Correction: At 2:03 it states a 2-4 is two sets of four beer. This would be woefully inadequate for a trip to the cabin. A 2-4 is actually 24 beers, so here a total of 48 beer were referenced. -AC

@@houssamalucad753 Yup, bought for a song when Rover went bust, who in turn inherited it from British Leyland. Those are the *real* Minis. I don't know what to say about the BMW versions, other than they're not very small and look nothing like Minis.
@@StockportJambo Most people i know that are a fan of the old minis, including myself say that the only problem with the car is that they put the mini badge on it. I own the 2.0l s seven model. is quite fun to drive.

I have been using the Mini EV for 1 year now and I'm averaging 13.1Kwh per 100km. I can say that in normal urban driving I get 220km on a full charge. If I stick to eco mode, this can go up to 250km on a full charge. If I drive it like I stole it, basically enjoying the instant speed at the traffic lights, 200km on a full charge.
Bit of a nitpick typo at 1:44, but the charging speed should be in kW not kWh to show the peak *power* it charges at.
Also please keep letting alex review cars!!! Its not LTTs forte but its entertaining for sure!

I think car tips for Linus wouldn't be bad. I like how Alex presents cars and feels like the more knowledgeable on the subject. I'll even watch him review regular cars and get their advice.
It just is so enjoyable to watch him :)
There probably isn't enough content to fill yet ANOTHER channel. And at this point it would probably just thin out the community too much.

I like the increase in car content. I'm not sure it'd ever be worth enough content for another channel though, unless LMG wants to compete with more broadly themed dedicated car channels.

A valid concern, a dedicated channel would be competing with channels like Car Throttle and it just wouldn't stand up in comparison.
I test drove a Mini the other day and I’m now OBSESSED with these buttons!! They are soooo fun to manipulate! I’m considering an EV, but I hate all the big screens and lack of buttons in most EVs. I love the classic car interior of this car. The range is the only downside cuz I live in a condo and can’t plug it in the garage 😕
THANK YOU for mentioning the data in different conventions (CAD converted to USD, miles to kms, lb-ft to Nm). I hate having to use the calculator every time I watch a car review. So THANK YOU for doing that!

@Dimetri Drossos First and most important. They are not making reviews, they are doing sponsored showcases/first impressions.
Secondly, on Shortcircuit they are always looking at stuff which is interesting to them. And since Alex seems to be very interested in electric cars there is your reasoning why he is showcasing electric cars.
@Dimetri Drossos Yes, Linus talked about it sometimes but i think they don't have enough experience and content ideas yet. I think simple car reviews over and over again wouldn't really fit their style.
@Dimetri Drossos Well whether we like it or not electric cars are the future and gas ones will be phased out. Plus I prefer them doing electric only because there are lesser known electric cars, like this mini, that I would otherwise not know about. I think it's a good way to advertise electric cars and get their names out there because the only electric cars most normies like myself know about are tesla's and prius's

As an avid motor head I love the car reviews from Alex. He’s the kind of guy that would understand what speaks to a car guy

I've been a fan since I was a kid. Then more than now though
I don’t mind how the Mini Cooper looks on the outside but I’m not a fan of the interior, specifically the infotainment, switchgear, etc. Basically the stuff that you touch all the time.
The look isnt the most harted part in the car entusiast community, its that its built by BMW and all beamers of the era are built like cardboard boxes worth 10's of thousands of dollars
One of Minis strengths is def the Go cart feeling it has, especially when you drive the JCW versions that also sound cool

I really like how LMG finds just the right persons for the reviews. This is a perfect case - an incredibly enthusiastic employee loving what he does and it adds a lot to the watching experience.

@@PaulSpades BMW, Mini and RR actually use ZF(Cherry parent company), BMW(Mini parent company) also debuted now famous ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox back in 2008 in their then new BMW X6, just german engineers apreciating german engineering I suppose

Been driving MINIs for the past 15 years, and I love seeing one on LTT! This might be a new stable car!
I just ordered one! Can‘t wait until it arrives. Its just the perfect city car for me. I got it with multiple extras for a lowered price around 28k€ in my local mini dealership (normal price was 39k€). I guess mini and the Government really wants to bring these ev‘s on the streets, thats why you can actually make a pretty nice „snip“.

Alex has become my new favorite car reviewer. I got hooked on top gear in 2013 and have been looking for a replacement since the end of grand tour. Thank you LTT, I love the tech videos, and can't wait for more car stuff!

I ALMOST bought one of these. I genuinely LOVE Mini Cooper looks. OMG It imo is the best looking car on the market, period. Yes I like it more than any super car. But the range is 1/2 of what I am comfy with.
I'd say wait a bit and buy it used as a fun city car. It'll get cheaper.

Maybe go in depth in quirky tech features it's got. Like how the taycan has touch sensetive chargeflap openers which vibrate when its cold enough to potentially be frozen.

Depends on where you are and what your commute looks like. On my old 40-mile one-way, I'd want to charge at work but still, I could make it. But this is a second car, because you're not going to do any cross-country travel in it
Wow you iive 45 miles from anywhere. Tbh I think the range is low. I think 150 mile range is very useful for everything except road trips.

50kW charger means that the charger output 50kW in an hour. So they did nothing wrong.
@@robbanpenger1341 Kilowatt is a measure of power. If you would take a measurement of how much power is flowing through the charging cable at any given time, you get back a measurement in kilowatts (kW). Kilowatthours are a measurement of sustained power over the duration of an hour.
Say you are charging at 100 kW for 30 minutes, and charging at 200 kW for another 30 minutes straight after, the total sustained power over the course of the hour would amount to 150 kWh, because: (100 kW * (30/60)) + (200 kW * (30/60)) = 150 kWh. Another example, if you are charging for say 15 minutes at 100 kW, how much did you actually charge the car? Well: (100 kW * (15 / 60)) = 25 kWh.
You can also take this the other way. If your car has a 100 kWh battery, how long would it take to charge the car from 0% to 100% at a 50 kW charger? Well: (100 kWh / 50 kW) = 2 hours. Or, for a more real world example: your car has a 60 kWh battery, and you're charging it at home with an 11 kW charger, so charging it would take (60 kWh / 11 kW) = approx. 5.4545 hours or (60 minutes * 5.4545) = 327.2727 minutes, or (60 minutes * 0.4545) = approx. 27 minutes plus 5 hours, or 5 hours and 27 minutes.

Coming from a person who drives a 2016 Cooper 4D Hardtop and wants to get into the electric car scene, this is probably the most informative review I’ve watched thus far. I’m very grateful for this. It sounds like it feels like the Mini i drive (ableit smaller) but once they get the range of the vehicle lengthened, it’ll likely be a sound choice for a daily driver.

- Would be really cool to see POV or similar (passenger side maybe) shot when you start driving it. Like a 30 sec - minute long shot just to get a feel of it.
- Same thing when you floor it.
- Also, sound - how does it sound? I don't know, is there even a sound this car makes in the video? I have to watch it 2nd time ))

I've seen a lot of Mini Se car reviews and I think this one might be my favorite.
I had a 2003 R53 a rew years back and I've driven lots since I still by the the most fun car i've ever owned. The whine of the supercharger on it just made me so happy
Have the non-electric version of this car (street parking), but love it. They're goofy looking, but a real blast.

It has quite a steep learning curve, however it is the best on the market.

Yes I have a charger at home. I live in Vancouver BC with a daily work commute about 60 km round trip.
I get about 177 km instead of 150 km.
Makes sense for me to get it, loving it!

i drove that werid mini with an active spoiler a few years back. I WAS AMAZED at how much i loved driving it. so it wouldnt surprise me that the mini ev is a great drivers car.

those backseats are what are referred to as "Insurance Seats"
@drew scrivers insurance higher on 2 seat cars vs 4 seat cars. Adding 2 useless backseats helps with paying less on insurance.

Insurance rates are purely based on the car's price, the price to repair the vehicle and the rate at which the vehicle's owners' tend to get into wrecks.
The back seats are there because people want them. Much easier to sell a 4 seater than a 2 seater.

Fun review. Wish it was longer with more details. Just got a skoda citigo EV as our second car. Ended up being our main car. So cheap to drive and never thought such a small car could be so fun to drive!

Think of the side visor as an extensions for the front visor. Otherwise pivoting the front visor to the side window would rarely be useful.

Maybe the Mirai, but I wouldn't bet on the EQS. I don't think it has entered production yet. Or fully revealed visually on the exterior. It's an S-Class though, so we know what to expect. With a monstrous 700km range.

Piano Black of any surface you touch: NO! Hell no! Even the PS3, a console you wouldn't touch a daily basis - became ugly as hell very quickly in it's originl piano black configuration. To have a glossy black finish can only ever work on something no one ever touches.
Love to see so many car videos coming up on LMG. I'm not that much of a car person as I am a PC person but man is it ever so good to have diversity.
Alex, I watch a few car reviewers on TH-cam, Doug DeMuro and Shmee150 mainly, and as a tech guy, your reviews are up there with Doug’s. His is his full-time job. To give a good car review 10 minutes and cover the important thing is hard.

I bought mine in October in Silver/Yellow I love this car :)
Absolutly loved this review, I just bought the Mazda MX-30 for this exact reason. It drives great, I dont need the range in the Netherlands and it charges fast becasue the battery is small. It's so worth it for the gas prices alone 6 euro per week instead of 80. Not to mention the government subsidies.
