not to hurt her. In constant control of his powers. A master of self control.
Are they MENTALLY RETARDED ?
I wish you the BEST of LUCK ever!!
Take care.
In every Superman movie, I waited for them to be together with their song "Can You read my mind". So touching.
This is just so romantic.
Lois: "The world doesn't need a savior... and neither do I."
Superman: "You needed one on that airliner bitch! If not for me, you'd be hamburger!" LOL!!
😂😂😂👏👏 why doesn't this have more likes
That's a really good point I never thought about. Very well said!
I wondered about this but that's actually not true from my search. In most versions, Lois loved Superman before knowing he was Clark Kent. She didn't love Clark because he was a dorky, bumbling, unconfident guy. So yes, I would say she loved Superman mostly because of his abilities.
@@Ghostrider-ul7xn Well I never mentioned and neither have they.
@@coletrain583 you did say Lois loved Superman not for the powers but for what he stood for. I was pointing out that it was incorrect
not true. she loves him for power. women love power and wealth.
I love the colours of this film. It's so warm.
I didn’t care about Superman as a character until this movie, I had a dream about this scene it was so powerful
This movie was really good no matter the critics said about it Brandon Roth was a great superman !
I just love this song, especially at the time 3:00 onward with the fly up with Lois, parallel with a building. Absolutely beautiful.
Superman returns is the purest of all the Superman movies. It lifts me up
Whether you prefer Brandon Routh or Henry Cavill's take on the character one thing is pretty clear with how they were both basically forced out of the role, WB really doesn't know what do with Superman.
The flying sequences in Superman Returns were exquisite. And "Can you read my mind" without those sappy lyrics was a thing of beauty.
Better scene than anything dc has done since. Gorgeous, beautifull scene!
what i like about this movie is the heart of it and him saying "I'M ALWAYS AROUND" hits me everytime.
Wonderful story and graphics..powerful elegant Appearances of Superman.
Agree
What a true love 🤍 Superman
Say what you will about Bryan Singer as a person or Lex Luthor's silly plan, but, Jesus, this entire sequence is achingly beautiful.
Superman: "You wrote that the world doesn't need a savior but everyday I here people crying for one"
This scene perfectly encapsulates the character of Superman 🙌🏻
Loved this sequence. I love how the music evokes the original love theme of Can You Read My Mind. Brandon Routh was excellent as Superman. I think the movie tried maybe a bit too hard to mimic the feel of the original movies; it didn't have to - just let it evolve on its own. Still, I would have loved to have seen a sequel (or two).
It wasn't a perfect movie, but a heck of a lot better than Man of Steele...
Your so stupid
@@mysteriousvigilante You're*
It’s not better, just different. If you don’t watch MoS looking for an homage to Christopher Reeve, and look at it for what it is (a retelling of the Superman story, written for the ADD generation), you’ll enjoy it much better. Now, I LOVE Brandon as Superman, but everything about this Lois, from her storyline to the way the actress portrayed her, is not good. She is what ruins this movie for me.
Nah👎👎👎. Man of Steel is better
Singers best film by a country mile. A great Superman movie and massively under rated imo.
I loved this movie, totally underrated, Brandon Routh is perfect.
This scene was peaceful
I’d say Brandon nailed Superman spot on!! Better than man of steel
3:00 Thank you, John Williams and John Ottman. The most beautiful line in a superhero theme ever
The feels, the beautiful shots and music 💖✨👏👏👏
This is a clear painful reminder of thoes that give ur heart to someone that don't give u theirs, I think must of us been there
Excluding the fact that Kate Bosworth looked nothing like Margot Kidder's Lois from the Reeve films (both in appearance AND age (their fault for setting this movie in the same universe)), she just doesn't really capture Lois at all. She's not fiesty enough and her line delivery feels like she's never giving her all.
The only things she remotely gets right is her love for Superman (even if she's pissed off at him for leaving) and that she'd be more focused on writing about that blackout than anything else.
Such a perfect scene (if only Lois wasn't MARRIED or involved with someone else. Still, the concept was right)
Why is Superman always so freaking hot 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵
I think Christopher Reeve would approve of this scene.
Out of all the superman movies the first one with Christopher reeve is the most popular
