We are saved by grace and have already been Judged.
We who are after the crucifixion, will not face Judgement.
Those prior to the crucifixion, will be judged by the law.
So we will be in Heaven with Jesus. Not asleep.
The first will be last and the last will be first.

when we are alive we are conscious to time. when we are dead we are no longer bound to time. While our our bodies are still transitioning through the law of time, our spirits are are not held to that law and are present with the Lord.

Ecclesiastes 9:5 says the dead know nothing in 1st Thessalonians 4 Paul likens death to sleep because that’s exactly what he is saying death is like sleep. 2 Corinthians 5 to be absent with the body and present with the Lord will happen at the resurrection we will be with the Lord here on earth. The Kingdom of Heaven is coming to earth. John 3:13 literally says no man have ascended to Heaven accept he that came down from Heaven. So that means what it literally says all the people that had died up until that point and even now are sleep waiting on the resurrection 1st or maybe Second.

@@adhi1650 Peace friend that isn’t talking about anyone being in heaven the chapter is talking about the chastisement of God and enduring the writer gives you a analogy of what took place in the Old Testament in Exodus 19 when God came to Israel and gave them the law which would be Mt. Sinai which is symbolic of the old covenant which at the end of it was death and Jesus coming and shedding his blood which is the blood that signifies the new convenient being represented by Mt. Zion or Sion which at the end of it is life. By Jesus shedding his blood we have a way back to the Kingdom of Heaven and ever lasting life but not when you die it’s appointment time. That’s why in Hebrews 11 it list all those ppl From Abraham, Moses, Gideon, Samson,
David and many more and at the very end in Hebrews 11:39-40 says they obtained a good report but died and did not receive the promise. Then it goes on to say they will not be made perfect without us because the reward of everlasting life is coming when Jesus when he returns. 1st Corinthians 15:20-23 talks about Christ being raised from the dead and those are Christ being raised from the dead at his coming. Revelation 20 talks about the two resurrections and after the second resurrection at that point will ppl inhabit the kingdom of Heaven that’s why in revelation 21 John sees that kingdom coming to earth out of the clouds. Nobody has everlasting life at the moment all that are dead are simply sleep waiting on the resurrection. Revelation 22:12-13 the reward of everlasting life is with Jesus and he will give when he comes. I hope this helps

Paul’s focus is on the resurrection. I do not see a direct connection of the spirit going to HEAVEN. John 3:13 seems problematic.
I tell you, today in paradise Or I tell you (this day) today.,,
    No commas in original Greek.
Jesus did not go to Heaven upon his death. He descendent into Sheol, In fact, Heaven was not until after his Ascension.
    Was Sheol Paradise? Or
was it the message that Jesus was telling the criminal THAT day, that the criminal would be raised incorruptible to be in the restored Paradise? Clear textually. A system of belief colors our conclusions.
Also, Paul say to be absent from the body AND to be present w the Lord. Slight change in sentence structure allows for more interpretive options.
I am not a soul sleep advocate. But intermediate State is not the paradise Yeshua refers to. So I’m non committal on one second after last heart beat.
Argument points to my position is encouraged.

Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. For we walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him.
And Paul elsewhere stated that leaving this body would mean to be with Christ (Who is in heaven right now)
      Philippians 1:19-26
For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labor; yet what I shall choose I cannot tell. For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. Nevertheless to remain in the flesh is more needful for you. And being confident of this, I know that I shall remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy of faith, that your rejoicing for me may be more abundant in Jesus Christ by my coming to you again.

There is also the story Jesus told of the rich man and Lazarus. This was not a parable. There was consciousness, knowledge of their lives, knowing who Abraham and Lazarus was. Be careful of non-confessional christians.

Assumptions are made to suggest that present with the Lord must be location in Heaven. John 3:13 is problematic. I have not heard a good argument that stated contrary to the plain reading of John 3:13.
Our great hope is the Resurrection. When we are made alive in Christ. Abrahams Bosom in Sheol is perhaps our fate after last heart best. Not a big fan of Greek thought centuries after NT In its Hebrew worldview, that forced new thought categories foreign to the NT writers.
      Thoughts?

@@bradbrown2168 I think it is a strong case is to be made for when Paul says "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord". The same context he speaks of being torn between living and dying because in death he would have something he didnt in life. He also spoke of "someone he knew" entering the 3rd heaven and knew things that couldn't be uttered. I personally feel this was him speaking of his personal experience after a stoning or other attempt to take his life.
I also think that to be a human being, we have a physical body and a rational soul. Those characteristics are what make us human. If the body is destroyed, what happens to the soul? My thoughts are that the soul doesn't die, but are present with God. Much like the martyrs under the altar crying out in Revelation.
Lastly, I feel as if the Son of Man being presented before the Ancient of Days was a vision between the crucifixion and the resurrection, though I could be wrong. Christ was 100% God, 100% man. So in death, God Himself didn't die. Flesh was buried, but God is eternal.

I would trust the Lord before man. Jesus said no one has gone to heaven. Also this phrase was repeated several times those who come first will be last and those that come last will be first. Or something like that. I think we sleep, but it will be almost instant in our eyes. Thinking of sleeping today and you don't remember dreaming. Basically asleep then awake and hours have gone by. Also see revelation where they talk about 1000 years of peace, then war, and lastly the remaining people will be resurrected to be judged. God is God of the living not dead. When Jesus refers to the spirit being with me is our connection via the holy trinity in life and the resurrection. Read the bible and decide for yourself. We all know you can't even trust the pope anymore. Jesus warned us of these leaders of faith. He has saved a special place for them ;). This is my belief and interpretation. God bless. Oh PS Jesus said those that believe will be like Angels in heaven.

    Upon our death...
The spirit (God's breath that gives us life) returns to God in heaven. We do not. Man does not have an eternal spirit, we die, as we are cursed to do. It will be only after Jesus's return that we will be resurrected, judged, and allowed into heaven.
